Having been involved with a few fires, most people would never get an equipment fire out with an extinguisher anyway, probably better to stay back and stay safe.
Hydraulic leakes would be pretty bad for sure

Hydraulic, electrical, fuel...

They all spell disaster, unless 1 - you know what you are doing, 2 - catch it soon enough and 3 - have a big enough extinguisher.

Back up and hope insurance cover it...

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Bob not in the areas I burned. I want them to come back thicker as cover

The few acres immediately around the house are getting thinned a bit at a time especially the sweetgum trees. I hate them

Understand your position. Just that fire is a bit easier  to control on the ground rather than in the crown. Problem is the wind effect is very hard to predict so anything you do is better than nothing. Hopefully it turns out to be a no big deal. No fire to try to get under control. Burning the understory is always a good thing.

The three places I troll for deals are Primary Arms , AR15parts, and Palmetto State Arms.  They seem to have consistently good deals and the occasional steal.

Supposed to be a wild game feed at the local eagles club but it was cancelled so a few or us got together at a friend's house and had a small party. Alligator and Elk meat balls with pasta.

So, i have been quiet on here for a few weeks because the F.I.L. has some very serious negative health issues and i have been putting many many miles on the dmax trying to make things easier for them.

one of those things that i was asked to do is build a replacement deck for the side door of their farm house that is stand alone.  The one that is there now cannot be used because of its rotten state.

(That is the only door that a stretcher can come in and out of, the other door is body drag only)

So the last couple days i have been solidifying a plan (thanks slc) and gathering materials.  The dimensions are 4' x 5' x 31" high.  Everything is ground contact pressure treated, the hardware is either galvanized or this new deck type screw.  It will be set on concrete blocks.  Ill let it weather for 6 months or so and then put a good sealant on it.  The only thing i didnt get, which i kicked myself in the butt for is the rubber sealant strip that goes on top of the frame/stringers and underneath the top decking layer.

Now the trick is getting it put into place....wish me luck....lol

I will post completion picks of both places when applicable.

the lifting into or out of the trailer is not the hard part, as there are skid steers, old internationals with buckets/forks, and even telehandlers for the lifting.  the hard part is the individual...................

Picked up a new(to me) oven/microwave combo the other day and installed it. It is only three years old and the two older ladies that lived in the house barely used it. They removed it last year doing a remodel of their kitchen and it sat in the basement until they need to sell it to me because God is good. Only paid $900 versus $4k for a new one and got it the next day instead of waiting months. Looks good as new and works perfect. Not to mention it was what the wife wanted. Blessed on so many fronts with this transaction.

Nothing but greens to idaho today

This counts as corners.  Doesn’t have to be individual chains.
Load weight= half of chain/binder capacity

Finished and loaded.

I like this little tractor, a whole lot more stable with the loaded ballast box on the back.

Here are the 2 massive lifting chains i was talking about.

Come on now,  most of our convo was text message not here for others to read.

But I have verified with two other heavy equipment transport other then myself, I have double checked all the government site,
Short of pulling in and asking the port to inspect ( not going to give them permission to go over any of my stuff with a fine tooth comb) I’m 100% confident in saying it’s legal.

Even more so for you guys who don’t have Dot numbers, a business associated to anything you guys transport.

Unless you have an accident on the road and are investigated, it will be a non issue.
Even pulling your Deere 350b you are no where near gvw and don’t need to stop at a port anyway.

Kinda like the trucks registered agricultural, zero inspection, zero responsibility to stuff left on the highway.
If running for personal use it’s void

Took the interior panel off the Freightliner. It was broken and the door handle wouldn't work. I thought I could fix it but pieces were missing. So I have to order a new one or find used that's not broke. I did order some sound deadening material to stick to the door before it goes back together. This door is literally just a thin skin attached to a frame with a plastic panel screwed to the inside. Zero insulation.

Probably more of a company/insurance thing I guess.

No fun there Dave.

Last night changed thermostats in the LBZ, and put in a new GM blower motor.
Nice to maintain engine temperature again.
And have a fan deliver proper air flow, the jobber had a smaller fan cage by nearly an inch.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

Well, all the children are handling the horse’s death really well. Contacted a dead animal removal company and found out that the county has a program through the conservation district to reimburse the charges for having large animals picked up. It apparent to keep people from having to just dump them in the woods or the nearest creek bed because of cost to remove. The gentleman was very helpful and came down this afternoon and took Jasper away. Pretty much all done except for the guilty feelings of not getting to him and caring for him sooner, but I know that is just normal regret.

On the more positive side, I found out that the Steiner can easily pull a 1000 lb dead weight behind it without even getting taxed.

Horses are really neat animals, the develop just like people, gain favorites, love certain things
Live for such a long time compared to what most people think of as “pets”.   I don’t think I could do the grief of having a horse pass, cows for that matter either.
