Title: Power of prayer, a praise report
Post by: Flyin6 on April 25, 2019, 12:19:40 PM
I believe in prayer

I believe prayer can be hampered by sin, or made effective through repentance and a change away from sin.

I know this to be true in my life, and frankly, in the lives of so many others.

So in our hours Kat is just suffering from an oppressive work situation. She is very good at what she does, and I have seen a pattern over the years where her superiors, slowly but surely add more and more work. This past week they took the girl she trained as an assistant away, to work at another property. So now Kat has to do that person's job all day, and her job at night and on weekends. She is sometimes only getting four hours at home a night and has worked the past 14 days straight.

That's why she said, maybe we should just throw in the towel, sell our hours and move to the farm. A major simplification, it frees up enough money for me to subsidize her income with no outward effect on our financial picture.

Well, we started praying a few nights ago to show her an new job which is not so oppressive. The next morning I was having breakfast with a good friend. We talked about Kat's situation, then he left for an appointment. At that appointment, his friend there a company owner was saying that he was losing his operations manager and he needed someone. But he wanted a strong Christian woman because he knows the strong work ethic that goes along with women like that.

My friend mentioned my wife and gave a bit of background. The owner seemed interested and asked if he could see her resume. Her and I worked on that resume around 2300 last night. I emailed it to my friend who forwarded it to his friend, the company owner. Kat was called this morning asking her if she could come in for an interview tomorrow.

God's work? His hand? For whatever comes, yes, I think so. It could be her next job which starts 10K above her current salary and is for 30 hours a week, not 100! If not, then it may open her eyes to the fact that there are many jobs out there and she is very talented and professional...The proverbial wrecking of the beaver dam which releases the water to go where it may?

Whatever the outcome, Thank you Father God. You love me and us beyond my ability to understand. How can you continue to watch out for a sinner, for sinners? Your love is constant and unchanging, and I am ashamed I cannot be a better man for you!

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.  Romans 8:28.

Praying for you guys.

Don, I'm glad there is some light there. Sad but true those that produce and do a great job tend to get the harder jobs and more responsibilities due to covering for those that don't. I see it all the time.

Life is too short to not look forward to getting up and doing what you for the day. If it is a short period of having to bust a## to accomplish a goal then that is fine. But if there is a never ending trend to more with no relief it is time for a change.

Prayers sent.

So true Mike,

I just turned 65, and although I still feel , young, actually, life is fairly brief. Just a couple years ago I first set eyes on my beautiful wife (20 years now). Oh and it wasn't that long since I hit the starter button in my AW-139 helo (That was 2010). And what of this web site, what a couple years old...??? (Didn't we start it in 14 or 15??)

Concur, do what you want to do. Walk away if you can from things that you do not want to do. Nothing wrong with a great blue collar or semi skilled job, or becoming a professional. One makes no better a man than the other.

I'd say grab opportunity, especially those which serve the Lord, your family, and your fellow man. Do not shy away from asking that pretty girl out on a date, as you just may end up getting to spend a lifetime with her. Don't think you aren't good enough, or underqualified or anything like that. King David must have felt like that once...

Like many men have done on this forum, Dave stepping out of his secure job to build things. Shawn moving to another state, leaving his work, his business and everything to pursue opportunity, JR buying this piece of dirt and taking a swipe at creating a better life.

All solid good moves and IMHO the right things to do. I spit in the eye of fear and gaze somewhere past him, toward opportunity.

Thank you Father God for giving us opportunity!

Update:

The process was interesting.

The company interviewed a host of candidates

Then the weekend came and went. My wife was told she was a top candidate and the owner would decide by Friday.

Yesterday they called and said they narrowed the field to just two people, My wife and another person.

They asked her to come in today to answer a couple questions.

They met Kat's pay requirements, which she had set at the very top of the scale. She negotiated two weeks paid vacation in lieu of one. She negotiated for a 3% annual raise. She asked for flexible hours and was granted her request. She was then offered the position and she accepted.

Prayer flat out works. God orders the steps of his faithful!
