Ken that is a lot of work. Why not just practice your shooting skills. I bet even a bunch of crackheads could figure out your place isn’t the best place to tag.
They only come around in the middle of the night. I'm not staying up that late....need the beauty sleep!!
Rig up some trip wires on bear bangers.
Or claymores of you have access...

They make these 12 ga things...

And you have a lathe...

I have the version that uses primers but too much action around the shop to leave wires around....unless on top of the fence.

Hey Mike! I like that idea

Back to the pantry project.  I shot the top coat water based urethane enamel trim today.

Dang if I didnt wind up with a bunch of sags.  I thought I was moving the gun fast enough and spraying with a 210 tip but I have a ton of sags.

The 180 grace swivel on the titan gun was money though. I was just hard to see the white going on over the white primer.

Oh well, on to the wall paint and then I’ll fix the runs and sags.  That’s why i started in the pantry.

Now, headed to the hide to get dirty on the Honda Odyssey Touring Van.  New strut assemblies up front with springs, new brembo rotors and EBC brake pads and new shocks and brakes out back.

All the shocks and struts are OEM honda, which is always the best bet except for the brakes for some reason.  I fought warping and pulsing for years until I moved to brembos and EBC.

Getting it ready for the second daughter to learn to drive in. Still need new headlights and a drivers front fender from the limb that hit it in the tornado.

Gonna probably get the oldest a Hyundai Tucson either new or certified.  Seems to be the best mix of value and safety features.....Kenneth???

Oldest Baylee bought her first car, 2019 vw Jetta R-line loaded / certified with 8k on it. Needed better gas mileage, so dad has jku back now and I need to clean garage space at home for it this weekend.

I agreed to buy a set of drum brake 406 unimog portal axles tonight. Super excited as I’ve been trying to buy them from guy for two years. He finally accepted my offer, going to pull boxes off and build 9” or 14 bolt centers for them and build an 8 on 6.5 hub / disc conversion for them. Will probably keep them.

Also a friend who needs a bread truck body and knows where one is for $1k with 4bt is setting up deal for me to buy it for motor and he will keep the bread truck for a project.

So with above two items there is a future build in the making......

Charles,

I have sprayed many of pallets of paint.    We chose these gloves to spray.   Use and toss them.  But you can dab a “run” or “curtain” and the texture of the glove will soak up the excess and leave a roller type texture.  A rag works but keeping a rag on hand, not dragging the rag on something else all not as simple as a well placed fingered glove.

Cheap answer to fixing a wet run.

Charles, one word.

Barf !!!

Oh, and hondas have always been particular with lug nut torque. My old boss and I learned that the hard way. That and turning the rotors, caused many headaches, not to mention warranty jobs. Sucks working for free because of one's own lack of knowledge.

Thanks Ken. What specifically do you not like about the 2019-2021 Tucson ?

And yes I also learned the hard way on the rotors too. The brembo rotors don’t get the heat spots like the OEMs have. With 130k on the odo this should carry us a ways.

First set of shocks and struts so it should improve the ride quite a bit. Will inspect the joints and such while I’m under there and pressure bleed and change brake fluid with my trusty motive pressure bleeder.

Then on to a new set of headlights and a front fender.

I have to say I’m impressed with the stiffness of this chassis especially being 16 years old. Jack under one rear swing arm and both back corners come off the ground.

Yeah, looks like before the upstairs fireplace was put in, the outlet was the jumper between line and downstream power, no problem. But when the fireplace was installed, they needed power for the blower, so the took the line, wire butter it with the new 14g for the fireplace and a 14g jumper to the outlet.  And left the downstream power connected off the outlet.

The insulation on all the neutrals in that wire nut had the insulation burnt off, that wire nut no longer existed as it should, plastic was melted/gone and the internal spring was bare with only two of the wires left in it. Very lucky indeed.

Just realized I didn’t say it above, but that’s a 20 amp circuit.

My wife mentioned to me that the lights in half our main room wouldn’t come on this morning, so I checked the breaker, it was fine. Then started checking all the associated outlets and they were all good until I got upstairs and found two that weren’t working. Opened that one up and saw a burn mark on the inside of the outlet cover.   The upstairs is the boys bedroom, they didn’t notice any smell or anything, but could have happened while they were sleeping.  I know the good Lord was watching over us.

The new brakes and rotors are fantastic and the struts and shocks are a big improvement.  My pressure bleeder had some cracked lines so I’ll flush when my new lines come in.

Cleans up good for a 16 year old training van....

If so, I wonder if it is that store or all of them?

Can some of you out there in hippy land try and log onto the site from HD's in your local?

Yeah it is the web filter system they’re using on their free Wifi. DuramaxForum via Tapatalk worked ok, so there must be something about this site that triggered them.

Thanks for moving that for me. We stepped the tent off. Its like 24x14. I slept next to the wood stove. That was a mistake. I cooked half the night. Then the wind came up so I quit stoking the fire. Then I could get a little sleep.

Looks like an Army GP-Medium. Except our are OD green and have fewer side supports.

If that is one, it has a full length wood beam, like a 3" X 6" or something like that. That's what broke my back once. Putting that thing up with some junior troops, one somehow lost his end and that beam slammed down on me. I almost didn't walk again until leaving surgery a month later.

I went 3rds on a wall tent similar to that one.... largest one Cabela's sold. I wanted one half that size, and without a floor but my buddies out voted me.
I ended up with it. Long story.
Now it sits in storage because it's too big for one guy to set up, mostly because it has a floor made into it.
You have to put the frame together inside. Sucks big-time.

This thing wasn't too bad. I think it was a good thing to have all the scouts in one tent in the cold. Because there were so many younger scouts. One who wouldn't listen to what to wear and how to dress for bed. I had to get on him pretty hard. The one kid that froze was the one kid that wouldn't listen. Also happened to be one of my nephews.

That stove is wood hog. It got very windy over night so I let it burn out somewhere around 3 am. But it really wasn't that bad in there.
Anyway, I got my Freightliner back today. Head gasket, 6 new injectors, rear wheel seals, brakes, a coolant hose repair and tipped the rear axle forward to fix the drive line angle issue.  Bill came up to $3,555.90. We are going to go a quick trip this weekend to try it out. I have no idea where we are going but we are going.

Trying something new today.
I turned into a craft beer snob at some point in the past few years. And fell in love with a Jamaican made ginger beer.

Well with this stupid dem-panic and maybe other causes as they couldn’t get it maybe before, I find myself trying a real “grain to glass” type beer.
I’ve always done kits, but they don’t have a ginger one and I don’t want to just add additives to a lager.

Found a recipe and sent it.

Ground, well puréed ginger. 9 pounds of it.

I’m really winging it a bit as the recipe was for a gallon...
One kilo of dextrose and one of natural brown sugar mixed in hot water to dissolve. Didn’t have 2 kilos of brown or would have went that route.

Topped up maybe a bit too far and a champagne yeast added.

I’ll rack it in about a week, wait another few weeks for it to brew off and then bottle.

Time will tell if this works out or not.

If the math is right this should net a 5.5-6% final product.

Reminds me of a friend who made pumpkin beer one year. 13% and nasty tasting. If you could get the first two down then the flavor drastically improved

Recipe was 2 1/2 pounds for a gallon. I’ll net about 5-6 gallons depending on my top up when I rack off the ginger pulp. I used 9 pounds in 5 times. But yeah a LOT of ginger.

I had 12 pounds but candied 3 of it as 12 seemed ridiculous for a bat hot beer.  :beercheers:

I hope it’s a good...I hope it’s drinkable. Without needing a primer. Lol.
Will know in about a month.

It was a quite healthy lava lamp this morning so that’s a good start.

The stupid s*#$ I do sometimes.
What a cluster.

Forklift has 15' of lift.

In all my wisdom, I designed something that needed 15'8" of lift.
Kinda forgot that the bottom 4' of the posts are Above the ground until you stick them in the 4' holes Below the ground.
...then realized the poles were too narrow to fit said forklift between, hence the use of the tractor to lift it high enough for the forklift to get under, accept it wouldn't lift high enough without the use of jack poles.

Believe it or not, that was the short version. No pun intended
