Now Chuck Norris never actually cooked his barbecue, nor cleaned up afterward. He just starred it down to the right temperature!

I worked with a guy that was a seamstress in the army and he did top notch upholstery. ... that were you picked up the skill Nate?

i actually learned/knew how to do it before i was even in high school.  the oxygen thief incubator and my grand mother did it very well.

I just throw mine over my shoulder....jus sayin

I’m a paper towel or back pocket guy

I’ve always used a pocket too.

i am with you all.....i just got sick of a damp towel on my shoulder and in my pockets let alone the food remanence that gets left behind as well.

if a company ever made a retractable system (like the retractable key chain) that could stand the weight of a towel, i would buy it in a heartbeat?

Finished redoing my headlights and coated the grill with Plastidip today. Hopefully that will hold up better to rock chips than the thick layer of paint did.... the grill was chipped really bad.

The right headlight was yellow, even though it's always in the shade, and I don't drive with headlights on during the day.
..no before pics, but the Sylvania kit worked as good as the reviews stated.
I think someone on here has used it also.

So about 1730 I get a call from my youngest who is out riding his new bike with friends.

"Dad, I think I broke my arm" Well I find out where he is (wife asks if I will take him to the ER!!!!), I jump in the truck and take him to the ER. (it looks broken)

We wait about 1/2 hour once there and we finally get him to xray, yep, clean break just below the wrist. They numb him up and do the reset. Novocain or not, you could see it hurt and not a peep out of him.

In a temp cast now, will recheck on monday and scedule the permanet cast. He made me proud taking both the shot and setting along with the wait.

Kids are kids, we have all done it.

Had a campout with the scouts this weekend. Most of them are still asleep I'm up making coffee. Anyway I need a new fat guy summer sleeping bag. These old WalMart ones I've had for 20 years are fine but I can't roll over in one anymore.

I take my big winter bag and sleep on top of it.  Much like I do in at the house anyway.  Or just a leg inside it.

The idea with the garage posts was who has what in the garage and can fit a car in it.   I thought I typed “can’t” pull shops into it.   Ken has more garage then I do house, Shawn’s shop is pretty fluid with things in and out. Jon can’t bring in barns either. Just garages attached to houses.

This Dave here^^^^ Is the all time winner of any garage thread past present or future. I think the world trade center had a bigger one, but someone wrecked all that, so Dave is the winner.

Since we are excluding barns, I can't hope to enter my upcoming modest 30X50X12, and the two garages attached to my house are always full of something, much the same as our stumblin' err, sitting president.

Yeah, I think I’ve said it before, but we were extremely blessed when we found this house. ~5000 sq ft in the main house, a 6000 sqft garage, and a second house of about 1000 sqft. I’ll post the floor plan for you perusal when I get logged into my computer.

Here’s the layout of the house garage and second house. The house is the red part, garage is blue, and the little house is green. And yes, those drawings are scale.

Would I pay that, no. But looking at prices for new 4x4s and that has been fully restored it does not seem all that bad.

You should see what square bodies go for at Barrett Jackson. 30k is cheap!

Edit: just remembered Charles'post up above, about the one for 300k.
I've heard that they average 30-100k depending on the year and quality.

I just purchased two skilsaw worm drives.

98% of the paint is still in perfect shape on the bottom of the deck.   I think they purchased the new 60v dewalt saws and never looked back

I paid $100 for both will seek one to my cabinet shop buddy

Would I pay that, no. But looking at prices for new 4x4s and that has been fully restored it does not seem all that bad.
What I was thinking when I purchased my 02 from them. Ended up paying $15K for a burb as clean as the blazer/Jimmy pictured. So, ya, a lot more than a craigslist unit, concur. But I picked up one of the cleanest survivors in the country, a 3/4 ton that hardly required a cleanup. All I really had to do was get right on the modifications and skip all the body work, and panel replacement and all the rest of the fuss I had to do on SquareD before I ever started creating the vehicle.
In my view, it's smart time management and smart money to buy them like this. Just don't sell them later.
And on that note, when I thought about selling my burb back to them, they were willing to give double what I paid, so the things do hold some residual value. Good pristine examples are becoming more and more rare all the time, and frankly, who is ever going to want to restore this modern junk we are forced to drive these days?

Yes,  in my years lugging them around on roofs. I don’t think I could have told ya the weight diff made any sense to me but. They are both bomb proof and will be in the tool bin long after I die.

These battery jobs are great until you have to toss a ugly blade on the saw and rip through shingles and sheeting on a roof to re sheet it.

Got to play with the mill today. I've been wanting a magnetic guide to use for plasma cutting, and had some 1/4" thick aluminum angle and high strength magnets already.
I experimented with the depth of the magnets to get the right hold strength without having them exposed. This will make wiping off filings easier, in theory.

The magnets are epoxied in.

What mill do you have Ken?

The bridgport I used for vise jaws sure didn’t like running out 13 inches to get both ends

That magnet fence looks 2+ feet.   Fantastic idea for metal work. Even using as a pencil/scribe line it’s great.

Ordered this self inflating military sleeping mat. Directions said open valve let it fill then close valve. That didn't work I had to blow it up. So I guess you could say it was self inflating because my self inflated it.

Got it from Colemans military surplus on line. I order all kinds of stuff from them. This was the first thing that didn't really come as advertised.

Nice work there Ken and good idea.

Dave, I think he just milled the holes, but even at 2+ft a full size mill should have a 30 in travel.

Jon, I don’t have that one but the ones I have like being left inflated not rolled.
Leave it in the inflated state if at all possible. It helps.
But.
You will be part of the self inflating most likely still butto a lesser degree.

Thanks. It's 24".
... and I did mill the bottom edge to thin it out to match the torch shield, and the top edge to have a straight edge for marking. My mill has about 18" of travel, so that was a real blast.
It's a Grizzly Dave. A much cheaper mill than a Bridgeport. (Taiwan)

John, I laughed at the "inflated myself." That was funny I don't care who you are
