I started out flying OH-58A's and C's for the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany. Spend over 1600 hours in those cockpits from 1980-1983 playing and patrolling the East German border when there was one. Flew front seat in the AH-1S as well. Not qualified as a pilot in one, but got to do the gunner thing. Impressive bird for its time
The OH-58 shown is the much improved "D" which I have not flown, but watched for years down range chewing up people who needed to die.

If technology keeps it current pace you may be piloting in your bunny slippers virtually out of retirement.

Why is it that I think of a Plymouth 426 hemi and 4 speed and then the new electronically controlled paddle shift auto/manual SMG BMW M3. The M3 may be faster but there is something about grabbing your own gears a a being a part of the machine.

Ever shoot a Coke can with a high powered rifle?
Aircraft skin affords about the same degree of protection...
Those kids used to come to my room a lot when I was in Kandahar. Spent the day out shooting people, then land, eat, shower and act just life was normal again...

Yep, pics are nice. Heard an unknown the other day, went out back and saw 3 Apaches cruising over to TAFB. Great looking birds.
