Don't tell Tex, but the wife and I are in San Antonio today for a stop on my daughter's nationwide tour ... Hopefully checking out the Alamo sometime today before heading back home.

Close but still 3 hours away. Hope you had a good time. People there can't drive.  Lived there 1998-2000.

If you ever make it to Houston I'll be offended if you don't call. :-)

Had to repair the sprinkler system/garden irrigation system. Although I drained it and blew it out with air, a little water remained on top of the valve and it split in the freeze. Installed two couplers this time. Next year I'll undo the couplers and remove the valve assembly all together and cover the exposed water stub.

So I started laying the footings for my casita/storage building / reloading room.  7 inch thick with #4 rebar. 8 inch tube form. Gonna try every 12 ft on the long side and every 8 on the short. So 9 total footings each 4 sq ft. LVL beam 3 1/2 x 12. I know the beams will be strong enough. Wether the spacing on the long side is enough remains to be seen but I think the soil is solid enough.

Or you could add a downspout at the other end of the porch and double your collection rate using more 2 inch pipe. Not having a view of the other end of the porch I don't know if that's practical

Agreed. There is theory and there is practical application.  Theory is we should have freedom of speech. Practical application is that people are cowards.  If I exercise my rights I have to be prepared to defend them. And I am. In texas we have the right to protect personal property with deadly force.

And Don. I feel ya. I came from a modest upbringing. 40 year union iron worker father.  Tireless work ethic that he passed on. I went to college. Never graduated. Sr executive in a Fortune 500 company. No one handed me anything. I had to outwork every privilege and advantaged group along the way and outwork those with a degree to advance. 30 years later I'm beyond all that but I remember my roots. Work ethic trumps pedigree any day.

Lets just skip ahead and get down to business.  Its time for the silent majority to rise up and purge.  Have you seen the movie "The Purge"? Let's get down to business, or vigilantism as some would call it.  clean out a few bad apples in the court system, a few bad politicians, a bunch of seditionists, illegal immigrants, terrorists.  Its time to clean house...

Ok, so i can't really bring myself to that, but it would be a lot cleaner that way.  The hard way is slow and tough

Guys, that is my congresswoman.  It's demoralizing and ...well, I can't say what I want.

They have gerrymandered her district to keep her in office.  Soon they'll have to re-gerrymander has a big part of her ghetto district is being gentrified.  We keep running conservatives against her but the welfare rats in the other parts of her district keep getting free meals and bused to the polls.

Saw the little  "lady" that runs this outfit on Tucker Carlson's show.  She was physically accosting a pro Trump demonstrator.

Its escalating fast and the time has come.  When the opportunity presents itself and one of these little communists moves past words to violence, it needs to be met with overwhelming disproportionate force.  Instead of this mental midget getting away with attacking someone on video, the video needs to be her getting her ass pounded into submission.  Woman or not, if she were to attack me I'd throat punch that little @#$%^% and smile for the cameras.

Sorry guys, I've had it.  The Obama intelligence community seditious  behavior and these little liberal anarchists need to be put down.

Roger. I have those huge rolls of floss. Good supply of TP. I've been using doctor friends to obtain meds but they are so expensive I'm probably going the fish/animal route for basic antibiotics.  Some of the more exotic stuff I need to just keep paying and tossing when it gets outdated.  My lidocaine is good for another 3 years.

Back to concentric circles concept. I have canned goods about 2-3 weeks. MREs for a month and then freeze dried and rice beans sugar salt for about 6 months.  Only thing I need to start eating is the MREs. They'll go 7 plus in a cool environment and I've had them 5. All my stock is climate controlled. Water is in 35gal hdpe virgin barrels. I rotate water every 2 years.

So today I finished reading "One Second After". Highly recommend that as a read.  Brought some new perspective to contingency planning.  Will be doing food inventory this weekend. Have to start getting a little more serious about meds. Will write more on that later. I have a solid supply of medical kits but meds are perishable.  I'm good on weapons and ammo but need to focus on a few other things.

I use overhead sprinklers for my seedlings and then switch over to drip irrigation.  You can get drip hose with emitters every 12 inches.  My set up has a pvs "manifold" I made of pvc with tees to have a drip line going down each row and ties into a duolicate manifold at the other end of the garden.  A simple filter to keep particles out of the drip lines.  You may need a pump from the containers to make it work.

Yeah, I'm way overkill on footing spacing.  I may be able to get away with 12ft spacing but since I did not test the soil I'd like to stay with 8ft.  Even poor soil has 2000 psf and with 12 footings at 4sf, I have 96,000 pounds of load bearing capacity.  I plan to eventually convert to a living quarters with a bathroom, but for now it will be climate controllled storage and reloading room

Poured the first footing for the casita/storage building.  2ftx2ftx7 inches with rebar in a grid and verticals for the sheptube, which is 8 inch.  Once that one sets up I'll work on the other 3 corners and then fill in the middles.  Plan is 16x24 story and a half with a 12/12 pitch metal roof and a porch on the front.  Hardi on the exterior.  Glue Lam beams for the floor structure.  2x2 footings every 8 ft.
