Hopefully your granddaughter won't have scars from the bite. Sorry you had to put him down but probably the best.

New family addition:

Bangalore fighting dog!

Is the shepherd still around?
I never mentioned this, but a couple months ago Scout bit my youngest grand daughter in her face. It was awful. She needed surgery right away, but got away with 40 stitches. Believe me it was a terrible thing. The next day I took Scout to Animal control. They evaluated the dog and told us he was dangerous. Further they were not willing to release him to any family anywhere. He was put down after 10 days.
You may recall I was a bit quiet on the forum
It was a bad and trying time. Kat wanted to do something to help me deal with the bite and losing my friend. Scout. So she went on this fanatical search for the perfect, family oriented, and safe, companion dog. She came up with the Bernese Mountain Dog from Switzerland. She located a litter and the rest is history.
That is so sad on many levels. Hopefully your granddaughter is doing fine. Sorry it turned out that way.

Sorry to hear about that Don. Hope your granddaughter is doing well.

Bernese are awesome dogs, we had a greater Swiss mountain dog, same dog except short hair. She was the best dog we could have ever wanted.  Great with the kids and really fun. Only bad thing about her was she had gas.

No, different one, same mom. They have three kids and momma has one in the oven. In fact two of our three girls are pregnant, and DUE ON THE SAME DAY
(I think I mentioned that before)

Baby granddaughter has a scar at the corner of her mouth/cheek.

I'll pay for corrective surgery in the future sometime

Started helping my brother hang doors last night. House is wired, plumbed, rocked, textured...well, you get the picture.
First door I went to fit, didn't fit. 2 doorways were framed wrong. Not good...doors were custom built in Cali, at $350 each, not shipped (he took my trailer to retrieve). I'm glad that I'm not the one having to make that phone call....and we were going to start tiling this weekend.

Just turn them over and cut the other side. Or just shorten the height of the structure by your mess up height.  Lol

Shawn, it was his ex's brother. He had framed my brother's garage about 15 years ago and we were pretty impressed....but now he has a crew, and rides around in a truck all day. The phone call went as expected:
"my guys are saints", "why do you have oddball sized doors?", "why didn't you double check my guys' work?", "why did it take you a year to realize the issue?". I swear, my brother talks tough but sure lets guys run over him.  He can't say I didn't warn him..."I'm going to sub my own house" he says. "how hard can it be?" he says.

2" too narrow. One side would have to have the double studs moved/removed, the side that has a double gang nailed to it, along with just the right amount of romex to reach, liberally stapled to said studs. lol
Then the blocking up top has to be moved (arched doors).
I also didn't mention that last night he found out that his bathroom cabinets (2) wouldn't fit because of framing (too narrow by an inch), so the granite guys couldn't finish.

...and today he realized that the granite guys spliced his bar together wrong yesterday. They glued the opposite ends together, not matching the grains. This kitchen bar is curved, about 12' long...heavily epoxied to the base because it hangs over about 14". ugh

Well we don’t have snow on the ground. It’s been snowing off and on for a couple weeks now but warming enough to keep it off the ground.
Now, the shocker for 10 October. The big lake has begun to harden over...
Yeah, ice forming in the bays... that’s a touch early. But many of the larger bodies have been froze over for a week or so now.

There’s been a lot going on here in the last month since I’ve been around. To everyone having medical problems, I will say a prayer tonight. Sorry to hear about the granddaughter and the dog Chief, that’s a thought situation. Like most, cold fronts also moving through here, high of 75 today. It was wonderful.

Mom is fighting hard against some metastatic bone cancer. Spent a couple months with some experimental drugs that didn’t work so she decided to stop messing around and go the chemo route 3 weeks ago. Found out yesterday that a bunch of markers are still elevated in relation to her last visit so we’re not sure what’s going on now. I wish such bad things didn’t happen to such wonderful people.

Today my father in law shot some rifles and shotguns. Sighting in for deer season and polishing some shotgun skills for a quail hunt next month. The quail hunt was gifts from our wives. Wonderful women they are.

One of our other houses is going much better than mine

Brick back splashing I did, I don’t like the idea but it will look nice

Concrete simulator tiles we put up on the fireplace.  Again differing opinions but it looks great

Custom hand rail by our welder/fabricator inside and outside of the house.  It gets paint after inspection and all other trades are finished

That customer obviously prefers a more “modern” look with the concrete on the fp and steel handrail. Not my favorite either Dave, but it looks nice I guess.
