I like the flat bottom grapple. Really works well for dragging roads and leveling.

TRN, is that weight or caliber?

88, we had mid 90s, but finally showing signs of fall. Love it.

Yep, they have a few songs about kids becoming like dad, karma?

Sounds like a solid plan for a start. (oh, I linked this to part 7)

I have decided another dump trailer is in the near future. Talking to the nieghbor, hauling costs as much if not more to where we are. We have a quarry just down the road so a load here and there is just the ticket.

Wind never seems to be a friend. I like a little breeze.

Think I got the last major part for this, not that I'm in a hurry right now.

Got a Ron Bonny front engine mount/crossover. Solid weld in unit that allows the pan to be dropped without pulling the engine if need be. Popped up on FB in Reno, got for about 1/2 retail.

Its winterizing for now. Cant see digging holes for snow and water to fill.

Will get the septic in and address the run off issues. Actually looking at another container.

Lots more room now, needed to address the tarps on the building hardware. I may move the sheetmetal onto the container roof.

No pic of the retarp, got dark but a single 18x24 tarp covered it all fine when I move the roll up door rails up front.

Haven't been up in a month, hate getting sick I'm to young!

Rearranged the building moving it all up to the front edge away from the foundation work. Everything started right up, love good equipment.

Worked on the water runoff, cutting a swale along the west edge. North wall needs addressing to as you can see the runoff down the face. I have a ditch cut up there, but think this is just above it. Looks like some shovel work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Trip up this weekend went well. Loaded up the rebuilt slider and it never even burped.

Fork extensions, tarps, rebar bender and about 60 stakes in there too. Need a few more stakes though, to many shorty's.

Loaded it up this weekend and headed to the ridge. Was sitting at 19.7mpg when I got home, 65-70 average.

Slide performed perfect, just a tad snug on the tailgate is all, but a few screws should remedy that.

Thinking about getting the edge trim powder coated? Tuff but on there really good!

Just need to glue the carpet down now, but that will wait until after this weekend trip.

Rubber backed outdoor carpet, two grab handles (3/8 rebar) and nice piece of trim on the rear cap. Paint wasnt even dry and I scrapped it all up. Fits great so just a few crews will hold it solid.

Finally heading back up in the AM, been 4 weeks!

Got a good load of stuff from stakes to fork extensions.

Wondering is its still all there? Showing 50f high and 32f low, not bad.

I did get started on this, but ran out of steam and time.

10mm is a great round but to powerful for the FBI (they had their own loads, really) Never a fan of wheel guns.

That dwarfed into the 40cal, now the 9mm is all the rage. Still a 9mm though, I would not think of it for something big, like bear or Kens GF.

I still like the 40. Way heavier than the 9mm, but still not a bear stopper without the right ammo.

Just food for thought, I think the best case scenario is conditions will stay as they are. Not great, but could get far worse I agree.

Build your stuff, you sold the other sawmill? I see them on FB all the time now. No rush and I feel the "slowdown" too but most days are pretty good.

I didn't like my scraper, get a blade for the front of the skid, I'm looking that way now.

Still thinking on how to attach the carpet on the edges. End will get a metal plate with grip tape to protect the wood.

Sounds like sound thoughts.

I think your house would sell easily, maybe not at a boomer price, but a fair profit for sure.

Curious, have you thought about trailers, like 10 or 12 wide? Setup over the weekend, ready to go, move if you need to even onto the 2 acre plots.

Frame was just over 48 wide, lets ply sheets lay in there just right. However the new deck was about 1/16+ wide and would not go in without major effort. Broke out the planer and made adjustments. Also beveled the edges to clear the angle iron corners. Went on fine then and I got all new SS hardware to fasten down.

Also had to trim the slot for the pin as the assm ended up about 1/4 longer with the new rim..

Wow, this is dragging out, but finally got it done today.

Replaced the broken cable with a bike chain. Welded to pin, uses a master on the lever.

All the metal around the edge is new, made it a bit hefty! Now the wood is supported by the angle iron. Got it all painted up.

I vote for the 10mm. With animals you may not get the time to raise a rifle in close quarters. Plus you have more shots.

Not personal experience, I read all the time how the 10mm stopped big animals.

A true up bill is the electricty you use above the power you make with the solar panel system.

I have had the system for about 8 years now. True up has been around $1200 for the last few years. You still pay for gas and a $10 "grid" fee every month. I have a 7000 watt system and just now adding a 2500 watt system.

Kali has raised there electric rates a lot the last year or so. Rates are the highest from 1600-2100. When you want to run the AC and my wife wants to do the wash.

This has crossed my mind several times lately. Hate to see it happen but I also don't see the use required to keep going.

Hate to loose the forum and stories, I am not a text guy unless I must, FB is for selling-buying things.

Youngest son turns 16 tomorrow, so we went to Angel Island to watch the air show. Wife wanted to go to SF and I told her no way am I going there. (she's a terrible back seat driver too) City is so beautiful from a far.

For those not knowing, Angel Island was a military base with missles at one time and an imigraton stop in real times,,,,,,,

F35 demo, Fat Albert and an AC-130, with the Blue Angels coming up last. Had to leave a little to make the ferry back to Tiburon.

I liked the show better when FA did a JATO take off, but was still good. The 35 did a great flyby and even some hovering right INF SF. Angels snuck in right over our heads and I just them passing.

Looks similar to what I have. Works great when you get the hang of it. A tilt back arm would have been nice.

For seating I have been looking at the small tanks, not pricey at all. That or I use a strap. My setup is mounted on a pallet. I use a pallet jack to tuck away.

Got all but 1 panel up, pretty straight. Last panel will cover the junction box. Thought I had a bad panel, but it was the installer who forgot to plug in one panel

System is really cool, all 13mm and grounds the panel to the rail. Ground tab on each section. I have #10 stranded for the power and #8 solid for the ground.

With 9 panels up I get 480v, about 50v with no load. Under load they are rated for about 45v. Inverter (4000watt) will take 600v so I will be fine.

Thought I had a bad panel, but only cosmetic. Shows full power and no breaks in the surface.

Now to run the conduit through the attic and up through the roof. Trick is to turn the conduit up 35ft from the vent area.

Did score about 60 more stakes, so think I am good now. I had some, bought about 100 and got a bender to boot.

With how I am doing the foundation (3 parts) I should be good.

Dang, no updates here but I was up a couple weeks back. Thats the weekend I felt like crud and ended up in the hospital for 4 days! They still don't know what I had????

Got a load to take up, but stuff around here has kept me busy and I have to save for cement now.

Figure I need 1300' ft of #5, about 3-400 of #4 and a lot of stakes. I have found about 40 so far and a bender I got for a C note. Had a line a about a 150 but they were sold before I got there, bummed.

I need to get the truck bedslider down as I have a good load to take up. Kinda eyeing another 20 ft container too, but looking for a real deal and I can haul myself.

Been looking for files to try out but I also need a 220v plug outside to run my compressor and plasma at the same time.

Seems like cleaning the garage has become a fulltime job. I clean, it gets messy and not me. Its the shaving and grinding stuff that gets me ticked the most. Son doesn't understand all the crud on everything is a pain. He likes to use the vise on the table, I use the one near the garage door. Plus he LOVES the metal chop saw!

Got a spot on the metal table cleaned off to mount it up though. Will pivot out of the way when not in use and I will cover it. I need to figure a cutting table for it. I think something that plugs in may work better. The grates are to small and to heavy.
