Has anybody sent any of there tools either back to the manufacturer or to another locale to have their tools refurbed?
A quick search showed me stuff in the U.K. But not here.
I know most places probably want us to go buy new and the cost may be similar but I am curious as to whether or not I could do such a thing.
Particularly my 12" hitachi compound miter saw, and my makita 18v cordless drill set.

The key is to wear them out quick, then go buy a new set off the HD shelf and return the worn out ones...... :huh:

I can honey know Dewalt will tell you for the most part to buy a new one. I had a chuck go bad on me and they said to buy a new one on the phone

Look around you and see if there is a tool repair place. I have used them for work tools and put a limit on the replacement cost. Some things get fixed and some get replaced.

There is a place called Tool Depot in Sioux City Ia. They repair tools. They can get parts for dewalt tools. They got us a new trigger mechanism for a saws all and printed out a schematic on how to fix it. It was like 30 bucks or so.

The labor to rebuild most power tools these days is just too high. Then often there is shipping involved. I have stopped using shops to repair stuff. There are many websites where you can buy the parts to repair most stuff yourself. Then i watch youtube and see how to get it done and see how things come apart. Most tools come with a parts diagram with part numbers. Keep those as long as you own the tool. These are great for locating the part on the internet. Most tools open easily to swap broken items. I have fixed nail guns that would have been $75 or so just to get looked at with seal kits costing less than $10 shipped.
