Ken, once again you find out your equipment is too small…….
I might have misread, but it seems to me his equipment was too big... ;-)

(I hate myself for getting into this one...)

Equipment was to small for the bucket. Plus being a skid bucket they are longer than standard loader bucket.

Now if you could just put Hs face on that video.

Worked all day, came home and installed new antenna on my truck. Tried to revive the existing garage door opener that just died. No luck so I guess this weekend I'll go buy a new one.

Sanded and sprayed more paint.
Mixed too much paint so may have made a mess on the bottom of the hood.
Will find out tomorrow…
Flipped. Primer. Extra paint on top of hood.
Like mixed a whole lot of extra paint…

Hope to have most of it painted tomorrow.

I’ll update.
Not really a lot of change.
Tonight the parts should be done though.
I’ll post them up later on the build.

Bob, this post is for you.

So after several months of discussion we finally pulled the trigger on a quality built set of kayaks. Picked them up over in ponderay id from a small mom and pop adventure shop. These are rotomolded units so no seam like a lot of the bulk big store distributors sell.

Tried them out this morning on a sleepy 150 acre lake that’s local to us.

Better half looking for bass, my excuse for her getting stuck…..

Old cottage on the lake, pretty sure that’s the original owner in the chair on the left.

Jazz festival on the river last night in Libby, good music.

Then this afternoon we drive down to the huge huckleberry festival in trout creek. Pretty sure all of Lincoln & Sanders county showed up. Guessing 60 vendors at minimum maybe closer to 100 idk. It’s big for nw Montana though.

Ears of corn picked from the same field. One on the left is where the irrigation hits. The right is dry land.

These were takes from the field across the road. This is a pollination problem. It was too hot when it was pollinating.

In July I posted my trueup was going to be $2000, now its predicted to be over $3000!!! All the use was from jan to march, WTH?? I have turned the AC up and put the rule down NO wash in the afternoon, only AM while making power but not using AC.

I started working on adding 10 panels with a separate inverter that will also supply power if the grid is down. Had these for a few years, time to get going!

Trueup: Difference between what you make and what you use. Very rarely do you make anything and they pay you about 1/2 what they charge per KWH. Normally every 12 months.

So you annual electric bill with solar is currently roughly $250 a month?

Actually, that’s pretty much what the big house in Colorado ran but ours was combined electric / nat gas then the solar which we didn’t own but the equipment was on our roof that electric was sold to us at a 30% discount to full retail. We paid about $250 a month on average.

In comparison here in Montana with small cabin and most of our electric is generated via hydro the bill which I just paid an hour ago was $83.54 with zero solar currently.

That does not include gas (50-100) or the $10 hook up to the grid.

I liked when my bill was 100-200 month total. MY home system was 18k and I recieved 30% tax break when I bought it outright. That 30% you got was the gov kickback they got and now theres a lean on the house.

They have a lein on the house because you took a tax credit for installing your own equipment on the property? Wow!

Just out of curiosity, how many illegals you planning on housing when that requirement comes up?

Thats why I bought mine outright. Has a lifetime warranty and no lean. The lean here is based on the tax, plus you pay stupid interest.

I bet Clint would make a spot for you Charles.

Spent the morning laying more underlayment behind the shop and another section of driveway in front of the cabin. Then spread a light layer of pit run to hold it in place. This afternoon I changed oil of the F250 and both cat fuel filters. I discovered I have oil seeping from what appears to be upper oil pan gasket (frankly unsure but if it is the trans has to come out….) and the bottom of the pan is wet but not enough to spot the driveway. Going to stroke a check for that repair in a few weeks regardless as no time.

Shawn, it’s likely the upper. A buddy of mine just got another…he changes trucks far too regularly. He’s a Ford guy, and part of the deal was they had to do the gasket. It was weeping and that was a deal breaker. Hope it’s not too fat a cheque.
I’m out and about again this week. Plans changing on the fly. Heading out to my parents now Wednesday to pick up wood working machines I’ve been storing there. Their barn was nearly wiped out by a storm this summer so they gotta go. Timing on the new place couldn’t have been better.

Unfortunately, I think you’re right and it’s a fat check having to pull trans, lower pan and then upper including oil cooler to fix it. Apparently a couple early years they used a different grooved pan and actual gasket versus rtv and they’re much better. I’m gunna try to get this parts on hand now.

Safe travels and join the club moving more chit!

I did!

Got quite busy afterward because, obviously, I forgot to thank you for my now, two-star flag! It is proudly hanging in my window. For those who don't know it, Steve sent me a one-star flag when Nate joined up and departed. Now that Chris has joined him in the infantry, and soon enough the 101st Airborne, I rock a two-star flag hanging 24/7 to honor those two men serving from my household.

So like most things work begat work.
We loaded up a pile of stuff at my parents.
Not sure how I unloaded some of it years ago.
Anyhoo while loading an engine hoist became a good idea. And it was a great idea.

So to begin the unload me and 6 assembled the engine hoist. I then removed the plethora of straps from his mess.

By using creative rigging practices no back muscles were strained. I was able to offload successfully alone.

A whole mess of machinery. It was not stored on climate controlled buildings so all of it needs more than a little TLC prior to use. But, the stuff stored in the failing barn is now safe.
The barn took some serious blows earlier this summer. One more good storm may spell the end of it. So I had to get after this.

That is a heck of a load

They’re getting lighter each time. Last trip a month ago was the heaviest load. Pretty sure trailer was maxed or close to it. This one wasn’t close to being at max weight. The Oct trip the trailer will be full I imagine but it’s all fairly light weight stuff, just a lot of it.

Well, I didn’t take any pictures sorry. However, I used the boom on the skid steer to unload the big gun safe from the trailer. While trying to sit it down on a couple car Dollie’s the sharp bottom edge to the safe cleanly cut one new $10 HD strap then less than a second later the other one. The safe came down not center on said dolly’s tipped backwards and cleanly landed in fresh dirt fill in the yard. No one was hurt luckily and neither was the safe. Switched out to forks on the skid loader and managed to get it uprighted and onto dolly’s then rolled thru doorway. It now resides in a state of waiting until I get time to finish interior of that room so it can be permanently secured to the floor.

This evening I took empty tilt deck trailer to Bonners ferry, ID and picked up a scissor lift I had reserved for the next two days. Plan is to get ceiling in the high bay of the shop. Calling for two days of rain so timing couldn’t be better.
