I'm liking the front bumper, kinda what I have in mine for mine but less plate. How about a tube from the main top hoop to the lower one that goes around to the side fender to protect the front corner of the front fender? Does that make sense?
Yea, we've been discussing a tube that wraps around high and angles down to the outboard mount, or a gusset plate There is more coming in tonight's post which sets the stage, so hang on to your horses for just a bit and I'll show what direction I'm heading. ;-)

So today was all about triangulating the structure and adding strength. To triangulate, I added these 1.75" Square tube uprights that go from the top of the bumper up to the upper hoop. That will add a ton of strength from a push/pull direction

As a teen I was a technical rock climber. Could lead 5.8 several pitch climbs and follow a decent 5.10
Caveat: I am certainly no expert, only a novice and there have been a lot of years since I was crawling up a multi-pitch wall.
Back then we used 11mm ropes. Later I climbed in Europe, summer technical rock stuff again using 11mm and then some 9mm double line
Still later I was supporting a mountain team in one of the Special Forces groups and they were using and gave me a bunch of the 11mm.
The rest of the Army uses some crappy braided green nylon stuff. The real climbers, both SF and Seals all use the braided, purlon, ropes. Back then we used the braided stuff to deliver rucks and things like that via a high hover, then cut the ropes and leave. Having said that the Army's Air Assault school uses the crappy three strand green nylon junk. But it worked and I was once dangling from it about 1,500 feet above the ground, hanging below a Huey who's pilot was flying us around Ft. Bragg.
I have fallen on it, and my brother took a screamer of a lead fall in the swangunks one day that I held, all on that 11mm
Climbing rope has stretch, a bunch of it, used to be as much as something like 60%!
Caving rope on the other hand, which looks like climbing rope has little to no stretch. In caving you don't want to fall very far, I guess.
If I was just going to rappel and ascent using the ascenders like you showed, I'd stick with caving type rope

I got a couple of AGM batteries that use in the garage with the winch. Those would work great, no fumes and around $40 used at the battery store (where i looked at forklift batteries). If you know someone who works cell towers they cycle them out way before they need to, got 2 free!
Know someone who works Cell Phone towers! If he ever gets a moment and comes back to the site, my oldest, Little Don, turn_one, owns "North Ridge Communications" A company that services cell towers! Where you at LD?

I do collect walnut, but there is another wood species in that stack Chesnutt Fished up from the bottom of lake Michigan, which was sitting down there some 100 or so years. I have a desk built from it.

I like some of the upper tubes I see already, but here is where I mean on the tube supports.
Cap them like the pushbar uprights.
Copy that, those other plates will get a 3/16" X 3/4" strap welded on top to make an "I" beam out of them As for more tubing...thinking about it I do like the idea of that exaggerated gusset RN came up with. Worked on the out house project all day, so didn't touch SquareD at all, maybe tomorrow...

See that section of grill running down inside of the headlight and parking light?
What would it look like with a new vertical there along with a lateral which passes just under the headlight, connects to the vertical, then another horizontal coming off the stub on the middle horizontal?
That along with something like that corner gusset would "Grid up" and tighten up everything considerably

Where were you thinking? I wanted to go around the headlights with something but with the 1.75" die and it's larger radius, I couldn't get a bend I liked in there. Open to suggestions Like a sketch or something... And I will be adding more reinforcing along the bottom and inside as well. I hear they are puttin' a bit more plastic reinforced metal in those Kias!
