We lost another fine man last week across the pond.

I share in this loss too. It will always stick in my mind the first time I saw a Canadian soldier being carried across Kilo ramp in Kandahar in silence with a thousand plus fellow soldiers standing there in the heat...
He is a loss to all of us

Sgt. Doiron was originally from a town only about an hours drive from where I live. Though I did not know him, in smaller towns such as that, everyone always knows someone who has been affected by such a loss. Thank you for your service Sgt. Doiron, we will remember.

The truth is, many today are told that they are saved because of some followed formula; but Jesus said believers would be known by their fruits, not by their human works (Matthew 7:16 [25]). He also said, in Matthew 7:21-23 [26], “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven; but the one doing the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? And in your name did we not cast out demons? And in your name did many works of power?’ And then I will confess to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, the ones working lawlessness.’”

backsliding is not found in the New Testament and is never applied to the believer in Christ. It is strictly an Old Testament term describing the Children of Israel.

I actually woke up repeating the first verse of Psalm 23!!!

Didn't recognize it at first, but when I looked it up, I was so pleasantly surprised


Psalm 23

The yippee part is not in the bible, well, not the exact word Yippee. But I think the saints when thinking of what Jesus did for us, were writing elaborate verses that all distill down into a fundamental happiness which, I, a consummate country boy sum up as

YIPPEE!

At times we struggle with the government we have and this was the basis of the lesson at our house today.

All government, not just the ones we agree with, are ordained by God. And we are called to be subject to them, UNTIL their laws conflict with God's laws.  Yes that means, dictatorships, communism, and even Hitler were ordained, not just permitted.

Food for thought. 

Be Subject to Government

13 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

We had an interesting conversation about lost siblings, those in the family who have fallen away from the lord.   It was pointed out that even or father lost children, those who followed Satan could be viewed as lost children who fell away from the lord.   Interesting thought for sure
