Thank all of you for the prayers. Bev passed yesterday morning.
our prayer was for a miraculous healing if that were God's will, but for a quick passing if not. We got door number 2. This thing came on so rapidly, the time of suffering was very limited. I think our prayers were answered!

Praise our Lord!

If you haven't bought the little trailer yet, do you really need it since the VW won't tow it. Just keep pulling the larger trailer with the Duramax. More room for the family and the truck won't care at all.

Know what, maybe this summer, if things in my life calm down by then, we and the other guys on here from Western Wa and others that wanted to attend could get together for a meet and greet PICNIC. Get a couple smokers and grills heated up and enjoy. Must be a nice park somewhere close to center of us that could handle a small group.

Kind of late to the party but been running. Haven't even washed the rigs in a long time. 1969 ElCamino that is fun to drive but won't tow much. Numbers matching 350/350.
2011 2500 HD short bed GMC, stock with a cap and bed rug in the back. Nice to sleep in while hunting or fishing. I don't haul stuff, I tow stuff. Two boats, a 14,000 lb dump trailer, 12,000 lb flat bed trailer, and a 34 ft 11,500 lb travel trailer. Also my daily driver

Smoked/Grilled Corned Beef
The Glaze:
 2 TBS light brown sugar
 4 TBS Prepared yellow mustard
 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
 1 tsp diced onion
 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Soak two hours in warm water to remove some of the salt. Use the water to cook the vegies
Had to use a gas grill as that was what we had. wrapped wood chips in foil and set on burner shield. Indirect heat with pan of apple cider and water below the beef. This was after about 1/2 hour.

Replacing the front wheels is good, hard to chase them four wheel coasters around. If it handles that Cummins it should handle anything else you will be dealing with. Those things do weigh lots. Only real problem with my kids Dodge, front end always wanted to sink in and stop all the forward movement of the truck.

Nice trailer, Those dump trailers are so handy for so many things. Biggest problem with mine is it sits close enough to the ground to make for easy loading of equipment, but that makes it hard to dump material into a contained pile.

The new stinger and ball, make sure it is weight rated high enough for that loaded trailer. If your truck hasn't had the stock hitch replaced yet, that could also be a problem. Those round GM hitches are known to twist, crack, or tear apart. The tongue weight on the stock hitch is very low rated both dead weight and with weight distribution.

Is that cable bound up or bent when attached to the transfer case and not so much when you had the drill motor attached to it. Maybe squirt some good light oil in there to help it out.

4.5 oz lean ground chicken patty w/ braggs aminos and apple cider vinegar/lemon juice 50/50. asparagus and cherry tomatoes and romaine lettuce around 4oz as well. I'm doing a special diet with my wife, I'm down 17lbs since last sunday, she's already lost 49lbs since Dec.
Good for you both...Nice photo of the appetizer what was dinner? Nate's stuff always looks more filling to me.

Did someone say workbench thread?

Cardboard welding tables to milk crate work tops, where else than here does it get so outside the box..

JR...... I have re-centered H1 wheels yes. Three sets over the years.

The process I always used was to swipe time on a friends large lathe and do the cutting/welding on that. That usually made for nice wheels as far as runout. What I often ran into issues with using H1's was balance problems. Also the 3.5" BS using pressed centers never thrilled me.

JR, need to borrow your thread a moment

Norm,
On the subject of balancing the H1 recentered wheels, how did you do it?
Do you recall how I am attempting to do it?
I added about two tablespoons of BB's and several tablespoons of the air-soft plastic beads
I added all that outside of the dual beadlock
I do not want out of balance wheels

Now this sounds like a great reason for a new thread in the tires and wheels section, not just a DOT post

You and me both. Their quality has fallen off the deep end in the last decade, and I despise working on them....they remind me of the old, oil leaking, Renault Alliances that won "Car of the Year" back when.

Site Help / Re: site improvement
« on: February 27, 2015, 01:08:44 PM »
Wow, big task trying to provide the information needed to provide food sources for yourself long after an event. People that live outside the city most likely have raised a garden of some kind, and maybe even raised a chicken, goat, or a cow or two. The people that have lived the city life forever another story.
Depending on the size, type, and damage of an event would drive the long term needs. We all need to plan for short term survival while working with a network of family and friends that can each help provide for that group. Waiting until the event happens to start growing a garden or finding enough land to be raising animals using information from a website is not the answer in my opinion. Having said that however, if someone wants to start posting up information, it looks like information would be plug and play into already created areas.

Tires, Wheels, and Suspension / Re: Mud tire thread
« on: February 26, 2015, 02:17:25 PM »
My son ran the Toyo tires on his Dodge and had very good luck with them. They did wear quicker than other tires but lots of traction. He worked a forest greens business so he was on steep, either heavy rocked, or deep heavy slick mud, logging roads both current use ones and very old single track almost every day through the fall and winter in rain, sleet, snow, mud, and ice. He pulled heavy trailers and hauled heavy with his pickup both in the woods and at 65 on the pavement getting product to the sheds.  He always said until they make a better tire he will stick with the Toyo's as they never let him down.

Chronometer....The big thing I have against the range here I belong to. They will absolutely not allow time to get it set up right so the hoods or pickups don't get blown apart and that it is on target. So I end up working up the loads at the range, then head to hills to shoot across the chronograph. No big deal unless you have a dozen different rifles or bullet weights to work up.

I can't respond to the factory hitch as I have never considered towing with the VW. If after market hitches are available to handle the additional tongue weight then the option is there if not then maybe the frame or front end is not made for the weight distribution type hitches.

When working with the "lite" trailers you have to carry what you need for the trip not what you might need and all the tools to repair replace anything that could break. Creature items alone for us weigh in at close to 1,000 lbs. That includes food but stuff adds up fast. Granted we have much more net weight than these smaller rigs but it is still near the max GVW when heading out.

If your plan is to keep the trailer you have plus this one...Maybe... If you are trading it for a smaller one I would go with the larger Lance you posted first. Much more room and inside cloths storage

That is a good brand for sure. Been around a long time building slide in campers. Looks good from here cept for the slide topper. Those things are good for something I guess but hard to get debris that the wind deposits on the top of the slide off and if you cold weather camp and they ice up then what. I use the blue tarps cousin the white tarp when winter camping laying on top of the slide so I can pull the snow and ice off  the roof before pulling in the slide.

If I got one, it would get some "Don stylin" that would make it pretty unique me thinks

OD green
Water can mounts
Gun rack
2kw generator
Double the propane
Dual 6VDC batteries
100W solar panel
One way glass treatment
Antenna for CB/GMRS
Flat black Awning
Water purification unit
Maybe, just maybe, a DR-650 mount
Lifted
Mo-biggerer tires
Other koul stuff!

Remember added weight on an RV can be an enemy if not balanced properly. The thing has a light weight frame and walls, makes for extra work when mounting stuff. If you want an awning attached, either find one with an awning or order one with at least the attachment bracing in place. Maybe want to talk with factory with your plans and they could add bracing as needed for your extras when they are building it. They are not built for rough, off road travel, but you don't get off the asphalt anyway.

Check with your credit union or bank loan dept. they are usually much less cost than a dealer. I have bought extended warranty on my 11 as everything costs more than what the 7 year plan cost. First time I have bought one, but sleep a bit better knowing the problems these things have.

Wow, what an experience. I guess that is why the hitch people place max weight limits on their stuff. The trailer coupler, well you were darn lucky you didn't go through a section of rough road at 80 and have that give away.

I have spent some time in that town also...WONDERFULL any time of the year. Our daughter and her family were there for the lighting also. Lots of river rafting in the summer.

I feel better, I thought it was just me with those feelings right now.

1995
And the last sentence is tongue in cheek but, my prayers are out to all the communities that have protest activities this night. Why some people think it is ok to burn down or destroy the place they call home is way beyond me. Here in the Seattle area last night the freeway was blocked off so the people could stand in the lanes and prove what? Remember the mid 60's and "they will only lay down in front of my car once" Kind of how I feel about the whole thing. After all, the policeman was only trying to take control of the person who robbed and committed assault on the store employee minutes before. I know, only post whatever you know won't hurt you in time to come...I did.

So my mentor always said, two things to leave to someone else to rebuild, Auto transmissions and 4 barrel carburetors.

You just couldn't help it could you Don. If he is going to add armor he will first need to upgrade the frame, axles, and tires. Kind of like an oil change right?

Sorry man, that doesn't look so good from here. Hope the damage is only in the one area. Before spending a bunch of money on the roof coating, check all the areas inside cabinets and other places that don't dry easy for any more staining.
