Bidding on a school bus to run the scout troop around in. Plan is to pull the back 6-8 seats and put shelving in there for for everyone's packs. Right now all the packs end up in a pile on the trailer floor and it turns into a huge disorganized mess.

The troop is growing. 2 years ago I had 5 scouts show up and just me as Scoutmaster. Now we have 8-10 members that show up consistently and 2 assistant Scoutmasters. In the next 2 years that number should easily jump up to 15.

Dealer said it was all OK. I still didn't like the drip on a new car.

She got a deal on "dealer" oil changes, think under $40 each for about 6. Less for me and removing the shield under them is a pain. (did daughters Altima)

So on that, the oil change thing

My caddy is so easy. They put the oil filter and oil pan drain up front and close together. Just need a bit of room and you're in and out of there in minutes. I love this new Cadillac!

Since I started working solo again, the first thing I quit doing for customers is oil changes.
Why do something you despise doing?
Quit most heavy work, well, because it's tough on my body.
Quit working on European cars a year ago or so.
Motorhomes before that...
Pretty soon I won't have anything to do!

I quit doing suspension / axle installs into vehicles and rarely build diffs overhead in a vehicle. I agree, do what works for you.

I’m not sure these are exactly what I’d call big…..

However, I’d sell the middle Colombian #603 1/2. It needs a nut/stud combo made for the swivel to work again.

Nice score!

Don, a while back I mentioned that the newer Mopar vehicles require certain scanner setups . Last time I tried working on a 16 ram I had to buy a subscription, register my scanner (snap-on's flagship 6 years ago), and spent a day trying to get it to hook up to the truck.
Just found out Monday that the scanner has to be up to date within 30 days (updated every 30 days) or Chrysler won't give it permission to do what scanners do.

Snap-on no longer supports my scanner, mostly because of these new protocols.

... So a new one is on order, just so I can continue dealing with modern junk, Mopar in particular. If I didn't have so many Rams come in the door I'd give snappy the middle finger, and just struggle through with the other brands.

Rant over, for now

Planting starts in 4 weeks. 10 degrees this morning. I hope this weather straightens out soon. We have a lot of work to do to get ready and running out of time to get it done. The ground is either frozen or mud.

Jon, hope it keeps going. We had 25 or so a couple years back, down to 6-7 when we left. Our issue is the cub scout pack shut down so we had little incoming, then covid and then they are making eagle or aging out.

Mid 50s at the ridge, was a gorgeous weekend.

Bad car week so far. I posted the Tahoe is down right now, haven't had time to diagnose it yet, leaning towards Ign switch.

DMax just lost the power steering pump taking the kids to school. Alt failed on the way home!

Update, the bullet missed. Just the serp belt which I had to remove for the new Alt anyway. It was the original, 250k now so I guess it got fair use (yes I have a spare)

Big day today. Bought the bus.
Also changed the motor mounts on ole reliable. I delivered a load of gravel to a neighbor and heard a loud bang trying to back up through some mud. One side looked like it had been broken for a while.

Pinewood derby yesterday.  We organized a joint derby with 2 packs. It was a success. A bunch of the Boy Scouts helped out. That's Zane at the end of the track. This was Jaspers semi truck. He got second place in his den.

Wow, just found out I got screwed by Kali again.

New DMV law limits non commercial trailer to 10k gross now. So for my 14k trailer I am supposed to have a CDL now. If you are out of state traveling threw, you can still be the 26k GVW, just not Kali drivers.

Looking into getting a 10k sticker now,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Wonder why I want to leave this crap!!

Had a rain day yesterday so had to do a little maintenance. The chain kept coming loose. Further inspection found it was cracked . The tensioner needed some repair. Weld it up and grind it back somewhat round. Should be ready to go for Monday.

But that's just me...
I want to be real clear here.  I am NOT advocating this, but I see the country heading to a civil war in the not too distant future.  Those that use the law as a weapon, stoke hatred and division among racial and economic lines, create a two tier justice system and their limp wristed sheep that bleat while waiting in the government to feed them save them and tell them what to think, versus the good people in flyover states who are nearing the breaking point.

You're more of a diplomat than me

I prefer a strong hook to the jaw.

The enemy is in plain sight, he is throwing illegal punches. It seems it's time to throw some back.

And would this cause us to lose our country? Seems to me it is already lost. Maybe time to kick up some dirt and see how serious "They" are.

Civil disorder is right around the corner folks. I do not believe we are secure well into the future.

Look at what is happening in Tennessee right now. That protest turned into civil disobedience. Normal people have been pushed to far by fringe elements who have skillfully been maneuvered by very intelligent and evil people. California is a strange case to me. I can't figure out why the people of that state haven't rioted and burned that corrupt government down. So they get to sleep in the bed that they refuse to make. Lawlessness just sets the scene for a breakdown of a safe and functioning society. California is actually becoming less of a factor as far as the health of the nation is concerned. Hundreds of major corporations and businesses have fled, so it now produced less and less to contribute to the nation.

Welfare people and illegals flood into the empty buildings and defecate in the streets and that shows the rest of the nation that common sense has left the building, the lawlessness is accepted and criminals can just do whatever they want. Here in Kentucky criminals the likes of which I see on the tv would mostly inhabit unmarked graves.

The country is coming apart. It is too far gone and the bad element is too well entrenched for our nation to miraculously recover. All you have to do is to look back into history to see what has happened to EVERY great nation that has reached this point. We are headed toward a wide-ranging civil war that will cost us greatly. I stated ten years ago and was writing about it then, that while we kill each other, the blue helmets, our UN brothers, mostly Chinese, will arrive to "stabilize" the situation. Our real fight will be to evict them from our lands. When enough blood has been spilled, and when our cities are finally finished burning, and the nations trying to conquer us have been vanquished, then and likely, only then we will have won back our nation.

I am just too much a student of history to see it any other way.

California is just the most visible and the place where the gnashing of teeth will first be heard.

Yes, I think we are past the brink for a civil society recovering now without a major event of some type. Protest, civil disobedience or what. Not advocating anything, but look at how Jan 6 was turned around on the protestors vs whats happening in Wash and other states.

Gov has gotten so overbearing from permits, gun rights, and more. Politicians feel the need to regulate everything either to justify their worth or controlling us (think its both)

When you stand up for yourself, you are the bad guy now. Bad guys are cut loose by the same politicians who say its not fair for them, er what?

I go the bus home and insured without doing an RV conversion. $30 a month for liability only.  Drove it home 300 miles with no problems. I ordered a hitch and brake controller. Going to change out the old radio. It has a mind of its own and the volume don't work. I have a few other things planned. We will see how it all works out. I have a couple old AC units form scrapped out campers. I just have to figure out how to run the wiring and where to put the generator.

Are you thinking of making a bunkhouse out of it or just use it to transport to/from for the scouts?

The last few seats will be taken out. Shelves installed that could double as beds.

I have a hitch rack that I built in the shop. Twice as heavy and anything on the market but I cant use that and pull a trailer at the same time. May have to mount something on the tongue of the trailer.

Is adding a small hitch hauler to the front of the bus an option? like a 2inch receiver winch mount.

Put them in slideouts along the side. Bet you have lots of room there.
