We've got a lot of SHTF/Survival vehicle builds going on here... I wanted to see what the consensus was on what the best fuel siphoning systems are, and/or what you guys are planning on having on board as part of the vehicle kit. I got to thinking about this yesterday... naturally, extracting available fuel in a survival situation will be important, if pumps are unavailable, so wanted to start a thread to discuss.
What are your thoughts?

I carry one.
It's commercially available.
Two sections of clear hose whit a copper shake/ball valve thing that closes on the pull stroke, then unseats when motion stops
Sorta started sounding weird just there...
Moving on... Cost around $10 and stores easily
It appears somewhere in one of my many threads...

Another thought...Get yourself a large Philips screwdriver and a hammer
If you have an old school mechanical injection diesel. Use aforementioned to knock a hole in the oil pan of your nearby Kia (should be thousands) to remove the oil from the oil pan. Drain into a pail, and pour contents directly into your fuel tank!

I have seen people make like a "pump in a box" with a 12v electric fuel pump and some hose... Worth it to have that over a manual pump you think?
I don't have a Cummins Big Don... gonna have to stick with diesel :-\

I guess it's personal preference.
Whit respect to survival stuff, I use the lowest common denominator approach.
You know, no electricity than the electric stuff no workie, but the cumbersome manual stuff gets along just fine!

I also favor having something like this that I had when I had my last boat. There may be times when you have to get fuel from underground tanks and a real pump will be the only way to get it.http://www.amazon.com/Jabsco-33799-0000-Multi-Purpose-Utility-Diameter/dp/B000O8F1SE/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1427644930&sr=8-10&keywords=jabsco+pump
