Gentlemen this will be our seventh year of doing this Christmas thing.
This year it seems everyone is in a hurt. I am looking at one candidate family right now who is in a bad way. Last year the husband dies in a very strange manner. I hear that while driving down the highway his car suddenly, literally exploded and he was either killed by that event or burned to death, not that it matters. He has a family of three boys and a wife who has average work skills. She started working, cleaning homes and that was going well enough until this Covid nightmare kicked in.
She subsequently lost her job and now the family is about at the end of the rope, sustained by meager unemployment and some donations. They live in a mobile home and with it getting much colder her heating bills are bound to upset the apple cart.
I'd suggest we give this family cash. Now I can give her a check, or I can pay ahead her electric bill, or get a gift card for Kroger, or a combination of all of the above plus something else.
Anyway tonight, the anniversary of a day which will live in infamy, the Real-Man Christmas collection begins
Like always, the donations shall remain anonymous so that he/she who gives shall not lose the blessing.
And ahead of your generosity, thank and may God Bless all of you!

Just checked our account. It looks like we are starting with $5 in the till... :likebutton:

First big one just came in for $100. Thank you sir!
Total $105
Edit: I can't read my own accounting! We had $100 remaining in the account, not $5!!!
So, we have $200 total so far for this distressed family
And here's some advice. If you don't want to give, then don't. If you are unsure, I suggest you get real quiet, repent and slowly approach the Lord and ask him to direct you. He may say "You gave at the office, you're good." Or he may say something else. The number we give be it large or small will be the exact amount our God wishes the family to receive. I place this firmly in his hands and in faith. I know I have a good number of real men on this site who will do what their Lord tells them to do. I will not endeavor to understand the why or how or how much, but simply find joy in the simple task of gathering for this family.

That family sounds like a worthy cause, Big D!

I do think so. Not sure if the husband served, and I am in the background on this.
Another gentleman has just donated $110
Brings our total to $310
Thank you sir!

And another long time member and gentleman just donated $100
Total: $410
Thank you Sir!

Well, OK we have yet another donation. This one is a nice even number of $113.16
I mean, ya, I can see it, makes sense to me ;-))
This particular rascal has yet again proven he is essential to the body. This odd confederation of misfits, odd balls, the occasional gifted and the many others who have create a synergy that can only be understood by the almighty himself.
Me, well, I just go wit' it
Thank you sir and may God abundantly bless your home with many gifts of love and joy and bless the others who have selflessly given in some secret way that makes them smile!
$113.16...seriously

Maybe some guys assume PayPal takes a cut, and add a little extra on top?
Like $13.16 exactly? Lol

Maybe Kenneth
But knowin' this rascal personally, I'd say he just wanted to screw with the system some and make Don have to do some extre' cypherin'. That and he figured the ".16" would screw up the careful alignment in the 5 year long donation's columns.

Anyway, we now have $523.16 to donate to this deserving family.

I LIKE that!

Another worthy cause again!
I like the idea of paying the heating bill and food.
I don't think PP takes a cut for donations, just merchant payments. But looking at the PP info, it goes to Realman LLC, like a business. Perhaps setting the donation link as a non profit might help.

JR, it doesn't matter. I always round up the money anyway to make it nice and even, and happy to do so.
Another fine gentleman just donated $100. Thank you very much
This brings us to $623.16 so far...Way to GO!!!
-
And we have another $100 to add to the tally!
Now $723.16
I'm hoping for a nice fat check to hand to that mother. Speaking of which, I am thinking I will need to do that somewhere at or just past the 20th so that she will have it before Christmas. Honestly, I do not know if she is needing basic necessities like food/electricity/mortgage...or if she could do something small for the boys. In any event, thinking/praying about it, I am getting the 20th as the proper time to donate.
-
Yippee,
Another generous gentleman (GG) has given $50 to this family

Great karma!

for everybody that donated using the PayPal link in the donations tab, please keep an eye on your accounts! we had a member that got their PayPal account compromised! Don and I have done some digging and have come to the conclusion that the breech did not come from our end. I am putting this out there as a precaution so folks can keep an eye on their accounts.
this is cross posted as well to make sure the word gets out there!

So, Nate put it out that a member was hacked by someone headed for the lower places upon their passing. Good that another earthworm gets planted where they belong, but bad in that it may have placed a damper on the giving spirit here.
I don't know that the event turned anyone away from giving, and although I wish that it had not, I am not concerned. Know why? Because I really believe God is at the core of what goes on here. He is way up the food chain from me and I'll bet he is fully in command. Nothing that some devil can do can affect his in the least, he could simply think them into annihilation. I feel it is my job to place this platform to give here to allow members to have a place to do what their God may tell them to do. I am only a facilitator. Admittedly it is fun, but in the end it is just the evidence of what God has done in men's lives. For that, I thank you Lord, and I thank you men who honor this site and me with your presence.

And here we have a new record...
Another God loving person upped the ante by $202 to establish an all time record and site personal best of:
$1415.16...Nice, very nice
So, here is how the timeline is probably going to work out: I was planning on donating this to the mother of the family today, however I now think I will do it Tuesday. I had this late donation just come in, which had me think, if I should give folks a day or so more. I have to travel some tomorrow, the 21st and have a "Medical procedure" on the 23rd, so that leaves the 22nd or the 24th, or even the 25th. I found out that a local church is donating some nice things for the boys, and I intended to target the family's hard needs such as food, utility payment, car repair or similar and therefore just money would be best. Now that I know there are actually something showing up for them, there is no hurry to get her the money just so the boys get something as it were, but have the money arrive so that mom has it to alleviate some of the post Christmas "Where's my next check coming from" stress. So I think that's what we will do, barring some prayerful input from all of you's'es...

Well, Gentlemen, another one in the bag, our seventh so far of anomalously bless someone in need. Today My son and I drove over the the trailer park where the family lives that we decided to bless this year and delivered the check.
We never entered the home, but stayed outside and spoke with this mother for just a few minutes. I told her about you all. This has to be such a strong affirmation of the love of God that in this case he chose to express through those of you who gave. She was trying to hold back the tears, but they came anyway as I spoke of men who she would never meet and were scattered all over who came together to meet her at her point of need. I told her about how someone always corrected the balance to reflect 3:16 for the famous verse of the gospel of John. She was visibly shaken when hearing that.
Afterwards my son and I said goodbye and drove away. We felt great. I drove straight to Mickey-D's and purchased two large milkshakes which we nursed on the drive back home.
Thank all of you, and thank you father God for giving us this opportunity and for loving us so much, we are not worthy...

it is awesome what man can do when he listens to the Holy Spirit inside of us. To God goes the glory.

Always thankful for you Don and doing this every Christmas. It is easy to donate but difficult to get out and take care of that family.
Merry Christmas! :likebutton:

I thank you Mike, but take zero credit. I am just a man
You men of conscience made this happen, and I know you will be blessed for following that voice inside you.
So this one is water over the falls
On to the next thing, whatever that may be.
I wouldn't be surprised if od gives us other things to do as well since he knows we are faithful.
I stand ready to serve him and you'ses all's ;-))
-
Awesome. Financially it’s been a good year for us despite the virus. I’m glad my donation can do some good.
-
So, we just got a late arriving donation for $25. It is obviously not in time for this year's Christmas give-away, so we will save it for the next opportunity God hands us. Thanks for caring!
