I like your setup better than mine. Mine has worked with no issues but all stuffed in a duplex box.

Funny, been looking at lasers, but green. Here is what I plan on getting.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073VJCKJ8/?coliid=I2W5R68WMHSFME&colid=1Z3GNP120A3PC&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
That looks like a good deal JR. I haven’t heard of that brand but the self leveling is really nice.

Indoors I didn’t have any issues seeing the red line. Outdoors they say green is easier to see.

SOLD!

What are you my wife? it’s like her shoes. Spread over a year it’s only $20 a month.

Actually if you subtract the Laser level which I only paid $274 for it is a total of $256.31 total or $26.00 per light since I still have 30% of the wiring left.

I will use the laser on several different projects.

It is a really nice level. I bought an adapter and just put it on a cheap camera tripod.

Well I finally completed a project in my garage! Yay!

Based on JR's room addition and LED lighting he installed I purchased the same 10 lights back on December 21, 2018. Yesterday I finally have 9 of them installed.

I had a switched circuit for lighting and a box in the ceiling from before the finishing and insulation job. So I needed to tie into it.

I mounted the Terminal Blocks into the Leviton Enclosure, attached to the ceiling and wired it into the circuit. I should point out that I wanted everything surfaced mounted so I could remove and take with me if we sold the house and moved. Not a nice finished look like JR's nice install but close enough for government work in my garage.

After some trial and error I had some old wire management that had been sitting around work for 9 years that I re purposed for managing the wire.

I built 10 light enclosures out of 2"x2" and 1/4" ply. Using a compass and jigsaw to cut the 9" circles on the ply for the lights. Very easy setup.

Not the most efficient process but I would pull the wire through the box and wire management and then screw the light to the ceiling. I used my Stabila laser to line everything up and make sure it was square.

I also added three light under a cabinet/shelf I made. Two to light up the top of my tool boxes and one for my gun and ammo cases.

It took about 5 days total and about 100 trips up and down the ladder but I am happy to get this one out of my hair.

Now onto making cabinets/shelving out of the 7/8" Birch Bark plywood I bought a year ago also.

I move slow and steady..  :beercheers:

Hide Site / Re: New Land
« on: July 11, 2019, 03:54:14 PM »
Found a site that gives altitude per coordinates, so that solved one issue. Washoe maps give coordinates on the pointer, just type them in!

Couple more detail drawings and hope I'm good.

Idea is to get to permitting early and show what I have. Tweak if needed and make copies and submit. That also clears me with code enforcement per a call today!

Do some final work on the cont fan since I have a timer and speed control now. Tractor needs basic service and a good cleaning. Will measure for the seat I found on ebay.

JR, probably after the fact but if you download Google Earth and then zoom to your land, you can point to any location and it will give you Lat Lon and altitude in the lower right. Might be quicker.

Don,

Thank you and just for the record I get a lot of enjoyment, fellowship, support, and education from this site and I am happy to help anyway I can.

Interesting how a thread on California turns into a discussion on Islamism. DOT's!  :knucklehead:

I see this as a great discussion topic.

You asked a rhetorical question of how CAIR got so strong. I know how they did. They have been planning this for over 50 years. If anyone has any interest in the plan from the mouth of the Muslim Brotherhood themselves you only need to read the FBI confiscation papers from the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror funding case. This is from 1980's and 1990's. Way before 911.

https://clarionproject.org/muslim_brotherhood_explanatory_memorandum/

If you look on the last page of the 32 page document it lists all of the CAIR like organizations that had already been established with more to come.

I won't list out all of the documents for the FBI case but they are here if you have an interest. Of particular interest are the CAIR Amicus Brief and the Indictment. This was going on all through the late 80's and 90's. It hasn't stopped. Only more sophisticated now.
https://www.investigativeproject.org/case/65/us-v-holy-land-foundation

This is probably the best description of how they take over. It has happened exactly like this all over the world. Asia and now Europe. Starting in the USA.
https://civilusdefendus.wordpress.com/2010/01/10/4-stages-of-islamic-conquest/

SO the plan has been laid and executed for years with no real resistance. None from the Bushes, Clinton presidencies and just the opposite with the Obama 8 dismal years. He actually facilitated and supported the MB from Egypt to here in the USA. It is appalling how many times the terrorist groups and it's associated were invited into the White House.

Back to how CAIR became powerful in the USA. They had a plan, and they have funding. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Yemen, Obama, etc.. Now they need infrastructure.

They were excited when 911 happened. It gave them the perfect time to build and push the narrative of Muslim persecution in the USA. Backlash from the 911 terrorist attack. All fake. No backlash was observed. Quite the opposite. The MB took the opportunity to build their army bases (mosque's)in the USA. Since 911 they have built 1000's of them. Again without opposition. They even had the balls to build one on the site of 911. How is that for their ultimate goal of submission. They take over main roads in Europe and UK for prayers. They submit and let it happen.

Good article on Army Base growth.
https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2017/12/memo_to_american_muslims_erase_the_doctrine_of_jihad_or_get_out.html

Below is a link to a translated DAWA. (Islamic Instruction to all Muslims). It is just a summary of the original text. I you click on the link at the top it has 62 pages of instructions. Good read.
https://archive.org/stream/TheGlobalIslamicResistanceCall/The_Global_Islamic_Resistance_Call_-_Chapter_8_sections_5_to_7_LIST_OF_TARGETS_djvu.txt

So they have a plan, funding, infrastructure, now they just need soldiers. They just need to fill up the army bases which they have been doing for years. I could go on and on but my point is what do the Christians/Jews have? They are distracted whether to allow gay ministers.

There is no equivalent organized resistance in the non Muslim world. That is why they win.

There are a few things happening. Trump has floated the idea of making the MB designated as the terrorist organization that it is. If he does that then they can start to go after the cash cow that supports all of the Infrastructure and LegalJihad that is currently going on in the USA. Cut off the money flow and it will be slowed down. If he does that you will see all heck break lose. It will also dry up support for the Omar's of the world. She would not be able to fund a campaign without their support.

Maybe, just maybe they will actual investigate and PROSECUTE every single case of fraud that occurs. You might remember the case here in MN. It was six months to investigate and still no real actionable results. Possible $100 Million. That is a lot of profitable bodega's cash heading back to Somalia.

https://www.twincities.com/2018/12/17/remember-that-allegation-of-100-mil-in-child-care-fraud-for-terrorists-heres-a-fresh-update/

So we need to go after the cash.

I am still waiting on the Joel Osteen's of the world to organize and not be afraid of the phobia label. I won't hold my breath. Every church in the USA needs to have a coordinated portion of their sermon every time they speak that motivates and educates. But I have very little faith in organized religion.

I will stop but could go on forever.. still have to do my day job! LOL

And just for icing on top!

Well Rats! I have always wonder what you do for a living but never wanted to ask. You have some odd hours! :)

Interesting. I have to say I had to Google Lockout/Tag out. I had never heard of that before. It makes total sense. Stay safe!

Sorry. I didn’t think it was that confusing. My post was directly responding to Don’s post basically stating that Omar is now a National problem because someone (coward) in MN didn’t do anything to stop her while she was running for election.  He directly called out a member that I interpret as me with apologies not to put me down but in his opinion illuminate the errors in my thinking.

Then proceeds on to highlight Minnesota and the Somali community here and then the election of Omar and the lack of opposition/confrontation to her campaign. Because there was no evidence of confrontation Dons truth is that lack of confrontation exhibits cowardice.

Again this is my interpretation of what Don wrote. I don’t take any offense to what he says and he has his opinion.

What I wrote was my perception and what I see as personal reality.

There is no doubt there is a huge issue. What is God’s plan in all of this I don’t know. I can say for me personally I haven’t felt called to personally confront this. Possibly someday just not today.

I just related what I feel would have and what would happen if I personally confronted someone like Omar or a campaign.

Don’s specific verbiage below from post above.

Clear as mud?  Lol. I’ll put down my typewriter now.

P.S. I feel like I’m waiting for Don’s voice to pipe and say....  hey, I’m sitting right here in the room!  Lol

Someone just has to confront it. If that someone is grounded and standing on the principals of God, he is likely to triumph, but absolutely, the work of the Lord is served, and in the end God wins.

Continue to stand and do nothing and see what happens.

A from an earlier posting I'd like to show a clear example of how that happens. (Apologies to the member, as i do not wish to put you down in any way, just illuminate the error in your thinking...in my view)

Minneapolis is a place where many somali refugees settled. More like Invaders, but we will go with refugees. So we see where people are afraid of the repercussions of speaking out against the evil and wrong they see. So these people grow stronger, because they are a strong people. Their will is not matched by the accommodating sheep they live amongst. So it goes until the day they gain enough strength to elect a congresswoman. Now this congresswoman who allegedly was married to her brother, and that went unchallenged. I lay that at the feet of politically correct brainwashed American citizens living all around them.

Should anyone have stood up against that community, pointed out the person who this congresswoman actually is, then the tide may have been stemmed. But no, those people in and around that community demonstrated cowardice in the face of the enemy.

I know this sounds harsh, but oftentimes the truth does. And this is EXACTLY how this whole politically correct thing got its start. When things are just too difficult to face, we just don't face them. And that is cowardice.

So now this congresswoman is America's problem. I have to take time out of my fight to assist on this one, another direct threat against my nation, a nation of (weak) Christians, and against our culture. Thanks a bunch!

But this is what the unwillingness to engage will lead to.

No offense taken. That is the great thing about America. All viewpoints are welcome. :)

I don't know God's plan but it might be different than we all think.

Before Omar's election she was a no body. Other than Keith Ellison no one in America had much of an idea of what was happening in MN. Keith was totally ineffective in DC and that is why he quit and went onto try his hand at LawJihad instead of Congress. He has been relatively quiet. We will see.

Omar is pushed to the stage by the same Muslim Brotherhood that supported Keith Ellison. A couple of years later Omar and her cohorts like Talib and others now dominate the MSM. They have thrown off the covert plan that they have been executing for the past 40 years and are now stating for the World to see that they the Muslims are going to rule the world. Blatant antisemitism and hate for Christians now in plain site. The Christian of the world can no longer hold their eyes and say... it's the religion of peace. It is becoming plain to see that they don't want to assimilate. They have no love for America. Every day that becomes clearer.

2020 will be interesting to see if we are called to arms at the ballot box and all of these insurgents are voted out now that everyone can see them for what they are if they wish.

Also not sure if anyone noticed but Trump is now going after the root cause. Who has facilitated the overthrow for 50 years. If we are going to attack anyone it should be the "CHRISTIAN" organizations and open border groups that have brought this ilk into the USA over the years not from compassion or religious duty but mostly for the almighty dollar. Millions and Millions.

Does God have a hand in this? I'm thinking yes.

https://www.democracynow.org/2019/6/6/headlines/mexican_police_arrest_immigration_activists_cristobal_sanchez_and_irineo_mujica

I am absolutely sure that these arrests were part of Trumps plan and part of the leverage conversation with Mexican President Orbrador. Go after those that support and pay for the invasion activities. They have all shown themselves and now it time to take them out.

And now for a dose of reality. I could have organized a counter protest to Omar in MN. It would have received zero press coverage unless it was violent. And that is exactly what the MB wants. More victims of Muslim hate that CAIR would have had nationwide coverage from MSM. Even if it wasn't violent it would have put targets on everyone's back from the social justice mod and internet doxing groups. It is a coordinated effort by multiple organizations with almost unlimited funds. (See Soros , Liberals billionaires, etc..)

So onto doxing... They would have published my home address, phone numbers, kids names, where they go to school, where I work, etc... MY work would have received harassment calls, emails, and personal confrontations from a host of CAIR related organizations. Even though they are a Christian based private company I have no doubt that they would have fired me for bringing this @#$storm down on their otherwise innocuous company of 65 years. They would not have cheered me on "go get'em you modern day Crusader.

So after they fire me I would lose my health insurance unless I paid the crazy amount of COBRA to keep it intact. Probably $1500.00 a month or more. And because I have cancer trying to get a new policy would be even more expensive. So not to bankrupt my family just so that I could continue to have treatment I would drop from any policy and just provide insurance for them and therefore making it at least somewhat affordable. Being 62 and in my health situation it would be almost impossible for me to get another job that provides healthcare. It is illegal to ask those questions or discriminate against me but we all know how the real world works.

So my wife would need to find a job (She hasn't worked outside the home since our daughter was born 21 years ago. At 51 not very marketable either) just so she and the kids could get health insurance. Maybe a government job. :) That is probably doable and hopefully God would provide a way.

So that leaves me. I would suspend treatments so as not to bankrupt the household (my treatments for just one year were over $250,000.00. That would wipe out investments and savings very quickly) and the small amount of money we do have and could still possibly send my 17 year old son to college. The Life Insurance on me would help my wife and son relocate closer to her folks in FL and possibly help with living expenses for a few years. She would still need to work in some capacity until she reached 65 and could apply for Medicaid/Medicare and possibly stop working. That is 14 years from now.

SOooooo I have no idea what God's plan is and how it will shape out in the future but for now I will try to keep my job and health insurance and hopefully put my son through college over the next 5 years and then we will see.

Maybe over dramatic but this is my reality... in my view... :) SO what are you willing to lose?

« on: June 10, 2019, 03:09:29 PM »
I think it is sad but true that it boils down to what do you have to lose and what are you willing to lose at all for?

Like I have always told my kids when they see some some miscreant post something on social media or selling drugs on campus or any scum bag move. Do you challenge them on social media and then have them and their crowd harass you at school, destroy your car in the parking lot because you stood up to them, always be looking over your shoulder to make sure they are coming up on you, let your grades suffer, chances at college because you mixed it up with them, lose your sports scholarship... etc.. Or do you just avoid them and ignore them unless they involve you directly? Who has the most to lose? You are the scum. It's almost always you.

I have thought about this a lot and have thought to myself, self, what am I willing to do knowing that I would lose my job, lose my house, lose my life savings, lose any chance at retirement with dignity, put my family in harms way even after I am gone, and the many other things that would happen if I did one simple thing like protest our MN little Mogadishu. It wouldn't take much to trigger an avalanche of liberal hate to descend. Would I want and be ready for that? Would that be in line with the prime objective of keeping my family safe and protected the best way I know how? I don't think so.

So unless something happens that directly impacts my family (not sure what that is yet) I will have to watch and wait unless I have no choice or my ball of string is about to run out.

Love this!

My dad was the same guy, same era. Flew B-17's. As a kid I wore his hat, same one he wore while twisting steel four miles below him. Just incredible men.

Think about how much we have changed since then.

Could we mount an offense like the one they so willingly did back then?

D-Day, omaha beach, 2,200 Americans killed. One day, 2,200. It took years for the death toll in the Stan to reach those numbers

Just pillar of salt down right courageous men in that day. So honored to be the son of one of them.

Don, I believe that most of what we see and hear is leftist propaganda that does not represent the majority of Americans.

E.g. look at how many homosexuals are represented in our sitcoms, house hunting shows, and commercials.   Same with bi racial couples.

You would think, based on the media representation that 30% of Americans are homosexual, when in reality it is about 3-5% max.

Look at the growing push back against the legalized murder of the unborn.  Trump, for all his faults has emboldened the silent majority.

It’s time to rise.

I’m with you TRN. I made that comment to my wife about the over representation of LBGBS types in all things media and she just doesn’t recognize it. She still has the 1970 mindset where the gay partner couldn’t visit their partner in the Hospital when they were dying because they weren’t related.

It is called normalization and has been going on for 50 years with ever increasing frequency and range. They want everyone to think all of it is just normal and if you don’t you are a phobe if some sort.

Most disgusting.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Working with mistakes
« on: May 31, 2019, 10:04:49 AM »
I'll put my 2cts.. I have had a very weird career. Started off construction then trucking ops and then trucking Info Systems.

At an early age I was a manager of people. Many times much older than me. Not so much anymore. I had people that had "WANNA" and I had people that I would have to pick up at their house, get them out of bed, and drag them to work at 5am so I had a staff.  I have always tried to lead by example. Be in early, stay late, do what was needed, try to improve things everyday, and expect the same of others. That created frustrations. Everyone is very different and has different motivations. I had some that just wanted to make enough money so they could FIRST buy their bag of pot and then maybe pay bills or groceries. Others wanted my job. I always wanted people to want my job.

I have rarely been compensated based on incentive. I have almost always had a salary and sometimes a very discretionary bonus. If my boss was mad at me at the time he was doling out $$ I didn't get much. If he was happy I got a little more. Plus one of my bosses was bipolar so you never really knew which one would show up that day.

One company went public that I had worked at for 10 years and the only one that was given stock was a brand new VP of Sales. All of us that help build the business to what allowed it to go public got the joy of purchasing the stock at a discount of fee's. Not discount stock price but just reduced broker fee's. Not a YAY moment. A year or so later I was recruited to another company that lied about their financial viability and eventually went belly up. I went to work fora company in Dallas and was awarded stock options.... but the price o the stock went progressively downhill after SEC investigations and a bunch of other stuff not to be put on a public forum. :) So it was a nice thought but ended up worthless.

So long story... I have basically been paid an annual wage and that is it. The only time I received a significant increase in that annual salary is when I was recruited and changed companies. Otherwise they would try to keep an increase at less than 3% per year. So now... 40 years later I look at every day as unique. Did I provide 100% value to the company for what they pay and if so we broke even for that day. If not why not. The option is most always to change companies. ( I currently can't do that so it is a little frustrating but is what it is)

I have worked for both publicly held companies and privately held companies. Most private companies have a perspective that if they give you a $100.00. It is as if they are giving it to you out of their own personal checkbook. Which in essence they are. They pay you just enough to keep you. That is it. You rarely find one that wants to share the wealth beyond their own family. If I was in their shoes I might be the same way so as long as they pay me a competitive wage I am happy to put in each day and give them 100%.

Seems like I have strayed off of the original question but my point is and I discuss this with everyone that reports to me is that it is their company. We work for them and if they want A we give them A. If they ask for our opinion we provide them with well thought out and defensible opinions and recommendations. If they listen and still want to do it their way then that what we do. If we arrive a not liking that more often than not we find another company to work for. OR go start your own company. :)

In the IT world we have what is called a RCA or Root Cause Analysis. After an event or issue with any of the system we have a process where we go back and analyze what caused the event and more importantly is there anything we could have done to prevent it from happening or moving forward put controls or monitoring in place to keep it from happening again. It is very fact based and not a witch hunt or finger pointing exercise. Just the Facts Jack. It works very well. Plus give ownership and management a high degree of confidence in the department and staff. Transparency.

Phil,

I still get chills every time I watch a launch. I think it goes back to me as a kid watching the Apollo missions take off.

Very cool how they are deploying the 60 Satellites. "like a deck of cards fanning out".  So are they basically on the orbit path and then one by one will put on the brakes to settle in to their stationary position? I guess I am assuming they will all be on the same orbit but maybe they would be. More of a mesh?

Either way congrats! Love hearing the crowd cheer in the control room at each milestone during the launch. We don't get to do that where I work..

I almost qualify for the "Always been deployed ribbon with the sad face devices...

But I had one assignment as an instructor (Read: Cush) so, missed that one.

Notice the colors??

Helped get my boss get promoted is brown...That's crap ;-)

never got a ribbon, ribbon...yellow...

Funny

Everyone on this website should get one, "Had to put up with Don, award" with a horsewhip device for each firing

How many would Shawn have???
I think Shawn would be awarded MVP ribbon.

I have a little faith in Barr and hopefully some justice will be served. Maybe not Ken’s GF but maybe all of her cabal

Anyone that tells Feinstein “that’s not a crime” while being questioned and leave her dumbstruck is ok by me. Lol

Time will tell. There have been many investigations going on for 2 years during the Mueller kubiki theatre . Barr has all of that. First one to have the balls to say publicly that Trump campaign was spied on.

Trump might just use a maximum leverage. You already see what a dope Nadler is.

In Vegas for a IT conference. Had to get my In-N-Out fix double double.

Mad house but not hot so that is good. 9 hours on conference room.

Ah, wireshark. Love and hate it.

Yep. Glad I'm not the one that has to use it. Wouldn't be pretty. I just go to these so I know what is possible so my BS meter is better when talking to my Network Engineers.

My neighbor is there too. Mike Walton, presenting for MicroSoft.
Nice. I will have to look him up unless he is the one you had the “dog” incident with.

Technically, we all just need to be neighbors and between the 20-30 of us regulars we would have all aspects covered!  :likebutton:

I vote for Idaho, next to Ken pretty sure with that many of us we could permanently lose his gf too!
Great work on the project. Thanks for posting it up. Challenges and all.

I agree with ^^^. That is as long as we can encourage Ken to lose H.

I think the Chevy will go down the road around $3k  At that price point it will run and drive.  Bring a trailer, it will still need rubber....and refinement. LoL  Engine is out right now getting some work done to it to make it reliable and semi fresh.

If it doesn't sell at that price point, I will put some 1 ton axles I have and other parts in it and move it higher.

KooT, What ever happened to the yellow truck? Did you end up selling or upgrading it? Do you have a 454 and Auto Trans to put into it? :)

Spoke to Norm today, he’s been busy planting. Week or two ago he mentioned he had sold it.
Thanks for the update. I would imagine Norm is really busy right now. All of the farmers up here are going crazy trying to get everything planted.

Glad to hear also he wasn’t flooded out.

I at least have a somewhat finished shop that I could work in with a little effort to make room.

My very first car was a '48 Willy's with a 4 Flathead. Had a burned valve so my Dad and I fixed that and I drove to High School. I don't see a category trying to spin all four wheels in low range by dumping the clutch and frying it. Some kids are just dumb.  :knucklehead:

I think I would score in the upper 300's. I didn't roll it though.

This Easter Sunday there is a family that nearly lost their father. He is in a medically induced coma after a farm accident. Last harvest he was having trouble with the auger plugging up so he removed the grate in the auger hopper. 2 days ago he was moving some corn. He did what we all do. Step on the hopper to clean out the truck. He forgot the grate was gone. He was alone with no cell service. He had to cut his foot off with his pocket knife and crawl to the house. He nearly bled out.  They ended up taking his leg off just below the knee.
This hits real close to home. Kurt Is a friend and neighbor. We worked together many times. He comes over for coffee in the mornings sometimes just to sit and visit. He is a very strong willed man. I believe he will recover but its not going to be easy.

Jon, It looks like your friend has made National news and sounds like he is going to be fine. Great to hear!
