Took it down to Gilroy today for some rims, buy was a no show. All planed on FB and he ghosted me until I was an hour away, now he's all sorry but I'm not going back down.

Black GM 17in alloy rims for the tahoe. He might be able to get them to me next week.

Dmax ran great, 21mph per the DIC, lots of traffic and a $100 in fuel ($5.99)

Working on the Bedslide on off. Still feeling a off balance now and then. Clears quick, but weird.

Got the lower mount back into the bed after the bed got cleaned out pretty well. Scored a bunch of new sealed bearings on amazon. 2 were pretty bad.

Cleaned up all the rolling surfaces and filled the spots where the bearings had worn divots in the steel.

Now onto the top. Just filled its divots and smoothed the rails out.

Maybe bed liner over the por15 as a cushion? Por is a coating not really made for abuse.

Lots of good little upgrades. I am still not 100% either, that infection drained me!

Funny, I have been looking for coil air bag for the tahoe. Just for a little extra when needed.

I use one 100ah agm for a couple years on 200watt panel setup. I think it pushed it but never shut down. My cooler is smaller. Lithium works better and 2 are lighter than the one, but space?

Hope you feel better. I am working on myself some also after my latest wake up. I had lost 20+, more coming.

When I had my trans done there was so much room up there. I think trans or cab is easier than the motor.

Yep guys I am back home. Some of you knew I was not feeling well and ended up in the ER early sunday when I couldn't stand on my own with a 103f temp. They still don't know what is/was wrong. I had 2 Cat scans, MRI, Xray and even a Ultra sound. So much blood drawn its stupid and they still don't know. Food was good but all diabetic stuff (cept the couple sodas the wife brought in)

Before it got hot I got the rails on, squared up and level. Funny how far off a roof can be when you lay a string on things.

Just about then the sun hit, wow I don't how these guys do that all day long.

Everything is 13mm-1/2in. then layed another sealing bead just ahead of the clamp. Bolts are SS, clamp is flanged with a nice rubber boot between the it and the clamp.

Oh, and its going slow I know. I've been fighting a cold for a few days now. I run out of steam fast but getting something done everyday at least.

Lipo, not Lifepo4? Lipos are the ones that can burn but not common. Lifepo have a much better life but 100amp might be OK.

50 qt is huge!, think Im around 25 but keep more drinks than food in it (normally get food for the trip. About 1/3rd of mine is motor, no separate freezer. I actually got a little icemaker if I want ice, 110v. The fridge will freeze but then you can turn back up (bluetooth)

My 12v fridge works great. It has an ice tray too but I rarely use it, just a hassle but it works fine. You hear it running when it kicks on and has an Eco and max mode. I leave it on eco and it keeps a bunch of drinks about 35 with no problem. It was running on a 100amp agm, charging that off 200 watts solar. Never went down. Now its on 800amp lithium, way over kill but hey.

I have had 2 (returned) and looking at a 3rd power station. Jackery is not cheap and uses regular lithium. I am looking at an Acemo 1350 unit, about $600. I'm not looking at name brand but good reviews and warranty. Unless you plan on packing it around, get a 1500 sized (about 30lb) and be sure it has lifePO cells. I would look at one or two, 100 watt flexible panels and charge when parked. Charge when you drive too but this way you don't need to start the jeep.

Everyone seems to to love those little diesel heaters, I just have a little buddy propane unit. I have a dewalt 20v fan, but got a little 12v cieling fan for camping

Thats why I bought mine outright. Has a lifetime warranty and no lean. The lean here is based on the tax, plus you pay stupid interest.

I bet Clint would make a spot for you Charles.

That does not include gas (50-100) or the $10 hook up to the grid.

I liked when my bill was 100-200 month total. MY home system was 18k and I recieved 30% tax break when I bought it outright. That 30% you got was the gov kickback they got and now theres a lean on the house.

Forgive my ignorance JR, what is a true up? I’ve lived in 3 states and that’s a new one to me.

Trueup: Difference between what you make and what you use. Very rarely do you make anything and they pay you about 1/2 what they charge per KWH. Normally every 12 months.

Here's the install thread: http://real-man-truckworks-and-survival.com/index.php?topic=5336.new#new

I can run the panels in series for best efficiency or even add to it later. These panels will point west giving me power from midday to sunset all the time including autumn, winter and spring when the sun is low.

Got the footings in this AM. Its been almost 100 here with high humidity, making it nasty outside. Trying to run the DC wires through the attic.

Alternative Energy / Adding more Solar
« on: August 14, 2023, 06:42:45 PM »
So with a looming $3k trueup bill I have hopped into finishing my add on solar.

My current system makes about 3k max sometimes a little over 25k a day. Problem with this system Is it was kept on the smaller size when installed (location and home type) and is not cutting it now. It faces south, but around 6pm it puts out close to nothing and there is a large tree in the front yard that limits it output during winter, spring and autumn. Tree does need trimming big time.

To remedy this some I am adding 10 more 240watt mono panels with an SMA Sunnyboy 4000watt inverter. I have had all this for a few years. Newer stuff would be better i'm sure, but I paid about 1/2 retail for the new panels and got the inverter through a friend who does solar. I also got all the mounting hardware from him at cost.

SMA has been mounted for a couple years, conduit run just wating. Still need to run wire from panels to inverter. This inverter includes a 1500watt 110ac plug if the grid goes down.

In July I posted my trueup was going to be $2000, now its predicted to be over $3000!!! All the use was from jan to march, WTH?? I have turned the AC up and put the rule down NO wash in the afternoon, only AM while making power but not using AC.

I started working on adding 10 panels with a separate inverter that will also supply power if the grid is down. Had these for a few years, time to get going!

Yor actually lucky on the fire suppression issues. Here in Kali new construction need sprinklers built in. Some rural properties have to add 10k of water tanks for fighting fires out of pocket.

Don't think I posted here but I scored both a TCM and ECM while looking for a Tahoe door panel.

TCM should be PnP, ECM will need flashing to my vin and I will keep as a backup. I have been having to reflash the ECM to register every 2 years in Kali. (EFI has not allowed me?)

Both are stored in an AMMO can, in a foil pouch insulated from the can. You never know,,,,,,

I bring a small stool all the time if items are up top. Standing on a tire or similar never seems to work.

Angles are no good, I like air mattresses, light and you can get anything.

Unless you prechill, nice coolers dont' last much more than 2 days. I found blocks or 12v coolers work great. Had the 12v cooler in the container for a year plus now.

Regular GPS has taken me to foot bridges while driving, not fun.

I am very confident my daughter and youngest boy have their heads and feet on solid ground.

Oldest boy is still a work in progress. Has it to easy for now. 18 and out of school. Doesn't want to work, just play (3d model) on the PC. He may have a future in that but it not something that pays for a long time. Looking at an electrical apprentice school for him in the fall, he likes that and did some in HS.

Got 6500 for the Elky, I kept the LS swap stuff. Another 2k for that easy. Had the whole thing listed for 10k. Feels funny having it for over 25 years, super reliable.

As to the home situation, I do as I please when I please. Buy what I want, but I tell her when I leave for a couple days like to the ridge.

It is tolerable, but thats about it. No real fireworks unless you mention Trump or facts about things. Kids fully understand the situation as it is.
