Homeless meal 12/9/2014
« on: December 09, 2014, 08:24:24 AM »
Well another cold night but people were fed.
Our crowd seems to be on the increase despite the weather. Thank goodness the temps were in the high 30's making all this much more possible.
I am seeing a slow increase in anger and violence. But like all things, with just a couple or last night one drunken individual trying to make a mess of the whole thing.
Lucky for him, he got managed. He was angry about all the "Police Killings" going on. So I engaged him
Note to self: Don't engage drunks with logic, they just get louder.

Anyway he started with "The police are killing us on the streets" So I asked him "You think you could do it any better?" He said "we're still enslaved!" So I asked him why? With all the opportunity wasn't his comment just a scape goat one and not the truth? So he asked me, "So, Man, what is the truth?" I answered that fathers are not doing their job, and no one is responsible. I said if I had gotten to Michael Brown at a time like this before he was indoctrinated, then maybe I could have saved him.

Not that I'm anything, I am not...But to make the point. I pointed out that neither of that boys parents actually raised him. ANd I asked this angry black man if he was a father. He answered yes, 4 kids. I asked him if they lived with him...Silence. I asked him if he thought gangs and violence was a good thing. He said no to gangs but remained silent on the violence thing. Then I stepped back and adsked him to look at me. I was wearing my WW Stan flight jacket. I asked him if he noticed the jacket. He just looked. I said that I was a soldier. In my life I have had to make split second decisions when getting shot at to return fire or not. I explained that in some instances, while spraying out thousands (Millions??) of bullets we might have hit innocent kids. Was I a murderer I asked?

I told him you can't call down police officers who have a nearly impossible job to do on every single thing they do. THen I challenged him. I said, then you go do it! Stop complaining and trying to get everyone here angry and you go to the police academy and put that uniform on and then you do it right. After that I escorted him off into the shadows.

The devil will do that when you are effective. He will try to disrupt things, but we all know who wins!

Anyway, here's the tray of spaghetti I cooked up to take down there with your donated money:

Like every other time we open with a testimony, then a brief sermon

Earlier pic...The man in the red cap is our anger management candidate

CJ, one of the pastors, may be small, but he is a powerhouse of God's holy spirit

The guy in the back is a Marine and helps with security. I noticed while I was engaging my controversy, he was hovering nearby.

Hopefully, people were fed in many ways

Rick on the guitar sings praise songs almost the whole time

I wish I could take better pics, seems the flash doesn't penetrate very far, but I'd estimate we had 100-150 people there.

Thanks for all your work and asking the "hard" questions- I'll be the silence of his answers was deafening inside his head.  Hopefully the Alcohol didn't wash his dendrites completely clean and some of that stuck.

God Bless your efforts and those with you there.
