Title: Built mostly rust free Cherokee for sale
Post by: Flyin6 on July 14, 2016, 09:01:11 PM
I was over at the Jeep store today getting the fluids changed in the GJ when this thing pulled up

The owner is a fireman, a captain, who has run out of space and is selling this truck. I gave it a lookover and from what I could see, it is a solid truck.

It has lots of "Rusty's" parts and the workmanship is up to snuff. He is a part of a local jeep club and purchased all the right parts to build the truck correctly. He hasn't owned it very long and due to a move and a recent home sale needs to move it out of his inventory

He said he was asking $6500.

I'm no Jeeper, but it seems like it might be worth it

Well since Bobby said it first, yeah the stinger is beyond a little obnoxious...... ;D

I'd cut it off if it was mine, but I appreciate individualism.

What's the purpose anyway?

I know in Iceland, the snow 4-wheel crowd do that in case they drive into a crevasse. The protrusion keeps them from falling into an abyss I believe.

I think it would be cool to use it to "Nudge" drivers in front of you from time to time ;-)

Same concept as Iceland, except it's "supposed" to keep you from allowing the rear to pass over the front when going down a steeper hill. At least that's what I was told. But I'd take that off and put a tube over the top to protect the winch and mount a couple lights.

Related note, that's sorta how I wish mine would look. But I see that requiring more effort than I have available for XJ.

Exactly, going down hill it keeps the back end from flipping forward supposedly. I prefer the skinny pedal method myself...... ;)

Hope that spare tire holder doesn't fall off like another member here...

Funny...
I mentioned that to the gentleman who owns the truck

He countered that the tire is only a 33". I carry around a 35" on a single axle swing arm and others were levering around 37's which no doubt simply overcame the single joint.

I showed him a picture of the three hinge point carrier of SquareD while I was there with him
