I have been lacking on pics and work myself. Playing taxi to 3 kids at 3 schools takes a toll on projects.

Today I put up 14 pints of peaches.
Fruit truck came to town, the peaches were deadly, so I bought a case.

Now I'm setting at the cabin, worried about the boat.
The lake is down about 5 feet, my dock is useless.
My boat is at the neighbours, 400ish yards out of sight.
It was in about 6" of water tops, muddy bottom, no rocks, so it's not bad.

But, we have the worst wind for us, a southwest wind, 20+ gusting to 30+ mph.
Needless to say, the whitecaps and three foot rollers are playing on my mind.

I have the quad winched on a stern line to keep it somewhat straight.
Come morning I'll see how it fared. Nothing I can do now, dark as can be, and way too rough to go home.

Pics in he morning...
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

So the boat survived the night.
The lake is the primary reservoir for three large hydro plants.
The water dropped another six inches overnight...
We have a significant outage starting next week so they've been dropping the reservoir hard the past two weeks.

So needless to say, it was stuck in the mud.
Bring on the quad and winch. That didn't move it.
Had to lever it up onto logs and then was just able to drag it back.
At this point I'd pulled about three feet back and had switched sides on the stern.

Awesome view Dave!

Sorry you are having to fight with the boat to get into deeper water. The good part is it made it through the wind and waves. Bad deal when they are sitting on the bottom and can't move up and down with the water.

Trying a different tactic today. I feel better about this one. And I had my waders at the cabin. The water is 52*, so it hurt last night when I was in it getting off of a rock pile.

Here's where I left the casita yesterday. Got family coming over for bible study today.
Supplier did not have my i joists bracket to make the header needed at the stairwell so I had to make a temporary wall to support.

I really really like the i joists. 2 1/4 inch wide flange makes screwing plywood much easier and the joints than a 1.5 inch wide dimensional lumber. And they are super flat and consistent. That floor is very level and solid. As soon as I get the rest of the floor down and header built I'll start framing the roof.

Got the boss home from the hospital. His step sister is stying with him over the weekend. Home health care is starting Monday. I hired a guy to help us get ready for harvest. My cousin. He is painfully slow but consistent and a good mechanic. Took advantage of a break from running around the past week and went on a trip to the lakes. Only caught one fish but it was somewhat relaxing. Couldn't help worry about Randy and his first couple nights at home. Should have stayed home and worked this weekend but we were all drained mentally and physically from dealing with Randys stroke and getting his house ready along with the day to day operations.

Nice work TRN, wish I was that far!

I know what you are dealing with Jon. Mom had a heart attack and stroke in march. Always on my mind and still running her around working on getting her on her own some again.

Put the first ledger up today!! Dang that felt good. Shooting for the floor on this week.

We were up feeding the baby when the first alerts started coming out. Sad situation indeed. Unfortunately we’ll now have to listen to wild speculation, third and fourth hand accounts, and opinions from so called “experts” for days before we hear any facts.

I rode on the bus to campus today and most of the youngers are quiet and somber, still shocked I guess. Me and the bus drive had a convo about it. But no I am not shocked about these things anymore. Mad, disappointed, bothered about the loss of life of good people and parents or children

Tried out the new dump trailer and backhoe this weekend at my buddies place in the hills.

As a sidenote, I feel the same way as Don when it comes to equipment. He posted that he would rather invest in the purchase of something instead of having rental payments. Besides the annual removal of sand from a large wash in my backyard, I'll also be trimming trees from the yard. I usually trade that out, but it equates to about 1200/year. (I was burning the trimmings up til recently, but the trees have outgrown the burn pit). 5-6 years of tree trimming alone will pay for the trailer by my math.

I had to weld in an additional bar for the loader support...the first time I drove around, it buckled the diamond plate sides. Also threw on some side boards (concrete forms), like Bob mentioned.

...and the finished product. 8 trips to the brush dump with 6 piles of brush packed into each load.

That loader support is a nice addition to the trailer. Backhoe tractor looks good sitting in there. Business cards for side work in order?

That trailer mod turned out great!

So last night, Pre-Ranger starts in a local matchup. We are favored to win, and we did, 22-0 but we got a little surprise. My guy, playing defense on the first plays of the game, gets three good tackles. On the forth, he gets the runner and as he's dragging him down his arm gets sandwiched in between the helmets of two other players going in opposite directions. Little guy goes down, then comes off the field.

I see the coaches looking at his arm. They call over the medic. She tapes his wrist and arm for a few inches and packs him in ice.

He goes to the bench and sits out the rest of the game.

Going home he is complaining of a lot of pain and the swelling is really coming in. I send him to bed with a mortin chaser and schedule a Dr's appointment for this morning. The Dr. looks him over and orders X-Rays.

His bone holding all that together is fractured!

We have a 0800 appointment for ortho to decide what's next.

Now hard part other than he might miss the rest of a stunning season where we are the clear champions, but Wrestling practice starts in a week...And he really wanted to wrestle...

Bummer, I had two kids with ortho surgeon appointments this summer two days apart. Rough week to say the least & one has been in rehab since last Jan however the up side to all that for her is when the high school trainer came in to measure strength & agility here few weeks back she topped out due to the months of PT so not all bad if your kid comes back stronger which he should & he left it all in the field it sounds like! :likebutton:

Sorry to hear that Don, at least it isn't compound. Looks like a tuff year for sports.

Mom had apt. yesterday, today (both in other cities) another for blood tomorrow. Ticker is doing great but she's still anemic and has COPD. Pulmonary dr. is next.

Got some work done on the add on, still shooting for a floor this weekend.

Wrestling is a great sport.  It will teach him a lot of great life lessons.  I am always surprised at how many top level people in any profession/ occupation speak highly of and attribute their success to the lessons they learned in a high school or collegiate wrestling room.

The summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school I tore my acl playing baseball.  After that I decided I was going to be a one sport athlete and just concentrate on wrestling.  The first year I had to wear a knee brace on one leg.  Decided to ditch it the last 2 years against the drs recommendation.  It slowed me down to much.

Don, that really stinks....I feel for the little guy.

Thanks Nate. It hasn't broken off yet, and seems to work ok for what it is. I dug my bud an outhouse pit while we were there, but hit wet clay right away, and then solid granite 2 feet down. It took a while to accomplish that task. lol

I knew something was wonky when he got to the part about the firing pin. Currently 15 minutes into injector cleaning on the Duramax. I’d love for the balance rates to return to spec before I sell it but I don’t have high hopes.
