Construction and heavy equipment / Re: The "Big Red" Thread

Flyin6,

I really loved seeing your pictures of the BIG RED. That being said, I feel a little misled. When I saw a post titled The Big Red, I thought this was going to be a post about the Nebraska Cornhuskers. I shouldn't complain though, that was one heck of a manly posting and I am now having tractor envy.

I hope it's coming along nicely for you.

Firearms / Re: Gun Control

I've had an absolute riot reading through this exchange. Having met Redneck and enjoyed great conversations like this one over a few beverages, I knew where he stood on this topic. I was however wondering where all this information was coming from. I'm glad you came clean and put my mind at ease.

Great job all of you standing up for our rights and articulating the facts. I have been meaning to do some more research on England and their rash of knife killings since the guns are scarce. I've read a few short articles that the police are now running campaigns begging people to stop resorting to knife violence. People are now asking if this means that their steak knives are next for banishment.

Friends, this is a crazy mixed up world. If people truly want to kill they are going to kill. If someone truly wants to break into my house, they are going to. Thankfully, they won't have to worry about finding their way out because I'm going to be like Bob and end them being a problem to our world.

I wish I were smart enough to answer all these questions. I know this though, the guns in my safe, the guns locked by my bed and the gun I carry each day have never killed on their own. It really is time for the world to stop blaming the guns and focus on whatever personal defects some of us have. Once we identify the true problem, we can begin to help them and reduce all forms of violence.

Joe and Hilary wouldn't like that of course, but I don't like them anyway.

Keep up the great exchange gentlemen!

Thank you all so very much. I have so many blessings in my life and I certainly count the fine members on this site among them. I really appreciate your thoughts, prayers and kind words.

Redneck, thank you for the PM. You are one of a kind. I found a couple things that I need to let you know about.

Thank you again!

Greetings fellas! I'd like to ask each of you for your thoughts and prayers. I injured my back in November 2012 and went through two fusions over the last couple years. I'm finally pulling myself through the injury and recovery portion. Last week I was finally given a release to return to work, but during my recovery I lost my job! Thankfully, all the prayers for healing and the hard work have paid off!

However, what I've learned since last Wednesday is that it's difficult to know where to start when your career has been one with one company primarily. I haven't job shopped in years and I've become a little discouraged re-writing my resume and creating a fresh cover letters for each job I get interested in. Friends, the job market also appears to be fairly tight.

Will you please offer your prayers that I won't become discouraged, that the Lord will lead me to the career that is appropriate and that it will be something that enables me to still enjoy my family regularly.

For those that don't know, I'm a duty disabled police officer that went into insurance management and then turned to insurance information technology. The next logical progression would be to move into IT project management, but I'm also interested in IT Business Analyst work, Business Relationship Management work and possibly sales. If you know of any openings with companies that you work with that will allow telecommuting and/or travel from Colorado, I would deeply appreciate any help you can provide.

Thank you for your prayers and encouragement!

Welcome Nick! I haven't seen any Canadians on here, but I'm also a newbie too. Glad to have you aboard and hope to learn some things from you along the way.

Lots of great music on here.
Johnny Cash is one of my favorites, but we really enjoy Jason Aldean and other recent country artists. I guess I'm getting older because I listen to talk radio about 1/2 the time though.
That being said, I'd give my pinkie toe to go to that acoustic Toby Keith concert and then meet W.

Offering my prayers for you as well! I'll echo what Redneck said about backs. I've had 1 laminectomy and 3 fusions. Back surgeries are like those really great chips, you can't have just one. They're also like great beer, one leads to another.

Please exhaust any conservative treatments including steroid injections first. It could buy you some time and keep you out of the cycle.

Surgeons usually just want to cut. Seek out a highly regarded physiatrist (pain specialist) and see if they can help you first.

Good luck to you. Prayers to you from Colorado.

Well, the TX Red Neck was right, you are all a group of like minded guys. I am honored to be part of the group and appreciate the warm regards from everyone.

To those still serving, I thank you. What you all go through each day as military or law enforcement makes me feel badly for what you have to deal with. I thank you each for your continued service.

Of course, everyone serves and learns in different ways. I'm amazed at what many of you have on your profile and posts. I'm going to have a lot of fun here. This truly is a special group, of course when we talk about "special" people, we're not ALWAYS meaning Charles.  ;) Sorry redneck, I had to have a little fun.

Kensauto.... crazy as charged sir.
JR.... not sure how you're surviving in Kali even with family. Hopefully you're up north. The crazy is less intense there. Colorado is the same way, less crazy up north.

Thank you again gentlemen.

I'm new as of this morning. I met a great guy this week that guided me to this site. I really look forward to digging in to the content here and learning from each you. Hopefully, I'll be able to share something meaningful from time-to-time that will benefit you as well.

My name is Jeff and I love in Fort Collins, CO. I've watched my beautiful state change from a God fearing place that respected life, God and guns. Now people seem to be lost. They rant about a lion in another country instead of our police being killed by lunatics.

I'm originally from Lincoln, NE where I was a police officer for 8 years before suffering duty related disability which ended my career in LE. I'm currently working on starting a firearms training business and getting back to fill time employment. I have a fantastic wife and two daughters that God has blessed me with.

Thank you for reading my post and allowing me to be part of such a great group of guys.

Jeff
