There is room for machines in that place Shawn?

Problem Don, or just dreading the down time?

Got the tile layed in the smallest bathroom, now doing the other spare. Second one has more room to work, but the floor is worse. I've found that this creates less dust than a grinder (I just about choked to death grinding the other bathroom).
First pic is just layout, forgot to take a finished pic.

Got to spend the  afternoon with my granddaughter. I got a hold of Her mom and she agreed to come hang out with us. My son don't have anything to do with them thankfully his ex don't take that out on us. We don't get to see her very often but almost every time we ask to see Ava they meet us someplace. I took the familty to an exotic animal auction yesterday. I thought it would be fun for the boys and Ava to see all the different animals.

Well it was yesterday, but a friend asked if I'd go to the small range he is president of and shoot pumpkins. I agreed, and brought a lady who didn't have much experience shooting, at the end of the day she was grinning ear to ear, had eliminated a couple pumpkins with rifle and pistol and was ringing steel at 100yds. So I think I can still teach.

Granted 100 yds isn't a hard distance but she had fun and that's what matters. Of course me saying " hit..hit..hit" was a bonus for her. Hard part was a game warden buddy of mine was there shooting a Taurus Judge at 100yds at the same target so I was multitasking hard through the monocle, cause spotting scopes would be too easy.

It never ceases to amaze me how people who don’t have experience with firearms light up when they get he chance.  Even the libs from up north.

Pretty standard people are anxious or nervous about what they don’t know. Once they experience something that is new to them in a safe and controlled environment those fears recede rather quickly. My better half for instance still to this days likes indoor shooting ranges, the idea of a range master makes her warm and fuzzy I guess.....

Part of my theory in raising daughters as a dad was to make sure many of these things (dirt bikes, atvs, fishing, hunting, shooting etc) were introduced by me in a controlled environment. I never wanted them to have to feel inferior around a boy someday who did these things. Downside to all that is it’s a boy attractant.

Ill take an S3, bet Don wants a ranger.

Miss the innocent times with the kids. Now it is life lessons and homework, with a camping trip here and there.

Mom ended up at the ER today. Didn't look good yesterday and had me worried, a lot. Ends up she is dehydrated and not eating again, but should be out later today.

She's shot before but it was in a field at milk jugs with her dad. It was, what I'm assuming is a lever action 30-30, based on how she described it. It wasn't a good experience as she didn't hit anything then, but I gave her my word she'd be hitting pumpkins before we left, and she was.

Pretty standard people are anxious or nervous about what they don’t know. Once they experience something that is new to them in a safe and controlled environment those fears recede rather quickly.

Yea at least it was nice outside at the range yesterday. I don't think she'd appreciate the really cold temps.

I have a few things today.

Thorogood boots

These boots are fantastic.   The break in was only hours.   They were purchased as work boots but I wear them everywhere!!

Second days activity

Moms driveway has been lifting in one corner in the winter.  I figure the simple fix is water prevention so I started with cleaning joints out yesterday with pressure washer. Today I back filled with small grain sand used sikaflex s1ca self leveling product.

We also got a order list for grandmas deck build next weekend

Her deck is approx 35 years old.  We added vinyl top maybe 20 years ago but left all of the framing in place.
I think about the time I can stick a butter knife through the post it’s time to rebuild before someone dies.

I just talked to the shop owner.

He stole everything and is headed for the border!

Not really, but would make for an exciting story. He opened a much larger facility a little bit down the road. He had all the customer trucks towed except for mine and one other. He is still in the process of moving but has some mexican "Businessmen" coming over to take a look at my truck for some reason???

A few weeks ago I noticed the deck had some “soft spots”.
35 years of life on a deck primed and wrapped with aluminum siding.  Not to bad of a life.

Posts are butter soft

Well I ordered new timbers, new posts, new beams, than started to disassemble

The vinyl rail was at least 15 years old and really brittle

The top rail is “Brock Deck” and a really good product for 21 years of life of winter and summer and all types of abuse. It’s been a great product but it’s time to replace and I get a killer deal on Trex!

So
Pry bar and a 20 lb sledge

And down to all wood - the aluminum attaching system for the decking
my buddy arkstrker “hasn’t signed up” finally got him to stand on some joists.

Ready tomorrow to take the wood off. Rebuild and Trex back on.  $510 for all new wood
