My wife's best friend Angie and her are at the hospital. Angie's daughter, Andrea, a twenty something is in ICU
She has pneumonia, Meningitis, Acute Respiratory Disease, and a MRSA Staph infection. She is in grave danger.
They just put her on the ventilator...Doctors are hopeful.
-
On the way. That's a very serious mix of nasty.

Thanks!
This is what prayer warriors and men who care do! Take a moment like my frozen friend here and bend a knee. Father God will hear you!
It's invaluable to have men like all of you who will answer the call!

Done.

Done.
I just talked to Kathy.
She said they have moved her up to 100% ventilator now. She is completely sedated with a cooling blanket which is keeping her temp down to 101.something. Her heart rate was 115 and breathing 30 times a minute, so they medicated her to slow the breathing.
The doctor there feels confident this young lady will recover, although it will be long and slow. She is still in danger though.

Thanks all
She is stable, but not really improving much. She's still very sick. Her mom and her boy friend have been at her bedside since Friday night!
-
Praying here.
-
Looks like you got all the left coast representatives accounted for now. How did she become afflicted with all of these nasties? pretty tough to get one of these let alone the full assault she's dealing with.

She went in to have a boil looked at about a month ago. They took care of it and gave her antibiotics, which I believe either didn't clear up the infection she had or she didn't take the full course of treatment.
So the infection went all over and exploded. Perhaps she picked up something in the hospital, because one of the infections is by one of those super bugs which are anti-biotic resistient.
Then she started getting very sick, which was a coincidental relapse of meningitis. The lowered immune system by all the sickness allowed everything to come on. She was hospitalized and I guess developed pneumonia while in the hospital. From what I got today, she nearly died Saturday night, hanging on to a thread of life. Prayer works because little bit by little bit she is holding on and showing signs of surviving.
I don't have the whole story. We just found out yesterday late afternoon.
-
Another one sent- glad to hear of forward progress?
-
Thoughts and prayers, Don. May His will be done.
-
Just got an update
It's not good
Her lung functions are going downhill and she now has a higher liver and kidney function (Falling)
The doctors are now considering paralyzing her completely so that the machines can do all the breathing and whatever for her to free up what energy her body still has.
An intercessory prayer warrior, a woman from church is showing up there at 1500 to anoint her with oil and pray over her. Others are coming as well.
Keep praying for Andrea!
-
Sorry to hear that Don. Continued prayers being sent. I hope she pulls through.

Yea, me too.
Seems sort of desperate at the moment
-
Still praying here.
-
Condition still unchanged as of 1700 today
I don't know if that is a good thing or a not so good thing
Keep interceding on her behalf, bitte'

Update from AM 6/18
Andrea is about the same, although her lungs have a bit more fluid in them than yesterday.
Please continue to pray, and if you know of prayer teams, let them know as well.
-
Will keep praying for Andrea
-
Another sent- and may God remove the fluid from her lungs, drive the infections from her body and restore her health as we know all things are possible through Christ; in Jesus name, Amen!
-
Still lifting her up. Any update today?

Wife is over there at the very moment. Will find out when she gets back, but as of this morning no change. Not sure if the doctors paralyzed her yet.
-
Andrea is no better, but she is also no worse! The doctor says they are walking a fine line and she could be in the hospital for a very long time.
-
X-rays showing a slight reduction of fluid on her lungs! YIPPEE!
Keep praying for her.
She now has a Facebook page, Andreas village, I joined.
-
6/21@1800
Slight improvement. Less fluid on her lungs. Steroids seem to be working. She's climbing the hill ever so slowly. Prayers are working!!
-
That's great to hear!
-
Any changes?

Any changes?
Last I checked she was very slightly improved, but still very sick
-
Still praying.

Andrea report as of 2240 6/25
She is still in the ICU. She is still sedated, however she is moving around a little apparently. She still has pneumonia with fluid in her lungs and on the outside as well. I believe the next order of business is to try and drain some of that fluid. The breathing machine is set now to make her do most of the breathing, which is a step better, since at one point the machines were doing all of the work!
So she is improving but in very small steps. Let's keep lifting her up and get her out of the ICU
Thanks!

I did way back when this started. Her mom, Angie has thanked us for hanging with her daughter. BTW Angie has been with Andrea constantly since she was admitted

We'll need to add Angie in specifically as well- that's a lot of stress for her to bear without a break!
-
Just got an update. Doctors just removed the ventilator from Andrea. She remains in critical condition, however is now able to breath on her own!
-
Now there's a answer to a specific prayer from last evening! Hallelujah! :D
-
Still lifting her up. Any weekend updates?
-
Matt,
Continued small improvements. Vector is up. The Lord is doing his work, our prayers are being heard. One day I hope to talk to her about this thread and you men who lifted her up.
-
Thanks for the update.
-
Thanks Don.
-
Oh man. So sad. I will say a special word for this young woman tonight. Glad to hear she is improving albeit little bits right now.
-
Any update?

Any update?
Glad you asked Matt!
Our and others prayers are working. On Friday, Andrea was moved out of ICU. She's still very sick, but not life threatening at this point. She had a slight regression, but then recovered and continues to get better, just a little every day. It is going to be a long recovery. But God is bring her out of this!
-
Awesome answer to prayers!
-
Great news. Thanks.
-
Thanks to you two and all the rest of you wonderful folks who take prayer seriously!
-
Never underestimate the power of prayer. Fantastic news!

Not related but let me share a praise report with ya
Bill Moore is a big man I met the day I gave my life to Jesus. I was at the front of a church in front of maybe 400 people I didn't know crying like a baby and standing right beside me was this hard looking man, Bill Moore.
He used to be a tough guy rolling on the streets of Cincinnati, but God changed all that and when I met him he was a walking tower for Jesus. Spent all his spare time working for the Lord.
That was 2000. Bill came down with blood cancer this year. I was at lunch with him and some others when I found out, and just like that time when I found Jesus, I broke down and cried like a little school girl!
We have prayed for Bill, everyone has prayed for him. He got sick and started losing weight, when God decided to rid him of cancer. Just like that, in a matter of a couple weeks, Bill went from losing weight and health and getting sicker, to being found to be cancer free, with completely normal blood numbers and has gained back 15 pounds
Praise our Lord!

God is good.
-
Yes He is. Good to hear!
-
What can you say,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
Great news!
-
I'm a little taken aback to post this, but Andrea is back in the ICU.
Edit: One of her lungs collapsed, so they had to insert another chest tube. OK, this is still a rocky road, and she needs continued prayer
Thanks
-
Haven't stopped. God is working here and will be glorified in this.
-
Gentlemen, Andrea just passed on
She is survived by her 9 year old son and a 12 year old daughter and her mother, Angie
I don't know what to say...
-
I am so sorry to hear this. I will continue to pray for the family. I hope they can some how find peace. Life can be so cruel. I am sorry. :'(
-
I am saddened to hear this-
Lord, we know that Andrea is at peace with you in a glorified body and free from sorrow and pain; we ask you to comfort and strengthen her son and daughter, her mother Angie and the rest of her family and friends. We never know your plans for us, but we can take peace in the thought that you ALWAYS have a plan and purpose for everything. Wrap your loving arms around all of those morning the loss of your servant Andrea-
In Jesus name, Amen.
-
Oh my... no words. So sorry to hear that. Will continue to pray for comfort.
Grant to all who mourn a sure confidence in thy fatherly care, that, casting all their grief on thee,
they may know the consolation of thy love.
Amen.
-
I will continue to pray for the Lord's comfort and peace that we can't know without Him. Somehow God is being glorified through this. His ways are higher that our own.
-
Very sad news,,,,,,,,
-
That is sad news.
Prayers to the family in this hard time.
-
So sorry to hear the news.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends.
-
That is a pretty hard pill to swallow. I'm saddened to hear this news for everyone involved. Lord, please bless this family and their friends when they need you and your comfort the most and help them to understand. Bless and keep Andrea and bless her children. Amen.
-
Saddened and speachless.
-
Andrea's mother has not left her side except to go home and take a shower and change clothes.
We all thought she was getting better, then this.
My wife has been over there since midday. Imagine a mother having to make the funeral arrangements for her daughter...That's why Kat is there. It's just too much for Angie at this time...I just can't imagine. I've been bummed out all day since hearing...

That is a very hard sad ordeal to face. We are not supposed to have to bury our children. What a horrible time for the family. I can't imagine the anguish they are facing and pray for them to get through this testing time. God bless

Matt you are 100% on target.
Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.
That means He has not chosen to reveal all things to us, only a small part of His will is revealed in time. All things are for His glory.
Grieving for the loss of a Christian brother or sister is about our sorrow, for the Christian, to be absent from this world is to be present with the Lord. Where there is no suffering or sickness.
Grieving for an unbeliever is a different story all together, since we know that their exit from this world is into a much worse place.
Don, I pray that He gives Andrea's family peace and comfort to you and your wife as well.
-
Well, all day today was visitation, the funeral, and the burial, followed by a meal.
It's just plain tiring, or is it trying, to see that. I watched her children playing around, the real impact of this is yet to come for them. The little girl closed and would not open her eyes in the church and had to be taken out. The father is close to a breakdown I'm told. I mean he looks awful. Angie, Andrea's mom looks like a worn out hollow person, she's just so frazzled by this.
While the funeral was going on in a huge and very packed Catholic cathedral looking church the warning sirens blew for some time. Then the rain came and the wind blew hard and the power failed. I guess we took a near miss, because when we went outside later to drive to the cemetery, there were branches and trees down everywhere.
Well, for Andrea it's all done now, but for that 9 and 12 year old, it's just beginning...

prayers for this family

Don words are meaningless at a time like this. I have had my share of "are you f'ing kidding me funerals???" Where you try to make sense of it but you cant. And I know that you have too....probably more than me. But all you can do is make a promise to the Man above that you will help those children. You will help guide them as best you can. You will remind them of the love that their Mom had for them. Because in the end this is their path, and no matter how hard, no matter how much you and your church family will help, they need to walk it. And they will. With the support of a special caring group, they will. And while I won't be so presumptuous to say they will be the better for it (no child would EVER be better by losing a parent) given the alternative they will be better for having you and all your parishioners in their lives. God bless you ALL as you face this struggle for the next 15 or more years. Those little ones need that help. And I am sure you will all help provide it.
