I know I’m going to be happy. 7 year 100k bumper to bumper factory warranty. I don’t have to worry about anything but maintenance until 11/2025

Can’t decide if I’m going to put 100lbs of tannerite in the Benz and light it up or just sell it

I soooooo wanted to show up in the LB7 at the dealer with the trailer and load the new one up and drive off....

But alas she wanted to drive it home

Mr Woody, it just kept costing me money on repairs and I finally said enough is enough.  In the last 3 years its been: oil cooler, both front air struts, glow plug controller, tranfer case, 7th injector, and now the DEF heater

Of course its probably fine now but I've just had enough.  If I can get 10K-11K for it I'll be happy.  Its an '09 with 125k on it.

Funny... the license plate starts with GJ as in Don’s Wife’s “Girly Jeep” and at first glance the end looked like ‘VW’ as in Don’s disaster of a Touareg but is really VM.

Oh the odd things I notice...

Living with first world problems. Home phone and internet went down yesterday morning at about 9AM. Come to find out that a train took out some low hanging lines due to icing from a storm that rolled through.  Managed to find the break location and took some pics. Snapped a couple of telephone poles and broke the large aerial lines.

It’s also affecting cell phone service, so we can’t even do much that way. Oh well, they say it should be restored by Saturday evening. I think it’s wishful thinking.

Looks good Ken. I drove into town to the flooring store to look at tile and carpet. I’m probably going to stroke a check and just get it over with.

That will leave me with cabinets, finish plumbing, and finishing the trim. Oh and a spiral staircase.

Celebrated my 47th year on this beautiful planet. Gave myself a spotting scope to put on my desk for while I’m working. It’s a fairly inexpensive Barska 20-60x60.  I also moved my desk to our sunroom that sits at the back of the house. I have about a 200yd view to the back woods. My wife told me to put the gun cabinet in there Incase I see a deer while I’m working I can just lean over, slide open the door and shoot.  I like the way she thinks. :)

Well, it’s official, a couple of my in-laws are coming into town for a visit over Christmas. Now I have to get the little guest house fixed up enough for them to stay there instead of the main house. First order of operations is getting the electrical turned on. The power has been turned off for a while(since before I bought it). It has its own service from the local power coop(currently connected in the panel), but also has a 100 amp line from the garage to the panel which is disconnected(at bottom of panel in pic). I’m going to disconnect the public utility connection and reconnect the line from the garage, that way it is all on the same bill and I’m not hit with their minimum service fee of $19 a month. I’ll also probably clean up the electrical panel while I’m at it.

Any of you think of a reason I might not want to do it this way?

Well i assume you don’t have a meter in it so the lines at the top are not hot.

I don’t see a neutral on the 100 amp from the garage.

You should have 2 legs of 120 and a neutral. Then your sub panel should have a separate ground rod and the panel should not be bonded to the ground.

Only the service entrance panel grin d and neutral should be bonded. That’s the only place your neutral and ground are together electrically speaking.  In sub panels the neutral can be current carrying and bonding it to the grounds can lead to a risk of shock

X2 to what Charles said, but there should also be a ground back to the main panel in addition to the local ground rod. And it needs to be separated from the neutral at the sub panel as he said.

And this is why I have an electrician coming by tomorrow. I’ll see what he has to say when he gets here. I’m fine with running additional circuits and such, never hooked up a sub panel before. Luckily I have conduit between the garage and this panel, so hopefully we can just pull another conductor for the neutral and call it good. This was supposedly installed to code when it was done, but who really knows at this point.  He’s going to clean up the panel at the same time, so at least that will be done.

Thanks for the replies and pointers. Contrary to what Don thinks of us Air Force guys, we aren’t always the smartest guys in the room on every subject, just the smartest military guys in the room.  ;)

After doing some more reading, I might not be allowed by code to pull a separate neutral. I’ll see what my guy says tomorrow.

I’d be curious as to what he says too.  the code can get so complicated that there are many arguments over simple stuff and each electrician does it slightly different
