That's a good one. There is also one for rifle as well.

Haven't seen it lately. So if you have the link, post it up. Unless I happen upon in, but either way, there's NEVER enough helpful info.

Saw this and thought I'd share. Maybe this chart will help people out.

While reading the updates and sipping on my morning coffee,  I had an epiphany.

I, in my own opinion, think that panel you made would look nice, in the OD like the outside,  with the names/settings done in white. But that's my .02

Regardless, looking good

4.5 oz lean ground chicken patty w/ braggs aminos and apple cider vinegar/lemon juice 50/50. asparagus and cherry tomatoes and romaine lettuce around 4oz as well. I'm doing a special diet with my wife, I'm down 17lbs since last sunday, she's already lost 49lbs since Dec.

And what pray tell is this diet? I'll support the chicken part, but I shall have to pass on the green leafy items.

I don't have pics of it but, my parents and I grilled 4 ribeyes and I made some American - or homestyle, whatever one wishes to call them- garlic and herb fries. Had 4 different spices combos to try and and they each received a different one.

1. Garlic and herb
2. Tucson garlic
3. 6 pepper
4. Rosemary and sage (I think)

Ok, I'll make you a deal. You finish up D2, and send her up here, and I'll drive it around and show her off. Then you can take XJ and show the interwebz what you can do with her.. Or, yea just forget it..

« on: March 13, 2015, 11:44:52 PM »
So XJ is still gracing us with her presence. This afternoon, I had the sway bar end links and the sway bar bushings replaced. I had a shop do it; yea I know heresy, but I didn't have a torch, couldn't find the tap in case I snapped a bolt off, and it was all nicely seized up with the assorted winter grime. Plus laying in a puddle of ice cold water wasn't conducive to getting any work done.

The sway-bar bushing were beyond worn out. You could push up with a finger and move the sway-bar inside the mounting brackets and cause a clunking, now imagine driving over roads that are cracked and suffering from frost upheaval.. it gets kind of annoying. I assembled the end links, liberally greased them up with white lithium grease, then dropped it all off at the shop. A couple hours later and XJ has new bushings, end links and skid plate all mounted up. Unfortunately the old bushings were so far gone, I didn't get a chance to take a pic of them, as they basically fell to pieces.

So here's a few random pics just because we all love pics..

Looks good to me, my woodworking skills are subpar. I can design stuff in my head, but when it comes time to make it.. well there's a disconnect and it doesn't turn out how I thought it out. But I like the progress.

When I figured out the G27 in .40 was the same size as the G19, I was sold. Almost .45 power with the G19 size.

The M&P 40 is barely 1/2" in length/grip difference between the G19 as well.

No DE in .338 my friend

Just exaggerating some and funnin'

I know you were. Most people can't handle a DE in 44 mag or the .50, which has a wicked twist when fired.

Yessir. Very comfortable. I wouldn't say it's huge, it's not very thick at all. You can get them "combat cut" too where they trim material around the grip. Or do it yourself, which many do. IMO WAY more comfortable than a kydex holster. I have a Raven Concealment Phantom for my XDM compact and i'll pick the Crossbreed everyday of the week for IWB concealment. I only use the Kydex paddles for OWB now...

I've seen them for sale, but never had anybody ever try one, at least that I know of anyway.

I'd rather carry open, a drop leg holster is my fav, but in church with marty milktoast and family sitting beside me, a desert eagle in .338 might be distracting. Hip holsters are hard to conceal...

Where are you finding a DE in .338? I'd try it out but I'm just saying... Have you heard of appendix carry? Or carrying at your 4?

Yes, I'm aware there was sarcasm in your post..

Marty Milktoast LOL I'm going to reuse that one...

My "church guns" are my G19 or SA XDS 45, both in a Crossbreed Supertuck... IWB of course. I'm a bigger guy which helps, and I don't print hardly at all, only if i have to bend over to grab something off the floor. If you haven't tried a Crossbreed, I'd highly reccommend it. Either for your G19/23, G30... or both  ;D

For that jacket, I wonder why they don't put the mags opposite if the main firearm pocket to balance out the weight?

Those the holsters with that huge chunk of horsehide on them?

Holy rust batman, Green bay...what do you expect i guess.  That's the exact amount I paid for mine.  I kind of want that bumper.

Bobby are you around GB?  My dad lives in Escanaba, MI and I lived up there for about 6 years.  That is the frigid location I was referring to a couple posts up.

Yep there's rust. Pretty much unavoidable in this area.

I'm around the GB area.

I have to admit, I have a real soft spot for these trucks as well, the F350's that is.  Sitting up a few inches with that big brawny D60 sitting there for all to see, they look great.

I like that conceal carry jacket, although I always have to deal with the "Sag" you get on the weapons side

I can't vouch for the boots, I prefer Oakley boots, but the guys over at O-G know what they are doing

Ruck looks good for a longer term B/O bag...Like maybe the bag you stash, then operate out of a lighter day pack

I like that bag.

« on: March 10, 2015, 04:17:50 PM »
It seemed like I couldn't get it to the point of hanging comfortably.  It either put to much pressure on my neck or it was awkward hanging off my shoulder.

Were you just hanging it off your neck or shoulder like a conventional sling? If so that's a big reason why it wasn't working. Best way to sling it is, though it might vary for others:

Hold the sling in one hand, be it dominant or weak, depending on which side you want it to hang on. Take the other hand, "punch" it through the loop, then attach the sling to the rifle. It will hang over your neck and under one shoulder. It shouldn't add undo pressure to your neck or shoulder slung and adjusted correctly.

As I look at them, what's the best overall color choice?

What your area look like? Coyote brown/tan is always a good choice. Dirtier and older it gets the easier it blends with the environment. Green works well in the woods, but what are you going to do in the winter when there isn't much green? You can always darken lighter colors but its harder to lighten darker colors.

I don't know...
I don't like taking the hit from a new vehicle purchase. Only works out if you actually keep it. Planned to run the Toureg out, then let the pre-rangers wear it out some more.
I need to win this thing with VW to come out.
I could still entertain a smaller Lance pulled by C-Max for event travel, but the mileage of the D-Max is no where near the VW.

Couldn't you sell the VW? Not like you've abused it and neglected the required maintenance. It might help offset the pain of a new vehicle purchase.

With the extra switches you've added, plan on adding are you adding something like you did on the TacGator? An alternate fuse block/whatever you wanna call it. Something to keep your stock normal fuse box from looking like a tangled mass of wiring. I can't think at the moment, coffee hasn't kicked in.

I hope no one sees this. How to keep little girls interested in outdoors stuff. Make it colorful. More like mall camo

60% chance of rain and temps in the 40's.  Camping trip postponed.  Don't want their first experience to be a bad one.

So, we'll shoot steel at the weekend place with the little suppressed 22

Good thinking, on postponing. However I'd still go but I haven't gone actual camping in years and I enjoy the peace and quiet.

I ran them on lighter trucks like my old Tundra with much success. on a jeep sized truck you'd like them if you have need of that much traction.
But for you snow bound guys, i'm not sure how well they run in deep snow...not much siping

I'm going to keep my DuraTracs for my winter tires.

Also depending on how you sling it,or your gear placement, you drop it down for transition, and DON'T control it, it WILL catch you in "THE" pills. I've watched it happen, I've laughed at them when it happened, I remind them of it to this day.Be aware of it, as a loaded rifle, with optic and light and whatever else you add gets momentum when not positively controlled...

I like it.  Its built like a tank and has lots of molle attachement points which makes it very configurable.  I carry pistol pouches on the sides and it makes for a lightweight way to carry a lot of ammo. I really, really want to get a soft armor plate carrier and multi hit plates while civis still can.  Any advice?

One thing I like about T.A.G is that they can modify any of their gear for you. I think they can even build one up for you in a non common pattern, like the kryptec pattern.

As for the armor, TAG makes plate carriers, which can mount mag holders and etc.

Just get one with a quick detach and some strong bungy to it is the only solid recommendation I have. I liked the Botach sling, but even blackhawk makes a decent one with the aforementioned necessities.

I agree with this ^^.

Just remember depending on where/how you have it slung  it doesn't get caught on other equipment. What made you decide on a single point?

I have a great pack from tactical assault gear. It has a strap and pouch on the back outside that allows you to carry your weapon upright on your bag while you're humping. I'll get details and pics later.

Not going to lie, LOVE T.A.G's stuff.

Chronometer....The big thing I have against the range here I belong to. They will absolutely not allow time to get it set up right so the hoods or pickups don't get blown apart and that it is on target. So I end up working up the loads at the range, then head to hills to shoot across the chronograph. No big deal unless you have a dozen different rifles or bullet weights to work up.

That's harsh

So did DR go the way of Big Red, and TacGator? Pushed into the cold, lonely corner, to be forsaken until one day, the pile of D2 boxes; slowly drawn down from the mountainous range they have assembled into; allows the warm rays of sunshine to creep across the garage floor to slowly re-awaken DR and bring her to all her off-road glory?

Or you still working on plans for her?

Looks like a good set-up, but question the need of the scabbard- wouldn't you have weapon at the ready while on the move in a SHTF scenario?

Theoretically yes, however, what if you have 2 rifles? Or you are carrying something heavy that requires both hands? Or if you're heading to the range and are only taking 1 rifle? Just load her up in the scabbard, then put the ammo, targets, chronometer and other accoutrements in the back and POW, all together and ready for transport.
