Title: My "build" thread
Post by: CHEVSILVER1500 on May 08, 2015, 09:20:51 PM
Not going to be much of a build thread here at the beginning due to time and idea constraints but we'll give it a go...

Today's task was to install the cabin filter kit I picked up at the local NAPA.

Filter and supplied screw and trap door

First step is to remove the plastic shroud that covers all the under dash pieces on the passenger side you can the the indentation running front to back that will be cut out to allow for the filter install as well as the pre-molded screw mount

Next up was to do the cutting of the plastic. All I used was a utility knife with a new titanium coated blade (read SHARP)

Here you can see the piece that was removed

And the newly created opening.

Here we have the filter installed

Followed by the "trap" door

Last was to reinstall the cover which was by far the hardest part of the ordeal.

That concludes the day.

Next up will be the installation of some silver star bulbs followed by the hardwiring of the radar detector, but due to the upcoming turnaround at work it may be awhile before that comes along.

Well, that's a start!

I was eyeballin' my heater plenum today on square D as well. Was thinking of some way to get it to filter the air of everything, like as in a chem attack, and over-pressurize the cabin a couple psi...hmmm...

Welcome to the build threads!

OH NO!  Not FIAT (Fix It Again, Tony!)

I had a 1970 Fiat Sport Spider Convertible in Hugger Orange with aluminum dished mags and a roll bar with SCCA 3 point harnesses.  What a chick magnet and a fun car.  It was a rolling mechanics nightmare....

GMC actually but same thing for the most part. Liked the grill on the GMC a little better than the Chevy.

Yeah the name is a little deceiving. Name I used years ago on another forum and yahoo email account so it just kinda stuck.

Still have the 1500 though. Drive it to work everyday. Dmax comes out when there's a trip to take or a trailer to pull.
