Long story short, my Jeep died, and I replaced it with a 2018 F150 with the 2.7 EcoBoost. I'll be updating with photos and the minor projects I've done already. Stay tuned. The Jeep on it's send off: My truck a few months later:

i have a dash cam (read : a cheap one) and it supports up to a 32GB memory card, is there a way to have it put the video files on a hard drive in the car? I tried a larger memory card but it doesn't work. I thought about it while I was driving home from work.

So I know one (1) veteran personally who has received a K9 from this group and it's changed his life. I met him and his wife at the last charity event I participated in, the white water rafting / paintball outing. Well their trying to raise money to help out the Group he received his dog from. So if you'd like to help out I'm sure there's a Vet out there who'll reap the benefits. During the Vet Freefall event the Charity held in August, I met another Vet who had service dog (Not from this same group) and it helped her cope. https://www.booster.com/operation-k9-fall-fundraiser?type=1&side=front

As the title alludes it is wintertime in Wisconsin. Today after work, I was chilling on my couch and the fire alarm goes off; no problem. I throw my Carhartt jacket on over my hoodie, throw on my Merrells and roll out.
Apparently people don't think to grab warm stuff. Case in point, I'm outside, there are some fellow apartment dwellers outside, in a gaggle formation outside the door. I approach, stand off to the side and listen to the multitude of conversations ranging from.. this is crap (actual content edited) and "it's too cold"; again read the subject. I look over after a couple minutes and a lady around my age is shaking, as in cold.
I pulled my Carhartt off and a couple dudes looked at me and were like " he's warm?!?"
My response was, "No, I'm giving the jacket to her so she stops shaking..."
You think other people would have thought of the corrective action to a lady shivering...

No not one of the mouth breathers. My nephew got me an Air Hog RC helicopter. Let's just say I won't be taking on any CAS jobs in the near future. I can hover it, but she doesn't respond to well to the controls...

Ken had an idea to have a show off your (.....) thread. So if you have a hunting rifle that you are quite fond of, or a firearm that's been passed down through your family, or just a cool pic of one of your firearms that you want to share, here's your thread to do it. IF you have an AR that you built and think it's amazing, let's see it. If you have an old military rifle, be it a French Lebel, Russian Mosin, German Mauser, American 1903 or Garand, or British Lee Enfield lets see them.

It's a great day. All day football games. I was asked if I wanted to go to a fair that's in the area, I declined. It's a football and hang out with Bear day.
On that note, Nate I need some 'Q. Football without BBQ isn't the same.

Yea that's right 75 years ago the U.S. Army officially decided that jumping from a plane was a good idea, after a platoon of volunteers decided to run with it and jump out of a plane, and in doing so started the ground work for the legion of badasses to follow.

So I was out exploring and wandered into a gun shop in the area. The guy builds precision rifles and etc. He had one of the rifles he built for a customer up on the counter. Remington 700 in 6.5 Creedmore, with a carbon fiber barrel. It's stiffer than a steel barrel of the same length, has a match liner and the whole package was pretty light. I had never seen a carbon fiber barrel before, and it does seem like an interesting and weight saving option.Sorry didn't take any pics.

This isn't a real DOT post, per say.
Does anyone have access to CarFax? I've been thinking about getting the unlimited VIN check option, but thought I'd ask to see if anyone else already has it.

This is a pseudo-build/maintenance combo. I bought XJ last year in November, and I really haven't done much to her except maintenance. I had an idea of what I'd like to do, and I'm still working towards it, just remember it isn't going to be as crazy as CMax, and definitely nowhere near as in-depth as D2.
I'm limited in what I'm able to do as it is strictly VERBOTEN to work on vehicles in my apartment complex so a lot of the more "complicated" or multiple step jobs will be done by a guy I work with. He works on vehicles on the side, so if it has to be welded or I'm unable to perform a task, he gets the job.
My end result for XJ would be to have a 3" lift with 31" tires.. Why only 3" w/31s? Well, I don't know of many places in Wisconsin to go off-roading or wheeling or whatever you wish to call it, and I'm more into the "let's go explore this trail.." type thing, so XJ is going to lean slightly to the expedition side of things. I also don't have the money/time/experience necessary to upgrade the axles, re-gear, add lockers, exo skeletons, and the other fun things for anything hardcore, so that pretty much figures into it as well.
SPECS: 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport I6 4.0 4sp auto AW-4 NP 231 transfer case Axles: Dana 30, Chrysler 8.25 3.55 gear ratio 235/75/15 Duratracs Worn out shocks, and sagging leaf springs.
So with out further ado:
Yea nice rust huh?
I LOVE the GoodYear DuraTracs:
Last winter with all the snow and ice we had, I had no trouble getting around, and I even drove through an unplowed lot where I work, with nice drifts and didn't use 4wd. I did, however, put it in 4Hi and 4Lo just to try them out and it was outstanding. So from here on out I'm always going to rock the Duratracs...

After the topic of vacuum bagging came up in another thread, I decided to give it a whirl. Here's what I made.... Breakfast packs!! Ingredients1/2 cup quick oats Blue berries Cranberries Maple syrup, Cinnamon pecan granola Brown sugar At first, I just added the berries, by reaching over and grabbing a pack, however after 1 pack, I just mixed the berries together and scooped it out. That way you received a mix of berries. I also added slightly less than 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar, who doesn't add it to oatmeal?? I saw a bag of granola at Wal Mart and decided to try it in the packs. I sealed the berries, brown sugar or granola is their own vacuum bag, then vacuumed sealed that inside the bigger bag containing the oatmeal. I made these packs as a 1 servings, so a just for me, just to see how it'd turn out. It works so this upcoming weekend I'll give it a shot in using the rest of the oatmeal and granola and et al and making larger portions. Ingredients: End Results: And just because I went cheese shopping... Clockwise from top left : Fresh cheddar, Bacon & onion cheese, Swiss, Pepperjack

To help out here's an outline.

I'm currently doing a 2x a month drain and fill on the transmission on XJ to eventually swap out all 12-14 qts of fluid. While laying under it, and watching the fluid drain out, I had a thought of a pump. I don't want to take XJ to the dealership or a lube place to have them use their pump and charge way to much, so how hard would it be to make my own?
My thoughts were since you can order ,most if not all, fluids necessary for your vehicle in bulk, it should be relatively easy. Acquire a 5 gallon bucket, mark it off in quarts, drop in the tube which is hooked to a pump and it should push the new fluid in, while pushing the old crap out.
So what kind of pump and how big, where to source it? If I can get what I need, I will give this a shot. If it's a losing battle, and just as effective to do a drain and fill, repeat then filter swap, then that's what I'll do. Just an idea.

Not so much a recipe, but a list of good for yous' that I've accumulated, only thing is I"d limit the mayo, but that's just my opinion. I don't have a how much per item to eat but if you know you're caloric intake requirements and what you're using to make a meal you can figure it all out.

I said I would do a review/post up some info on lights, and here you go. I have pics and info on the following lights. L-R1. Streamlight ProTac2L 2. SureFire Nitrolon 3. Intova 4. Inforce 5. Streamlight Polystinger 6. Petzl Tikka Headlamp I should mention that, I will be giving information from the manufacturer, so as to give as accurate information as possible. As you can see, I have used/use a variety of lights, and for the most part prefer using LEDs. I tried to give you a sense of the brightness of the lights, but the camera doesn't really capture the differences very well. I took the pics from one wall in my bedroom to the other so approximately 10-13'. What's also important to take into account is the amount of light that's "thrown" around the centerpoint. While it's nice to have a blinding light that throws light a long distance, you have to also consider the light that illuminates the scene, allowing you to notice objects in your immediate area. You can see the "halo" if you will in the pics. If I had more room I would put objects at different areas/distances so you could see how the "halo" is helpful is scene illumination. I also keep a red filter on the headlamp and SureFire light, and they've been on there for years so I'm used to the diminished light output. You may not like it, but they aren't hard to swap out.

Once, I get my laptop all fixed, as to allow me to open photos, I will be posting up a review of different lights available. I will try to get a broad selection of the more commonly used lights and compare/contrast them side by side. Bear with me while I attempt to acquire a few from people I know.
If you know of a light you want to be reviewed that's not on my list, let me know and I'll see what I can do, but no promises. I'll try my best to accommodate everyone's requests, so bear with me. As of now the list is pretty generic, until I get closer to the test.
LIST: SureFire Streamlight Insight Eagletac
My plans are to do a weapon mounted and handheld light review so I will keep everyone updated. This will be a work in progress, so bear with me and enjoy the ride. As always if you need a question answered, PM me or ask it in here.

So my cousin is getting married in June off next year, neat, however I'm standing up in the wedding (Bobby in a suit?!?!). I've been slacking in the gym as of late, so I shall henceforth be doing non-fun 2 a day cycles at the gym. The "routine" if one wishes to call it such, will consist of:
Cardio ( I used to love running, now not so much) Free Weights The Army standards (push ups, situps, pull ups, running -see above) CrossFit Diet
I will be updating progress here. I'm going to take things slow at first to work back into the insanity. The start time for all this fun is NLT 1Oct.
Remember: I am not a fitness guru, I just do what I've done since I was in the Army, and add in weights and CrossFit, so what works for me won't necessarily work for you. However, if I can help you in someway shape or form, don't be afraid to PM me or post a question up in here.
Just remember, I work a normal shift, but I do get the "can you come cover", or "someone called in, can you make it in by..." . It may seem like I'm ignoring you, but I will respond soon as I can.
