I'm gonna show I am the better man here

Although I wanna ring the staff sergeant's neck!

I didn't say that...

You'd have to stand in line. I'm sure other officers, privates and some ex-gf's would agree though.

"I'd say that's mighty big talk for a one eye'd fat man"

There was a line in the movie Courage under Fire, something along the lines of " the best way to beat pilots at poker, is to distract pilots, to get them talking about their helicopters... pilots LOVE talking about their helicopters."

Just because aviation can't keep track of MREs and shiny things. Don't blame us simple grunts who have to secure your birds.

I'm not saying that I have any knowledge of shiny things disappearing off aircraft. I'm just saying I've heard Pilots, well Aviation in general like to lose things and if it's laying around unsecured it's free.

That rear shot kinda looks like a sea bass.
Classic ramp droop!

Its bad to show up to a ramp which has settled to the ground and the grunts have had a shopping foray inside your aircraft.

Fixed it for more realism.

I remember when they first came out people put grips on the front and they ended up breaking them off, or something like that. I honestly don't think I've ever seen one fired in person. I do remember that you have to swap between the tubes, they don't just start feeding, there's a small lever you have to flip between tube 1 and 2.  For the money, I'd just recommend an 870, 500 or if you want semi auto and can't or don't want to drop the Benelli M4 price tag then the Mossberg 930 is a valid option.

Honestly it wasn't as bad as it seems. But then again I'm stubborn. My dive buddy is a former Marine mortarman so we're both stubborn. We both did the wetsuits. We're both on a track to get our Master Diver certifications before Fall hopefully.

Bobby, it could be worse. At least a hippy from Colorado didn't invade your town, and your privacy.

I can get away with such comments because I believe he's still driving home from said invasion, unable to visit this site, for it would require him being able to accomplish 2 tasks at the same time.

I went and looked at the Hellcat with my dad, it fit his hand, but the trigger wasn't that great. Yes it was brand new and firing a bunch would smooth it out but it wasn't a nice one to me. You can get the OSP version or the iron sight version depends on what you want to spend. The Hellcat supposedly has some build issues but it's brand new and they are still working out the bugs. The 365 has been out for a little bit and I haven't really heard to much bad about them. The Kimber.... I looked at and wasn't a fan of, probably because it didn't fit my hands.

https://aliengearholsters.com/blog/sig-p365-vs-springfield-hellcat/

I know it doesn't relate to the above 3 pistols :

I will say the clerk tried selling me the small single stack glock 43 in 9mm and it wasn't bad but again just didn't feel to comfortable in my hands. The 43X wasn't too bad, but if I had to choose a single stack 9, I'd have to go with the Shield. It just felt more at home in my hand I guess you could say. The new texture on the grip is pretty good, so it shouldn't move around while firing.

Valid question, the 5.9 which Ken has is a proven platform for over 20 years and thousands of builds, races etc. or trillions of miles working. The performance aftermarket support is tremendous for that platform.

The 6.4 I personally put in the same category as a 6.0 of which I owned one once and will never again. You can fix it but as mentioned already it’s still a ticking time bomb. The 5.9 I’m not fixing, just building to gain larger hp/tq numbers. There are some 5.9’s with issues, it’s actually one block casting number that has thinner piston walls, the one Ken has is not one of those.

The Cummins engines were built to be utilized in many platforms. The way that Ford sets up their trucks it is fairly easy to drop in a separate power plant. I could have bought a Dodge chassis but from my perspective / experience they are not built as well as the fords. So this in my opinion is best if both worlds and less “new emissions technology” to deal with which should help mpg’s and reliability.

Sounds reasonable. I started thinking about the last time someone started an engine swap for a upgraded, more powerful, reliable one...that didn't work out so well in the end.

But in the end I'm still going to watch the build.

Build Threads / Re: 2010 F350 Extended Cab Cummins 24V Swap

All depends on how you treat them. Example of everyone talks bad about the 6.0, I have friends who owned them and never had a problem who towed horse trailers, work trailers some tuned, some stock and a couple friends who had nothing but problems, the difference.. how they ran them and abused them.

Just my observation as a neutral participant.

So just a question from me.. If you're going to have a motor built up anyway; why not just build up the 6.4? It's already there, there are upgrades and fixes, and you won't have problems later on due to a motor swap?

So here's another update.

I haven't been hitting the gym. Been short handed at work between vacation, holidays. This month doesn't seem to be any better with going to Nebraska for Confined Space rescue train the trainer course, plus I recently enrolled in college so the little time I had to myself got shorter. It's only online but still requires a chunk of my time.

Work - little sleep + college + new girlfriend / my own social expectations (of which I keep few) = little time for throwing weights around.

find a unit that you WANT to be a part of. If it's a good unit, they'll find a slot to put you in.

To add to what Don, said....

Have you explored staying in uniform in the National Guard? It's an option to keep working toward an Army retirement, and Tricare Reserve Select is pretty darn good.

Just a thought.

I left the Guard as a 6 with 10 yrs. Between Division life, deployments, and the associated injuries that come along with jumping from planes and rucking literally everywhere with soul crushing and joint ruining loads kinda beat up the body.

When I was leaving Bragg, the re-up NCO laid out my options for Active duty.

I wanted to go to Korea..no openings in my MOS (as an 11C there is NEVER enough Charlies to fill a section or platoon)
I wanted to go to Germany... no openings in my MOS (see above)
I wanted to go to Italy...see above
I wanted to go to Ft. Irwin (OpFor)... see above
I wanted to go to Ft. Polk (OpFor)... see above
I wanted to go to Alaska when they made the 4th of the 25th Airborne, they literally stood up a new unit...see above.

My options:
 1. Permanent duty station
 2. Ft. Drum
 3. Ft. Hood

I left, took a left and walked to the Reserve component recruiter who tried his hardest to get me to sign up with the Long Range Surveillance unit in Michigan or the SF unit in Chicago at the time. I was just kind of burnt out around then. Joined the Wi Guard, when I reported in the unit was still overseas, they wouldn't let me re-deploy.

Where is that Airborne Staff Sergeant Bobbee when ya need him anyway?

Typical NCO...

I was working. Trying to figure out how to make things work semi-smoothly for me at work over the next couple months. Plus keep an eye on the weather radar for the snow storm that was coming, and conduct training. Basically doing multiple things at once.

Nice score.  Any reason why you are hoisting those logs up to the tray instead of using the splitter vertically?

Why work smarter when you can work harder?

Update:

Saturday I had an hour of Jiu Jitsu

Today I went to the gym and banged out a hellacious rowing session. It was manual interval rowing, 8 legs of 2,000m each with 30 secs of break between them.

The end result :

16,129m rowed (10.022miles)
94:34 time elapsed
Generated on average 84 watts but hit a high of 160ish
Burnt 891 calories
Average about 2:40 per 500m

Yes the distance doesn't add up,however I found myself in a zone letting my brain just wander and rest with my music playing and was rowing through a break without realizing it and I don't take little rows, I put some umph into it.

I never weighed myself when I started these workouts, so I'll check at work tomorrow morning and just use that as a starting weight. My goal is to get back down to my deployment weight of 220 when I was running and lifting.

Here's an update.

Friend of mine in Afg sent me a workout him and his unit did. I decided to do it at the local gym, with some changes. I didn't complete all the pullups, I haven't been doing them. I didn't wear body armor and run with a sledge hammer, so I cranked the elevation up. I didn't have a hammer so I used a medicine ball and a weighted pvc bar.. After I completed the pillage I spotted a heavy bag in the corner and put in some time there. Afterwards I decided to push even further and went to the free weight section... tomorrow at jiu jitsu might suck. Tuesday I might have to do yoga...

Total time spent between the pillage, heavy bag and free weights.. 2hrs45mins

Viking Pillage:

2000m row
800m run
25 pullups
100 sledge hammer tire strikes.
25 pullups
800m run
2000m row

Replaced the hood latch on the Jeep, then proceeded to work on replacing the thermostat/housing group. Got the old on out no problems, went to install the new one and my weight shifted thanks to balancing on some ice and cracked the housing, threw the old one back in drove to the dealership. Dealership actually had the part and coolant in stock, bought it and got a price reduction, then successfully replaced the thermostat, added coolant drove around and made sure it all worked. Just finished balancing the checkbook and made another cup of coffee... vacation is hard.

Well yesterday, I did the annual 20mi ruck. This year I walked alone and set a time standard for myself for the first 12 miles, so I put the earbuds in and started walking. To make the walk so much more "enjoyable" I didn't eat or drink anything until I finished 5hrs 30mins later.

Then hung out and helped clean up afterwards.

Fix the vehicle. Leave it gas, use it for whatever you need. If you want/need another Diesel then get one. This back and forth swap parts and hope it all works in the end isn't going to get you anywhere in reality, as you found out in Square D and more recently in this Suburban.

But that's just my opinion.
