Sensors tell you you really hit things!
I agree, butt ugly, sticks out too far and looks like you lost a lot of attack angle (but this is not for rock climbing?).
Time to break out the CAD design.

Got the old rear bumper from my dads Blazer and retrofited the mounts for the Sonoma. Thought is was a bolt in but no.
Seems to sit lower and want to add some side gussets. Plates are 1/2 and 3/8 now. Little more cleanup too.

Yep, caught it early enough. I have some water based rust/primer that will get sprayed over it after basic cleanup, then coated.
Little work on it today, put a rear bumper on the sons truck. Was from my fathers S10 blazer so the reuse is cool.

Neighbors have a new trailer with those windows, look nice. Sounds like how a mini split works.
What is a "space end"? Guess you mean a "spade".

Finished the jack move today. The wind was playing you know what with my welds. Got good burn through.
I do need to address both the corrosion on the bottom of the trailer and reroute the hyd lines. I have no idea why they went under the frame vs through. They will get a wear wrap too.

Have to relocate the wiring and will shorten the cable that was wound up up front.
I lost no ground clearance even though it is lower by an inch or so since it is closer to the dmax axle. Tailgate opens fine still.

So the first is moving the jack. What a pain to cut all the welds. Took a couple hours, really.
Once loose and cleaned up I tacked it up front the gussets. Got it straight and welded some more. Off the get a 1/4 plate for reinforcement now and a plate for the winch mount.
Winch will go right where I cut the off the jack and be placed ahead of the deck area.

Humm, thought I had a build thread on this, but nothing I could find so here we go.
So I have had this for a few years now and several things I believe need some upgrades. I have already adding mud flaps (why not factory) and have some weld on hook for the side railing. I have started already.
1) Moving the jack up front. In its current location you have to step over the frame lower the spring loaded pad. Youngest can't do yet and I hate stepping over the rail.
2) Adding a winch up front. No brainer and I got a 13k from Vevor for under $300 with synthetic rope.
3) Adding a chest under the frame. Battery box up front got filled fast and no room for blocks or the pads I like.
4) Steps, yep it needs a step on each side up front. My Maxxed trailer had em factory and they were great.
5) Extra fuel tank. For those long trips or to move the the Ridge. Will place in the frame and make sure I can fill with bed up or down.
6) Kinda last, but going to extend the bed a few feet. Just a foot up front and it will stay on the main frame. Back I want to add a 24in diamond plate that hinges to aid in loading as with full tilt the transition is pretty abrupt. It will fold up onto the bad when not used and should give just enough support for longer loads.

Once the vets stop trying to out do each other,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,soon as possible.
Weather is where I need it, perimitter is staked, just need the kubota running (fuel issues) or exc up there (kinda got on the back burner but its time!). Skid is fine, will need it to break the rock with the hammer.

Nice and even a cab! No DEF on that thing? My little 45L is trying not to run and doing a fine job.

Yep, I sold my folding steps too. Going up to Reno I found I like the side protection for the truck. Sure I have to step up a little more, but its a trade off.
Talking on bumpers, I have had a nice HD bumper kinda hidden in the garage for the last few years. It came out a couple weeks ago and getting ready to go on. I've been lucky on the "road kill" side so far.

I like deals and I need it all. Little more organization and I can dig a foundation.
Right now though I have all 3 tractors down. All run just being finicky

Bucket on there has been making the trip a few times now. Still waiting for the quick attach ears which I have.
Kubota started great, then started sputtering again. Sure is a fuel issue, so going to get all new lines and a pump. I was able to sputter along just enough to unload the trailer.
The stairs are something I have been looking and a deal finally came up. Advertised as 14 tall, but actually 9 (they included the rails) For now it will allow access to the cont top, later I will use inside the shop as it matched the drawings for second floor access.

Made another run this saturday, trip was uneventful. Good load of stuff, still got 16 mpg.
Found I had the wrong hose for the Skid, so no worky this weekend. Also the battery switch is totally non op. Brough a new one, but access is a under the control.

Did you paint it orange for that kinda damage? Gues I missed it, how did you damage it?
Good plan on the batteries, mine are great so far at the ridge.
Does it have a hot water heater on demand unit?

Dang, just saw this. Not sure which is better, Don kicking around at 70 or the pistola!
Yep Tex, they even had an FBI load for the 10mm, wimps. Now their back to the 9mm so they can spray and pray.

It did not like either at all! Alls good now, hopefully this week it starts fine. Did get a new fuel filter and battery.
Picked these up today, $400 for 5 sets. What a pain to take apart though, took 3 hours for my son and I. They were a little rusty in spots and in the dirt, zero dark thirty getting out of there. (East of Lodi)

Thought the radius arm pivots and the 4 link keeps it more or less parallel? Maybe the factory arms are way diff lengths, that would account for some pivot.
Not trying to talk D out of anything, just wondering if I'm thinking right.

« on: May 05, 2024, 08:56:40 PM »
Is it 4 link or radius arm? Radius yes, 4 link no, or so I understand.

Been looking for wheels as we do the other stuff. Stock 15x7 have almost a 6in BS for gosh sakes! We want 15x8 and if they are 4in BS and we use the 1in adapter we get about what we want. PPL on FB just say its off a jeep or cherokee, there are so many diff setups for that and lug patterns.
1 set was sold before I got there (good ol FB) and the others I'm looking at now he won't give the BS (see above).

Why an alignment? Solid front axle and no changes?
Don't remind me about the yard! I need pretty much all new grass since the leaves never got raked up last year, I mean why have kids!!!

Chore, thought it was fun? Almost can't tell there are 2 dogs there, spot above the nose gives and eye is about it.
Glad the bags aren't leaking, some you don't have to think about now.
At least it has a solid axle, IFSs are worse.

Local Sams has Diesel, but not a member there now.
Folsom has Diesel and was cheaper last time I went there. Using a Maverick in west Sac that is about .50 cheaper, but still more than NV. In fact getting out of washoe county it goes down another 30-40 cents normally.

DIC is dead on so far at 17.9 MPG and used 19 gal. Calced out to the same, close enough for me.
Local gas is $5-6, but have seen high 6s. What are you guys paying?

You mean you don't "normal"? Totally with you there, think maybe a better spring might be a better option.
No, that is just a trim I have done every few years is all. Means more now with solar is all and stupid kali power pricing. I used to do it myself, but going up a 60ft tree is not in my skill set now. I was going to rent a boom lift, but by the time I did that, did the work and hauled it all to the dump, this was cheaper!
46
« on: April 29, 2024, 10:27:48 PM »
Yep, you need a permit to cut down a tree in the city normally, not to trim. I still have some touch up to do but solar production is up almost 5k today and yesterday.
Dang Sam, maybe better springs vs trimming the frame?

Getting there. Dodge has always had solid running gear. Some of the earlier auto trans were not up to snuff and not a huge fan of the AAM front axle.
Stock wheels look good too.
Doing steps on it too? I sold my powersteps as I prefer the side protection of the stationary.

Also did new weatherstrip on the drivers door, little hard to close but better. More cleaning needed, it was a mess under there.
Averaged just over 18mpg for the trip. Even gas up in Reno is $5 a gallon, geeze. Thats 2-3 better than it was, more than worth it and looks like I sold the old set on FB.

Been looking to get the tree out front trimmed for a few years now. Last solar "true up" bill put me over the edge. Plus I am adding more solar.
Guy came by friday, said 2k with haul off. I said 1500 and the are just cleaning up now. Massive trimmings so the panels get all day sun now.
