This is very disturbing. Do you think there might be a pattern here that would lead to buying votes? I do , but our watch dogs that are supposed to be protecting America don't.

The biggest factor of why Seniors are losing more and more benefits. They are getting blamed for part of our country’s increasing deficit.

It's easy to dismiss individual programs that benefit non-citizens until they're all put together and this picture emerges.
Someone did a lot of research to put together all this data. Often these programs are buried within other programs making it difficult to find each of them.

The following 11 reasons should be forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the readers gets sick of reading them. Included are the URL's for verification of all the following facts.

Self Defense and Tactics / School Shootings
« on: May 25, 2022, 06:37:03 AM »
So politics will rein for the next several weeks, but I wanted to start a serious discussion on how to address the evil that manifests itself as armed assaults on soft targets at schools.

We should start by aggressively enforcing existing law.  Far too often the knee jerk reaction of legislators is to simply pass more laws to appear to be taking action when there are countless examples of failure to enforce existing laws.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/11/lying-buy-gun-fear-not-feds/

Next is locking up violent felons and applying the death penalty consistently where appropriate.  3 hots and a cot for the rest of your life, with cable tv and medical care is not as much of a deterrent for a killer.

Mass shootings almost exclusively happen at “gun free” zones, very soft targets.  If you go to almost any courthouse, you pass through a metal detector and armed personnel are prevalent and entry and exit are strictly controlled.

Rather than woke kooks worrying that armed guards or police would “trigger” kids, its time to help them understand that the world can be a dangerous place and they are an integral part of their own safety.

https://sofrep.com/news/school-security-in-israel/

Lastly, I would strongly encourage any news outlet not to even mention the name of the killer.  It is exactly that fame that drives some of the behavior.

What say ye, menses?

We’ve all anecdotally heard about some of the big tech manipulation in our lives, but if you want to really understand how big tech is tracking, manipulating and selling your data and using it for their own agenda, then please listen to this one Joe Rogan podcast with Dr. Robert Epstein #1768

It will blow your mind.  He also offers suggestions on how to avoid being tracked and manipulated.

Firearms / PVS 14 Mount
« on: December 29, 2021, 06:33:48 PM »
So I was trying to stalk up on some pigs the other night and just couldn’t get a good picture through the PVS 14.  Hadn’t noticed that the standard mount was out of alignment with the compM4 but in complete darkness it really obscured the field of view.

So I ordered American Defense QD PVS mount and the SOCOM height CompM4 mount so at least I know that they’ll both be at the same height since both mounts are made by the same company.  Will post up pics when I get it next week.

Well, I mentioned this in another thread so I thought we might as well give it a shot.  Seems safe enough, I don’t think my wife is going to be on this site….

I’ll start.  I think I need more guns.  She disagrees. (And she hasn’t seen this months statement yet…lol)

Firearms / Packable/Concealable AR
« on: October 21, 2021, 08:46:24 PM »
Well, I’ve been contemplating this for a while and decided to go for it.

I read an article on arbuildjunkie
https://www.arbuildjunkie.com/pantheon-arms-and-the-dolos-take-down-system/

This build using the Pantheon Dolos quick detach barrel system and the Law Tactical folding stock adapter.

So I ordered both today and will be building yet another 300 blk pistol with the goal of being able to pack this in a small pack, that i estimate will be 12x6x6 including 1 mag.

It will be interesting to practice deploying and engaging to assess reliability and how long it takes to be at the ready.

So for the greater good and the interest of mankind (and 4 star admirals of the US Public Health Service) I, your resident redneck will embark on this mission and provide updates….

Firearms / Glock 22 gen 3 or 4
« on: October 18, 2021, 10:59:45 PM »
Ok boys. I ordered a G22 gen 3. Specifically because I believe the gen3 to be the best generation all around and of the dozen or so glock I own they are all gen 3 meaning parts interchange and gunsmith familiarity.

I’m now questioning whether they can produce said gen3 and they have a gen4 in stock.

Should I hold out or get the bastard child of some marketing guys dream who said they needed “updates” to sell more product?

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Have we forgotten?

Most young people weren’t alive 20 years ago today.  Schools don’t teach that fundamentalist Islamic terrorists seeking to kill the Great Satan murdered 3000 Americans.

We are now a society of self absorbed tic tock narcissists who don’t care or realize that evil amongst us is killing freedom and turning this country into a socialist, totalitarian state.

May the silent be silent no more.  Never forget.

Ammo & Reloading / 40S&W reloading
« on: August 22, 2021, 10:42:22 PM »
Starting to reload 40 for the first time.  Fortunately the carbide dies I bought for 10mm years ago work on .40 as well.

First step was to clean all the once fired brass I had. Just bought a new Dillon vibratory cleaner and media separator.

Then 40 S&W requires some extra care in case prep. The .40 is a high pressure round and those cases shot from a glock will have a glock smile or bulge at the base of the case that a standard sizing die will not remove.

One of the reasons a glock always goes bang(unlike Ken’s hammers) is the chamber is partially unsupported which aids in feeding.  But that results in a case bulge.

You don’t shoot a glock you say?  Well unless you know for sure that all your brass came from your gun you need to prep it like it was run through a glock.

Look carefully and you’ll see the bulge

Ammo & Reloading / Shortages
« on: August 18, 2021, 07:05:39 AM »
I was going to add to my reloading 556 thread but since (so far) it has not been junked up, I’ll keep in clean and add this.

I ordered some additional tool heads and stands and a vibratory cleaner and separator from Dillon this weekend and was eyeballing the new RL1100 press.

Because they only ship to CC address it goes to my PO Box, but because it was a large/bulky order they emailed and wanted to send it to my physical address, which I gladly gave them.

It was the shipping manager that contacted me so we had a nice chat when I called.  We were talking about why there is such a shortage of the reloading dies and how that is the bottleneck in their business.

Apparently there was a family owned business that made the carbide dies for them and the dad died and the son retired and while the company is still in business and doing the work for Dillon on their dies, none of the people remaining at the company have been able to properly grind the dies which has resulted in 80% rejection rates on the dies they’ve been getting.

Dillon is looking into buying the the machine to make the dies in house but its a 6 month order for the machine, $1.3M and it will still take them 4-6 months of set up and training to get the process right.  Apparently carbide finish grinding is a meticulous process.

Machines and things that don’t include dies are shipping much faster.  Dies are shown as at least a 60 week delivery at the moment.  The 300 blk dies I ordered last august still have not shipped, but I was able to find them on eBay new several months ago, although I overpaid for them

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Homosexuality/Pride Month
« on: June 14, 2021, 10:11:13 PM »
As I’ve been bombarded daily with messages of diversity and inclusion about all things “woke”, I took particular note of LGBTQLMNOP month and realized that is no longer about tolerance and denouncing discrimination or violence towards the homosexual community but now it is a full on press to force acceptance, normalization, and approval of their lifestyle and anyone who doesn’t share their view or lifestyle is a bigot and homophobe.

Scripture is very clear on this topic. Romans 1

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19  because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not  honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and  crawling creatures.

24  Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29  being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

However, we are also not to judge others (except for those in the church, which is where church discipline comes from) because we know that but for the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we would be lost and wallowing in sin like many others, including homosexuals.

I refuse to call them gay, as that is a term that has crept into the culture to normalize their behavior.  I refuse to call their behavior normal as it is an abomination to the Lord.  I believe in their right to be safe from violence and persecution but I will not forsake the Lord and condone their behavior.

Homosexuals represent 3-5% of the population but to see how they are represented in the main stream media you would think they are 30-40% of the population.

Once again, the “tolerant” left leaves no tolerance for any view other than the one they want to force on others.  I don’t and I won’t make forced public statements of support for a lifestyle my faith tells me is abominable to the Lord and I don’t appreciate the mass propaganda telling me to do so.

And for the record, I don’t fear homosexuality.  It’s another tool of the left to stigmatize those that disagree with them.

Share Your Recipe / Habanero Sauce
« on: November 15, 2020, 01:08:00 PM »
15-20 habeneros
1/2 cup vinegar. Your choice of ACV or White. I used white.
4 tsp EVOO
4 tsp sugar ,white or brown. I used white
2 cloves of garlic. I used 3 big ones
1/2 tsp salt, I used a bit more

Rough chop the peppers after pulling stems. You can scoop the seeds to make it milder but what’s the point??

Sauté in EVOO for 8 minutes or so over low heat covered. Stir occasionally. Then add garlic and sauté for another 3 minutes. Then add vinegar salt and sugar and bring to a simmer a simmer over low heat for 10 minutes covered. Then let cool covered for 10 minutes.

Purée in blender or food processor until smooth. Add a little vinegar if you need to thin.

Bottle and enjoy.

Those old Siracha bottles come in handy.

Next time I’m going to add fresh mango in place of some of the sugar.

This stuff is good!!

Other Weapons / Handmade Knife
« on: October 31, 2020, 09:27:59 AM »
I’m not a knife maker but I picked this up at a charity auction yesterday after a golf tournament. Collin Campbell was a 24 year old triathlete who drowned in the swimming portion of his last competition. I’ve known his mother for 20 years. She keeps his memory alive by holding this event each year. Bob Hughes, a friend of the family made the knife but I do not know him. This knife apparently is made from Damascus steel brought back to the states by a military friend from Syria / Pakistan. Pictures do not do it justice. It’s the first custom knife I’ve ever bought and one I will cherish.

Intended use: pig hunting
Weapon system: AR platform 5.56/3.08
Requirements: some method of range finding
Don’t care: video recording, pictures, WiFi etc.

I want something rugged and reliable and with good resolution

Thoughts?

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / WILNR

WILNR - Whiskey Induced Late Night Rant

I've about reached the end of my rope with people who believe that we should take care not to "offend" people.  They live their life worried about what other people think.

Got into a really hot debate with the HH6 tonight about this.  She made the comment "aren't you glad that your truck (with the Redneck license plate) is not parked out in front of our house in Houston?  I told her I am prepared to handle the threat, to which she replied that I would be partly to blame for having that plate that might offend people.  She failed to see the analogy that her statement is like saying the girl with the short skirt was asking to get raped. That led to a very lengthy debate on why I don't care about what other people think.  She continues to insinuate that the license plate would be a reason for people to attack us.  She said she understood some people's anger in the protests. I agreed, but that it is no excuse to riot and break the law.  It should not have taken 3 days to arrest that cop and the other 3 should probably be arrested on lesser charges.  Permissive attitudes like hers is what leads to weak liberal politicians backing off and "letting the protestors get it out of their system". the same ones that turned a blind eye to the officer's 18 other complaints against him.  We are either a nation of laws are we arent and we need to crack down on looters, hard. Just as we should crack down on the minority of LEOs that are bad apples.

She continued to argue that I should acknowledge that some might find my license plate offensive to wit I replied, I dont care.  I could put an American flag on the back and there would be someone who would be offended.  I wear a hat with Infidel on it and I'm sure some would be offended.  I won't change my life or speech to coddle the minority who might find themselves offended.  Redneck is a salt of the earth hard working farmer type and those that choose to make it a racial issue are ignorant and I won't coddle ignorant people either. Unlike her I grew up in diversity and one of my first jobs was in what is one of the roughest parts of black Houston near the corner of MLK and Cullen.  I gained my street creds there and was harrassed constantly by the cops for being in that neighborhood as a white guy.  They figured I was selling or buying dope.  I rolled bones and drank 40s with the guys in the hood and made friends.  These days, in my truck I roll up to convenience stores in black areas and invariably the blacks crack up at the license plate and get the humor in it. "truth in advertising" as I tell them.

In the end we had to just stop talking.  My passion was coming through loud and clear.  I won’t be lectured by someone who hasn’t grown up with diversity.

Rant off.

Firearms / 300blk
« on: April 21, 2020, 10:16:57 PM »
So Bobby posting the Kriss got me thinking about an AR pattern pistol again, a project that has been lurking in the back of my mind for a year.

Those of you who know me know that I favor standardized platforms with interchangeable ammo and parts.  Ar-10, ar-15, Remy 870,glocks,  not withstanding a few novelty pieces (1911s - Ken) and bolt guns.

So here is my dilemma.  I was opposed to AR pistols for years until the “brace” rulings made them very usable and no tax stamp. Sub guns are cute but I really like rifle power if given the choice.  Now that I’m warming to the idea of a very packable AR pattern pistol I know the limitation of the lightweight 5.56 especially at super short barrel lengths and what the loss of velocity does to lethality. That’s why the project has bee gathering dust in my mind for a year. I already have SBRs in 5.56 and a 10 inch barrel is about as short as you can get without compromising the ballistics too drastically.

For years I thought the 300blk was a novelty but after this many years its here to stay.  I like that it uses AR mags and bolts and is really interchangeable with much of the 5.56 stuff I already have. I can also form my own brass from 5.56

Ballistics out of a super short barrel is much better and subsonic still packs a punch.

So I’m debating if I should add 300blk to my inventory and perhaps buy that sig mcx rattler pistol in 300blk.?  I know it’s not an AR per se but aside from form factor what are the pros and cons of adding the 300blk to the stable?

« on: April 06, 2020, 12:08:20 PM »
Thought I would post this up for us to share our workout ideas since those of us that can’t get to the gym need to stay in shape and focused. All the preparedness was to get us ready for moments like these and staying in shape is extremely important

So, I was on a 5 day rotation in the gym and now that I’m working remotely and can’t get to the gym, so far I’ve incorporated:

Wheel of death for ab workout
Push-up handles for deep pushups
Jump rope for cardio and coordination

Was searching for a shoulder and back exercise and just found this.

.30 cal ammo can full of 45ACP makes for great dumbbell raises for the shoulders!

I’m now trying to find the right piece of pipe to build a pull up bar

What ideas do you guys have or what is your routine?  Let’s help each other stay motivated and in good shape in the event things get worse

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Corona virus
« on: February 07, 2020, 07:50:53 PM »
So, I hate to drop this here but I guess it’s as good as any.  Ive traded some note with some Birkenstock dope smoking hippy from CO who shall remain nameless but the wife has been obsessed with the above ground and underground reports on the Coronavirus. (She was somewhat the same way with Ebola)

So I’ve read that the virus has been decoded to show that it includes portions of HIV and other evidence that it points to man made weaponized versions of the naturally occurring corona virus. We know we cannot trust the Chi Coms in any form and I’ve seen some disturbing videos from China on the very aggressive tactics being used by the government to control the outbreak.

We have 12 cases here in the US.  Can we really trust the US government any more than the Chi Coms?

People are panicking over N95 masks with boxes of 20 going for 400 plus now.

I’m ready come what may and can sit it out in the woods for a year or more but what say ye?  What do you think is really going on and when is it time to pop smoke and retreat to the woods?

D.O.T. / Pilots - I’m jealous
« on: December 11, 2019, 08:45:12 AM »
Being in the air is an amazing invention of the 20th century.  Before that time, men gazed in wonder at the flight of God’s creatures and dreamed of flight.  Mythical stories of Icarus and others dot the history of mankind.

As I saw the sun come up today on a flight, I noticed how the fog and low clouds hug the contours of the earth, just “so”, creating a wonderful tapestry and topography in ways that earth bound man can’t appreciate.

Pilots get to see that, and more, every day.  I’m jealous.

This picture does not do it justice.  By the time I got the camera up it was past the best parts...

Hand Tools, Power Tools, Welders, etc / Powder Coating
« on: October 19, 2019, 06:17:26 PM »
So a while back I bought a HF media blast cabinet and a used oven off CL to get into powder coating.  The HF cabinet has been nothing but trouble from day one. It simply would not suction the media and my compressor was producing a lot of water because of the humidity.

So I added a transmission cooler to the compressor along with an automatic draining water separator. It works wonders for reducing water in the lines.

And after a lot of research I bought a TP tools Scat media blaster gun and pick up tube which has a Siamese tube with a vent to allow air to enter and help the flow of media.

Today I got it all installed and out some new glass bead media in it and it flows really well. The only issue is that I can tell to do any real work on pieces of any size I’m gonna need to step up the compressor to a 5-7hp twin. I sized the nozzle for my compressor and my compressor keeps up but it just doesn’t have the volume necessary to really get pieces done quickly.

Ammo & Reloading / 5.56/.223 reloading
« on: September 21, 2019, 11:22:26 AM »
Since a lot of us shoot and potentially reload the ubiquitous 5.56 (that word was on my Redneck Word Power Calendar as the Word of the Day), I thought I would start a thread about my reloading adventures.

When I started shooting 5.56, you could buy 1000 rounds of mil surp Lake City for $176.  Not so much now which makes reloading a more cost effective endeavor.

For me, 5.56 is a volume play and not an accuracy play.  I’m not weighing and sorting bass and experimenting with seating depths etc.  It’s “minute of scumbag” accurate and good enough for me.  Generally I aim to duplicate the ballistics of factory military ammo like M193 in 55gn and M855 in 62gn.

[/b]Let’s start with a disclaimer:  My loads and my advice are worth just what you are paying for it, meaning nothing.  Consult your own reloading manuals and technical data.  Reloading is dangerous and I’m not responsible for you blowing yourself up or losing an eye.  My recipes and techniques work for me and I’m sharing for the general good.  Use common sense and if you don’t have any, don’t reload. Buy factory ammo, save your brass and send it to me.[/b]

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Never Forget
« on: September 11, 2019, 06:46:41 AM »
Never forget.

As I sit here with my BRCC CAF 18 years later, Satan is still in control of evil on this planet that includes a so called religion that believes that killing innocent people in the name of Allah is the pathway to heaven.

So much time has passed there are people of legal voting age that weren’t even alive to see what happened that day.

And today we have the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent with Ilhan Omar, AOC, Rashid Talib and Pressley in congress as America hating, Jew hating democrats who I believe secretly believe we deserved to be attacked.

As Omar said, “some bad people did something”

I say. “Never forget”. Evil is here amongst us.

Firearms / Glock mods
« on: August 20, 2019, 10:54:27 PM »
So a while back...quite a while back I promised to do a detailed write up on some of my favorite glock mods.

As a teaser I’ll start this and work on it this weekend

Since I was getting a recipe dialed in last week I wanted to crono the ammo in a full size pistol. I only had my G30 with a 3.78 bbl length. My G21 is in the safe next to the bed in Houston so I had to scrounge through the stash and pull out a NIB Glock 21 genIII for testing. Now that I opened the box it’s only fitting that I keep shooting it and that means I need to do my favorite mods.

First up will be the Ghost Rocket trigger disconnect that reduces the pull to 3.5 lbs and allows precise adjustment of overtravel.

Then an extended mag release and some trijicon night sights and the maritime firing pin spring cups

Firearms / Perfect Excuse
« on: August 06, 2019, 06:14:36 PM »
So as some of you know I spent a week hiking around the mountains in Grand Teton and Yellowstone with the family.

I knew we were going into bear country in the summertime and I really wanted to bring my 10mm G20 with the aftermarket barrel and hopped up 210gn loads.  But alas, getting the family out the door at 4:45 am to get to the airport was enough to make me not want to check a weapon in my baggage because of the 30 extra minutes it take to find someone who knows the protocol and doesn’t scream out “hey what do we do about a gun?” And it wouldn’t be the first time my luggage was delayed because of the extra screening.

However, after being in WY and seeing all the people with bells and bear spray, I felt like a guy in a gun battle that thinks a cardboard box is cover.

(As an aside:  How do you tell the difference between black bear scat and grizzly scat?  Black bear scat is full of grubs and berries. Grizzly scat is fully of bells, human bones, and smells like pepper spray)

So I went on my merry way with the family in tow with my little bell ringing and a big bottle of bear spray....

Doing a great deal of reading on bear behavior and dealing with a bear attack (we plan on making that trip many more times) I felt really bad for being lazy and not pack a weapon.

However as much as I think my hopped up 10mm would be sufficient, I apparently misjudged the requirement for bear.

So, I think I may have found a great excuse for a ultra big bore handgun and so the search begins.

Despite S&W quality and other problems, they are really the only one who makes a weapon that is a no doubter on bear, namely the 460 and the 500.  Ruger has the 454 casul and 480 Ruger, but the fall woefully short of the ballistics of the 500.

So looking at the 500S&W with 4 inch barrel. (And maybe a face guard for when that beast recoils into my face...)

What say the menses out there?

Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher found not guilty on murder and attempted murder charges

https://www.foxnews.com/us/navy-seal-edward-gallagher-found-not-guilty-on-murder-and-attempted-murder-charges

Explore the Fox News apps that are right for you at http://www.foxnews.com/apps-products/index.html.

Though I didn’t serve,  these things have to be disturbing to those who have.

Based on the charges and the way he was pursued, its clear to me that the ROE have changed over the years to handicap our war fighters who now have to second guess themselves in the heat of a fight.  “Will I be courtmartialed for this if I get it wrong?”

We are turning our war fighters into cops.  Soon they’ll be wearing body cameras and second guessed by civilians ever time they pull a trigger.

War should, by necessity, be ugly, really really ugly.  Horrifying.  We should enter into it only as a last resort and after much contemplation.  However when we do we should send some hard men to do some really dirty work and kill people and break things effectively and efficiently and then get out quickly.  Our fighting men are not cops and they should not be treated as such.

First step to correct this ought to be to no longer allow embedded reporting.

I would be curious to hear from our current and former war fighters here.

What are you building? / Engineering Help
« on: May 16, 2019, 07:32:59 AM »
Is there a real man here that has access to engineering software that can help me with deflection calculations for a timber beam?

It’s been 30 years since I had to use calculus and I really don’t want to spend 2 days fumbling through a calculation trying to reeducate myself.

I can provide the load, span and modulus of elasticity and beam cross section if someone has access to software.

What I am attempting to do is design a simple outdoor structure to support a roof for an outdoor kitchen.  The main calculation will be for a simple span of 24 feet with evenly distributed load using a single southern pine timber beam.  Just trying to figure out if a 6x12 will work or if I have to go deeper to a 14.  Or if its not possible do I have to break the span to 2 12 ft spans

Thank you gentlemen

This is, indeed a Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant.  Up at 0300 and well caffinated

I'm am sick and tired, no, very angry that supposed Republican's continue to fail to support our President.  The facts are clear and the law is clear.

You can research border facts here.  https://www.fairus.org/issues/illegal-immigration

Ken and I live in border states and can attest to the degrading cities that are a result of unchecked mass illegal immigration.

These so called republicans voted against the president and its time to send them a message and send them home for not supporting the most conservative president we've had since Regan.  I'll come back and update with their re-election years since they werent up for reelection in 2020 they thought they could weather the storm.  We will not forget.

Especially Rubio.  That jackass should have learned from his failed presidential bid.  The only reason he lost is because people remembered he signed on to the Gang of Eight amnesty bill.

Here are the 12 GOP senators who defied Trump and voted in favor of the resolution and their statements.

Rand Paul of Kentucky: "Every single Republican I know decried President Obama's use of executive power to legislate. We were right then. But the only way to be an honest officeholder is to stand up for the same principles no matter who is in power."

Mitt Romney of Utah: "We experienced a similar erosion of congressional authority with President Obama's unilateral immigration orders — which I strenuously opposed. In the case before us now, where Congress has enacted specific policy, to consent to an emergency declaration would be both inconsistent with my beliefs and contrary to my oath to defend the constitution."

Marco Rubio of Florida: "We have an emergency at our border, which is why I support the president''s use of forfeiture funds and counter-drug money to build a wall. However, I cannot support moving funds that Congress explicitly appropriated for construction and upgrades of our military bases. This would create a precedent a future president may abuse to jumpstart programs like the Green New Deal, especially given the embrace of socialism we are seeing on the political left."

Mike Lee of Utah: "This is not about the president. This is not about my disagreement with or disapproval of the president or his approach to border security or his approach to build a barrier along our southern border. I think all those things need to happen. But this law, Mr. President, is wrong. It's not President Trump's fault. It's Congress'. We need to change it."

Roy Blunt of Missouri: "This issue will be settled in the courts. That could take months and result in future Presidents having emergency authority to use in other ways...I was aggressively opposed to the Obama administration's attempts to circumvent Congress's appropriating authority to prop up Obamacare. The same principle should apply regardless of which party occupies the White House."

Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania: "This is not about border security. It's about the process the president has chosen for funding that policy...The biggest concern is that it's very, very important that we honor the constitutional responsibility that is assigned to Congress to determine spending."

Lisa Murkowski of Alaska: "I take very seriously my oath to uphold the Constitution, and my respect for the balance within the separation of powers. Article 1 provides that the power to appropriate lies with the legislative branch...We can and must address the President's very legitimate concerns over border security, but we must not do it at the expense of ceding Congress' power of the purse."

Susan Collins of Maine: "By declaring a national emergency, the President's action comes into direct conflict with Congress' authority to determine the appropriation of funds — a power vested in Congress by the framers of our Constitution in Article 1, Section IX. That is why this issue is not about strengthening our border security, a goal that I support..Rather, Mr. President, it is a solemn occasion involving whether or not this body will stand up for its institutional prerogatives and will support the separation of powers enshrined in our Constitution."

Roger Wicker of Mississippi: "I am concerned about the precedent an emergency declaration sets, which might empower a future liberal President to declare emergencies to enact gun control or to address 'climate emergencies,' or even to tear down the wall we are building today...The system of checks and balances established by the Founders has preserved our democracy. It is essential that we protect this balance even when it is frustrating or inconvenient."

Rob Portman of Ohio: "The Congress, not the president, has the sole authority to determine how to spend the money. Although there is a crisis on the southern border, we are not in war time. Today I will vote to support the disapproval resolution."

Lamar Alexander of Tennessee: "I support the president on border security...But his declaration to take an additional $3.6 billion that Congress has appropriated for military hospitals, barracks and schools is inconsistent with the US Constitution that I swore an oath to support and defend...This declaration is a dangerous precedent."

Jerry Moran of Kansas: "I share President Trump's goal of securing our borders, but expanding the powers of the presidency beyond its constitutional limits is something I cannot support."

Just some observations on the SOTU

When they announced the POTUS, Pelosi clapped but she looked like she ate a turd.

Loved that he went to Kavenaugh and shook his hand.

And that Melania got a standing O.  She is the most disrespected FLOTUS of all time.
