^^ true dat!

Kyle it may sound counter intuitive, but faster is better on the box blade.  You should have a scale on the lever that controls the height of the box.  Back into the pile and drop the blade to a fairly high setting and then drive off. Once you get it spread roughly, then go over it with the box at a level that barely skims the surface. Keep going over it and make the turn and come back without changing the blade height.  Then lower it a small amounts and go back over it again.  repeat until its smooth.

What was that green thing that seemed (am I mistaken???) to be running and moving on its own accord?

I remember seeing something like that on my farm, but not very often...

Time for an update. Lawn in coming in nicely, back area is sprouting and filling in, and got the shop driveway paved

This is the back part of the property. Mowed it with the rider after rolling it out with my toe behind roller.

Finally, got the shop driveway paved

Pano of the back

If you don't mind, what did the asphalt run ya? What's your driveway dimensions? I've been kicking that around since my shop drive is only 1 car wide and 100ft long. makes backing the trailer in difficult.

Thx Tate.

Driveway was  about 6500 including grade prep and paving. 2.15/sq ft. 120' long from street to shop, 15' wide. Then it opens up further back as you can see in the photos

It's a blessing for sure.

Running power, water, gas, and comm will have to wait a bit. After those are in, I'll run air lines around the work area to the compressor room, then insulate and sheet.

For now, just trying to get the shell done and finished from the exterior.

Heck yeah. It will be something I Nickle and Dime as time goes on. Electric will be sooner than everything else so I can get lights  out there. No rush on water and gas tho

Getting the structure up will enable us to have the RV and boat under cover and out of the rain/sun

Basically keeping dirty/oily/greasy crap out of my septic tank. Will just drain the wash basin into the dirt, albeit underground, out back behind the shop. Don't tell the EPA.

No different than hot pressure washing an old greasy tractor in your driveway. Just don't want all that stuff going into my septic

5gal bucket might be small. Maybe a 55gal drum cut in half, upside down) with drain rock in the bottom

You can get 15-30 gallon jugs on ebay. Old 50 gal barrels can be had at many nursery's or sportmans guide for under $50.

I have a bunch of 15s that works great for cleaning and moving water around, but they get heavy!

Have a switchable trap for the slop sink or just remove the trap. Not a big deal when washing hands as the soap will break it down just like it comes off the hands.

What I did in my step dads shop when we installed the concrete & in ground lift (lift was recessed into the floor so it was lowest point or where we needed a drain) was to run that drain over to 50 gallon plastic drum under the concrete. I built a nice removable steel lid for it as well but the drain from the lift came in near top of drum. Then about a foot lower I had the outflow tube which ran through a commercial oil filter material in a housing in the line. Can't recall where I purchased it but back then I was doing water treatment & sewage treatment construction so guessing it was a supply catalog for them. Once it exited this filter it went out into a field tile. Pretty good system as the big solids & dirt settle in the 50 gal (can be cleaned out whenever) & the filter absorbs the oil. So as the good stewards of the land that we are its left in good shape for our kiddos...... ;)

Awe heck. The oil came from the ground, I feel that's it's only our duty to put it back there!

jk, but for what it's worth, my shop is septic, and washing our nasty hands 20 or more (2-3 people) times a day for several years hasn't affected it. The bacteria is stronger than Zep hand cleaner I guess....but...I also keep straight chemicals/oil out of the sink.

You ever see them dig up tanks because they leaked or had to move them?

They put all that dirt under a tarp and let the DIRT (and its little critters) eat all the contaminates from it.
