What link is that? My link goes right to the DJI website.

Looks like someone is redirecting your phone.

Got a whole bunch done the weekend, but did not get this corner done. Permit is up in 2 weeks (18months) so may have to renew. Talked to the tractor guy about finishing this part up for me. Will get an estimate this week from him. I am getting it, but working my equip to the limit without hurting them and is slow. Can't really see what I got done but sure got a lot of "fill" for the driveway.

Exchanged the 12' gate for a 14' at TSC. Put the auger on Dug and it worked awesome, used the 12" auger. Need to adjust some fittings is all.

Used about 12 bags of fencepost cement for an 8x6 (4' down) post and its support (1/2" eye hook in 2+" hole) Was dark when done, and I was done to!

Also finished up the berm on the road in. Added 4' of drain pipe to the north (inlet) side. Connecting the pipe is easy, just use a lube (tire mount) and push in. Even my overweight self doesn't have the gusto so the hoe works good. I also learned to stake the end until you are done. Then pored many a load of fresh rock over it and firming up the turn. Sure this is overkill as I have never seen water in this gully, but the signs are obvious and it will happen again. Wish dumping the rock would be enough, seems you always have to man handle some.

This culvert is just under 20', leaving me 11'+ of pipe for future use.

Well pump is next. I have a water tote and it was actually a joy to even take a spit bath with it when all the dust settled.

Had to renew the grading permit, just hit 18 months. I am picking at it but getting there. I want it dried in this year at least. Might be another year before I build inside though waiting for wood to reset. I just saw OSB for $60 a sheet!

Just hired the neighbor to finish the rear corner for me. 1-2 days, 1600 a day.

Just got a txt from the neighbor telling me a dust devil went through and he saw stuff flying all over at my place. Yep, a few things were out but I think is was the cement bags under some ply. Will tell, might be a cleanup weekend.

No real damage. Just a few things blown around, hose and plywood. Cleaned up and hired a guy to finish the grading.

Played with new drone, awesome!

Trying to get the camera turned off. I have about 50 pics, darn that is a lot of dirt! He is just going to pile it, I will dispense from there to safe $$.

Orange is the corner post, green is pad level, yellow is the contour, 2:1.

Figure when this is sorted out I will gain about 10' pad up front "South" (blue).

Big grub pile!
Its amazing how fast an excavator can pile up dirt
Me: 20 min of digging = 2 hours in the loader moving said dirt!

I loaded dirt today with a 544 loader and got about 7 heaped scoops in my dump truck with that, I was about 25tons.  On site moving of course,

Mid day switched to a 7&@ and filled my truck with 4 scoops, cut my load time in half and doubled my trip count 40 loads today

Equipment size matters

That's actually quite a large change

No small amount of work on that grub pile. I think you need an articulated wheel loader...Something with a 2.5-3 yard bucket. Say rent for one week and be done????

Youngest came with this weekend. We got going a tad late and hit traffic for memorial day. After hitting Scheels, Black Bear restaurant and fuel, we got there at 2300 and crashed.

He woke my at 0600 (I don't do real early) and had oatmeal, then saw the house sized pile of dirt! You could drive around it but it made the 100x130 pad feel very small.

I paid good money to have that dirt piled there, now I get to move it again. So he and I got to work. He worked on big rocks for the whole morning, these will be placed around the entrance slowing the peasants from driving around the gate.

Nest morning we both hit the dirt pile. Figure to add about 10' to the pad length with all this. He was getting brave on Dug and got stuck enough to need to get pull out once, then got stuck in softer stuff below the pad where he should not go, but I had showed him how to get out and he did.

He got really brave later and started doing wheelies as we moved more dirt and learned how to pick larger loads.

Then it happened, he blew a tire off the rim. Not off but it unseated(RR). We tried to get it to hold air but could get enough past the stem, need to bring a valve tool up.

We actually got about 1/3 of the dirt moved off the front of the pad. Still lots to do but a good start. Should be out to about where the post is. Look, you see the cont now!

Got this 75gal fuel tank of FB and hung on the end of the container. Need to open a nipple to 3/4, add a filter and a nozzle.

We thought about, but didn't have fluid and were ready to leave so we jacked it up to keep it as was and left. I think a ratchet strap will be enough with the core out.

JR, the previous pictures did not do the elevation changes justice.  There is a lot more slope to that land that I thought.

Good stuff.  Nice bit of work you’ve gotten done.

Well, as requested here are some drone shots. It really shows how much dirt is getting moved, and what I have left to do.

Update, the big mound (south-downslope) is gone. Son and I knocked it out just as the tire issue occured.

Isn't it amazing how much material is produced from just moderate digging by a track-hoe? To keep one running constantly with a good operator (Not me) you need a steady flow of rock trucks. That or else you just get this huge pile of dirt that needs to get moved again.

I'm about to get into serious earth moving down farmside myself. This year starting after I ship preranger #1 off to boot camp is a non stop earth movin' party. Before the fall season sets in, that pond is done, the roads are all cut in, the big walls all stacked in, and my first cow field is all cut back to where I want it to be.

Good part is actually owning the land and being able to build your vision...merica!

JR, they are from the government and are there TO HELP.
Met a guy while in Montana on vacation that was looking for a place to build his new house. We were back there again about 6 months later and he had just moved into his new place. I ask how he was able to do all that so fast, he said this is Montana and most permits are not required here like other states.

Bob, I know I should have checked a little more before I got what I have. Price and location vs driving time prompted this location. I "assumed" being rural I would have less issues to deal with, wrong. I have found the inspectors fairly easy to deal with though and they don't "see" many things when here unless there is a complaint.

Driving time and location are great, its just the "checkpoints" to get there.

Yes but your new place will really be nice once you are able to finish up what is on your plate now.
The concrete guy was here today setting up the footing forms for the wall that
That should help control water and keep the cut slope clean. For now anyway no permit needed for four ft max wall.

Well, the tire sealed up with no issues.

Looking at the cones you will see just how much dirt I moved.

Pad is now 150' and not quit done. Thinking of putting a layer of stablizing wire on the face.
