Responsible adulting
« on: June 29, 2023, 05:06:51 PM »
Well it has happened. I've got an accepted offer on a house, had to upgrade to a larger house to be ready for my son that's due in September.

Oh yea I think I neglected to pass that information on earlier..

Thanks. I appreciate it. Jena is already pre-planning stuff for the house and projects for me leading into summer 2024.

Thank you. I'll try to keep things updated but I tend to keep it close I suppose.

X2 what he said^^^^^^^^^^

I had one boy, which was good, sort of challenging

Then much later on,

3 girls! And that was well beyond my understanding, mommas realm to be sure.

Then finished with two more boys, proper boys. Wrestling, fights, football, and both in the US Army Infantry.

Got most of that right, I think...We'll see...

Yea we've known for awhile, family didn't know until the baby shower. We haven't finalized a name yet so that's still a secret until baby is born.

Well I'll miss out on the money. David is my dads name, and while I support the naming son's after grandfathers, I don't think two David's would work out when my dad is baby sitting. We have a list of names we like or heard and liked, we just need to work on narrowing down and combine First, Middle with Last to see how they flow.

Oh yea, then he went on to write some cool quotes in the bible...

But I'd name him Bragg.

In remembrance for the fort and the 82nd and all that pre-woke stuff.

Yep, I've been working the names in cycles. Working the list of names we came up with.

Just a thought. Give him a name that will sound good when he graduates from medical school. At least think of it in that way.

My parents named my brother, "Ricky." That name was always meant to be casual and did not serve him well in professional circles. As a builder of schools and hospitals (The superintendent) Mr. Richard Harward would have carried more authority and presence than, "Yo, that's Ricky, da boss."

Grand names can also be contracted. Charles becomes Charlie, Joseph becomes Joe, and so forth.

Also, see what name fits into your family's heritage and "Scheme". Hard to fit a traditional German name into a traditional British family.

Choosing something with biblical connotations if you are so led works well too. If you see, when you're thinking of him as a man, you "SEE" him doing something like leading the charge or perhaps quietly counseling others, then a biblical origin name of someone known for doing something similar would work.

Names are important. We so often choose them because we like them, I think is the number one reason. But does that serve them in their life, or does it just sound good to you for a time?

Your ball, your call, just tossing out some things to consider.

We've been doing that basically since we found out she was pregnant. I'm mostly Scotch Irish and German, her family is more German. We both don't really want to have super common name but don't want it to be wierd like the celebrities seem to do.
