LBZ loosing prime
« on: June 07, 2015, 11:56:39 AM »
Having an issue with my LBZ loosing prime. Doesn't do it all the time but runs fine otherwise after I pump it a few times. 113k miles

I run the Cat 049 filter up top, alum bleed screw, rebuilt filter head and no leaks I can see. 52 titan tank

Running a Kennedy lift pump that free flows but won't dry prime.

Thinking I should do all the upper lines and open up that restrictive port for a little more flow (DSP5 tune)

Is there a kit or what size lines would I need for this? Any other ideas

It's 1/2" JR (technically I believe it's 12mm). Here's some good stuff ...I usually get dealer stuff for customers:

JR, before you get into all of that, try taking all of that cat filter stuff off and running the stock filter.

I thought about that but its a pain to get off as I sealed it really well during the head rebuild.

I will try the lines first. Had them loose a couple times for cleaning and rebuilding and they are 9 years old.

I'm running into this as well, but I'm getting a CEL and throwing the following codes: P0341 p0340 most recently and p0355 the first time it happened. Are you getting any codes when you're losing prime JR?

Nope, no codes just the engine light when it stops and then it goes out.

All my lines are original vs the hoses for the titan tank and the lift pump later using SS fittings. This was a few years back and this problem is a couple months old. So from the tank up to the filter, to the CP3, and return to cooler are original.

Mine was sucking air through the rotted out bleeder screw. broke the head off it last night and saw the plastic was granulated at the break. I'm planning on rebuilding the head and will be doing the top lines at the same time. The place I bought it from replaced the lines coming and going to the tank before I picked it up from them because OH salt had done a number on them, but my soft lines are all pretty checked and rough. Could you have a hairline crack in your head I hear so much about on Dmax? it would be nice if the soapy water trick worked in reverse...

I've read that as well, but haven't seen it for myself.
