There's not to many times of the year that one can appreciate the desert but this is one of them. 68 for the high. Turning green from the recent rains, and a boom year for quail.
I was trying to clear the driveway so it wouldn't keep piling up since it was a snowstorm, and I had just gotten home from work. I'm sort of stubborn. I appreciated when I lived and worked in Arizona.

Dave (I forget which # you are) just go with a regular basic gas block and buffer spring/weight. Once you get it all assembled and fire it you'll know if you need/want to start adjusting it to fit your own personal situation. If you have to start changing things, change them one at a time. I'd recommend doing it with the same ammo to test it everytime.
Depending on which pattern it is, parts might be easier or harder to find. I found in helping others, that DPMS pattern was more abundant, but that's just what I experienced.

I looked at that picture and I knew exactly what was going on. No reason why that optic needed to be mounted that way to fit in cages. I was just making the observation I wasn’t a fan if this is the sop for the 29th Id is all.
That post wasn’t me calling you or anyone on this page out, it was a blanket statement based on personal observations . I have watched, read, heard and participated in discussions with people falling all across the political spectrum and have found that a large chunk of them will comment or respond with a knee jerk reaction to one frame of a video or a photo that had been edited or purposefully taken in such a way in order to elicit a conditioned response be it good or bad. Which is why when political or religious posts are made on here or elsewhere I happen to browse I withhold commenting until I feel as if I have something constructive to add to the thread, and if I feel as if I won’t contribute to the thread, I sit back and read, and on occasion learn something or just pass the time.

I've had to do an uncountable amount of SI checks while in the Army, both as a lower enlisted and eventually as a Team Leader, then Squad Leader/Section Sergeant. The problem with photos that have been posted lately is that people tend to immediately jump in and comment without looking and thinking.

If you reinstall the optic in the same T-mark (which SHOULD have a witness mark) on the rail and turn the mount's torque knob to where it clicks 3x then it shouldn't have lost it's zero...theoretically . I have seen them lose the zero very slightly on some sights, but they were older and had been in service for awhile. It’s a cco (red dot sight) the team leader needs some extra pt for letting this happen

It is a M4 or M4s. The dust cover is open probably because they ensured the rifle is clear; at least they better have, before handing it out to the SM and the SM didn't shut it after closing the bolt.

That would be (probably, hopefully)
1. The result of how some units store their weapons in their arms room cages. It's easier to store them that way, which is stupid.
2. The SM reading the serial number off to an NCO off frame since they probably unpacked them from movement.
3. 100% hands on after a movement of any distance with lower enlisted is pretty much mandatory.
4. If you didn't check your Unit's SI you fail at being a leader.

Bobby you should come out and shot a match some time. I am hosting a couple matches this year that I won't be able to shoot in; would be more then happy to lend you my rifle, ammo, gear etc... Also, if you sign up and shoot a WPRSC match they have a very nice loaner rifle, they let you shoot if it's your first match. It's a lot of fun with an awesome group of guys. All these matches are open to the public and you can come spectate if you want.
I should have a new scope for my rifle by the end of the month hopefully. When it comes in I will be moving the current scope on top if my 22LR trainer permanently. Then I will be setup to shoot in the backyard any time I want to. You're welcome to come out and plink with me anytime there too, atleast until the crops get planted and start coming up.
I appreciate the offer, I'll have to send you a PM. With my crazy work schedule I'll have to see how it all turns out. I never really liked competition shooting, but the last couple years I've been thinking about giving it a try. I don't wanna use up your ammo, especially since it's sorta slim pickings out there. The challenge has been laid out

I'm in WI and live within about a 2 hour drive of a lot of the big barrel manufacturers. The organization I shoot with the most named their 2 day national match the "Barrel Maker Classic" and 7 local barrel manufacturers are some of the main sponsors for the match. Bartlien, Krieger, Criterion, Mulleroworks, Rock Creek and Brux. A lot of guys shoot Bartlien barrels. Krieger is also very popular. I generally go with Rock Creek but that is mostly because I have a bit more of a personal relationship with a guy from their then I do a couple of the other manufacturers. All of them are good. It is possible to get a bad barrel from any of them on occasion. A lot of what makes a barrel accurate is how the gunsmith chambers it. A good gunsmith will tell you they can identify a bad barrel when it is chambered.

Well it was yesterday, well yesterday evening and my girlfriend kicked me out of the house so she could have a couple of her friends over to do cookies and have ladies only time for a couple hours. So I went to the local indoor range and rented a G19 and 100rds.. I'm saddened to say my skills have slacked up. However, it still was nice to put some wireless earphones in, throw the ear pro overtop, slip on the gloves, eye pro and just focus on the front sight for 30 minutes.
Then I wandered to Home Depot and picked up some bathroom caulk so I can fix the badly done caulk job the people who flipped the house did on the bathroom shower before my GF got her house.
Ohh I almost forgot.. I drank 3 cups of coffee today.

Bobby, at the moment he is an 11X
He wanted Airborne and Ranger but not the way it works any more
So he goes to OSUT at Benning and gets done in what, 4 months? If his PT scores are good (Currently he can max it out) he will be offered Airborne school. He plans to accept that and seek it
The Ranger recruiters are now visiting all basic/infantry school classes. If his PT scores are high enough, his sergeants recommend and he asks, then he automatically gets to go to what I called RIP. Obviously if he gets through RIP, then its on to Ranger school.
Interestingly enough, a kid on his wrestling team who graduated last year has made it into Ranger school. They want him to become a designated marksman. Literally a kid who we spent every weekend with. I'll bet Nate follows him into Ranger Battalion if he can make it
Still a pre-Ranger, but starting to make the dream real.

And yesterday i had to spend 9 hours telling a range safety officer to never touch me again, to get out of my bubble, and to never tell me how to properly (according to them) hold my weapon as part of the conceald handgun permit course.
The main instructor/owner is a pretty cool guy and knows how to break it down for all different types of folks. We even had an 75-80year old couple getting it done.
A friend is president of a range in the area. They were having a reflexive fire class and I said I'm in. The guy in charge was holding everyone back by their shirts during the walk and shoot but said " I'm not going to bother, you know what you're doing." Sometimes it nice to just have a leave me alone face.

If those are pine trees, gather as much of the needles or leaves if they aren't pines. Either shove it in a trashbag or pile it up and throw a tarp over/around it to hold it in place. Keeping your body off the ground will help with the warmth. If you take an E-blanket, build a small frame and put it on the other side of the fire it will reflect the heat back towards you, however you'll want something behind you to keep the warmth in.

They will burn themselves. It's just the oil that's on them from the process. One little Frito won't produce a bonfire but all it takes is a small little flame and if you're patient you can make help it along.

Zane and I made up some fire starters of the cotton ball and Vaseline variety. They work very well. Zane had trouble with the ferro rod. I coached him some at home then I left him alone so no pressure. I stayed in hearing distance. I came back a few minutes later and he couldn't get it. He was pretty defeated and feeling bad. I just have a couple cheap junk Walmart rods. They are aluminum and just have a little strip to strike on. I need to get something better.
We were suppose to have a cub scout campout Friday night but with all the rain we just had a day camp Saturday. Made a solar oven and had smores. They also kick off the popcorn fund raiser sales today. They took away some of the best sellers. I suppose because of Covid.
I hate it when parents do this but I am going to throw it out there. If you want to help support our pack shoot me a message and I will send you the info to order online.
Jon, Frito chips can help start fires with the grease. Also look at a small signal mirror and use it to reflect the sun's rays.. It's not effective at night but it is another thing to throw in a pack, plus you can use it to signal for help. As for the popcorn sales, I believe this week is payday, so I can probably send you some after I pay bills. You can donate the popcorn to someone or keep it.

Well, I am technically on vacation until Tuesday morning. I went to finish some lingering homework from my 1st semester of college. I was given an extension due to the 'Rona, and my work situation, went to finish the last few assignments and they were gone. The instructor had cleared it and given my semester scores.
Quick back story, I haven't had an additional schooling since I left HS back in 2002. So that being said, I pulled an "A" in my Regulatory Compliance course which is mostly all the OSHA regs broken down... LOTS of reading and typing. The Fundamentals of Occupational Safety course, I pulled a "C". That was lower since I didn't get the last 2 weeks of assignments finished, but my overall GPA is 3.0, not what I wanted but I'll take it for now.

Bobbee, I like mine. I like the bigger boom, but that's from the shorter barrel. I like how it pushes back, more like an AK than an AR. But when I'm shootin' at frogs in the mud, the crater that 150 grain makes compared to my green tip 5.56 sez it all.
Plus, I remember what those third an inch bullets did to the aluminum of those Bell, Sikorsky, McDonnell-Douglas, Boeing, and Aerospatiale helicapeters that got hit. Really a load of energy in that bullet. Wonder what deers think when they get plowed over by 1?

Bobby, it’s currently shut down due to our governors declarations. My BIL and SIL who adventure race were out for Baylee’s graduation and wanted to do it but couldn’t. It was interesting to see how the altitude affected them though who run 50 miles races pretty often in the Midwest. We only live at around 5300’ too.
Altitude knocks you down a peg or two, until you acclimate. However once you get good at running at altitude, you go back to lower altitudes, your run times will decrease and you won't feel winded.

My hands and arms getting pretty dirty on the job, not so much an issue in colder months with sleeves. However, that’s part of reason I don’t wear stuff. I went away from it in steel shop between moving equipment it could get snagged on and coolant from machining centers etc.
We’ve discussed investing in snow shoes last two years and we’re doing it this year no fail. I’m also running an app I really like called AllTrails
I'm still planning on coming out to run the Incline, possibly December I may be out there for a HazMat Instructor refresher, so no Incline then but maybe take a couple days and explore.

That’s the watch my boss uses, he runs marathons, does triathlon and has done one Ironman race so far. He loves the watch for its functionality when he is training, it recognizes when he changes stages from swim to run to bike and tracks them all.

Picked up a Garmin Vivoactive hr (heavily discounted as it’s been discontinued) for a little over $100 today. Wife and I have both now recently purchased heart monitoring watches and this one is gps enabled for our hikes. It syncs to my phone and will track activity such as biking, running etc. Including heart monitoring which was main goal for purchase. I haven’t wore a watch in almost twenty five years. In fact I don’t wear any jewelry or tattoos etc. just not my thing and never has been really.
What prompted this is the wife is on health kick (which I’m glad, it’s easier if we’re both in same page pushing each other). There is talk of running 5 & 10k’s so we’ll see.
Well after being cajoled by some Army buddies who own fitness watches, I broke down and bought one about 3 months ago. I'll try to add some photos at some point, clearly from experience I tend to not take photos too often. Unlike you Shawn, I'm always wearing a watch, it annoys me when I can't wear one. I'm hoping to start some 5Ks and other stuff like that soon, maybe snowshoeing this winter. It is helpful that my girlfriend likes the outdoors.
