My question to those taking these pics. Did you make sure to give the truck driver the bird as you went past?

Firearms / G43 review and upgrade
« on: May 09, 2016, 07:19:59 PM »
OK, so couple weeks ago I finally was able to find one in stock so I could fondle it. Well, that turned into me owning it. Not that I need to have another caliber to stock but it is 9mm so I guess if I had to add one then why not that caliber? For that matter not that I need another pistol but hey everyone else is apparently buying them so I might as well too. Long story short is my 5' tall wife has very small hands, my girls hands aren't a whole lot larger. As such once I put my big paws on it and my hands engulfed it I was pretty sure it would fit my wife. It's a $500 gun verus the Kimber solo's she was looking at a month or so ago that are well over double that price and it's a glock so I didn't think I could go wrong. Worst case scenario one of my daughters would lay claim to it in the future.

So I brought it home and showed the wife, score it fits her hand well and first introductions went well. Then we went on vacation for a couple weeks and I still have not fired it. Prior to us leaving I did purchase a couple items for it. For starters I picked up two extra mags. It came with two one of which had the extension on the bottom for better grip. The other mag did not have that lip and so I ordered an extension that also adds two rounds. I do not like the stock slide release at all, it's piss poor at best. Why glock would think that stock slide release is at all worthy is beyond me. So the extended version is on back order, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks the stocker is no good. I also forgot it was on BO until I had the slide off of it today and realized I can't find my 3/32nd straight punch either. Anyhow that will have to wait until that slide release shows to do the trigger bar upgrade at the same time.

added 2 round bottom extension on stocker mag

All put back together and that plus 2 round extension makes this fit my hand very well. We will see how wife unit likes it. Hoping to get some rounds down range later this week. I really like the size of this compared to my full size model 22.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Nine meals from Anarchy
« on: April 19, 2016, 12:26:58 AM »
Saw this & thought I'd post the article & a recent experience.

So here's the article link. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-04-18/nine-meals-anarchy

Now here's the experience. So I stop in at a local warehouse club type store recently. Rumor has it this is the busiest of this type of store in a fifty mile radius. Doesn't really matter when you stop in this place has a good (on average) fifteen registers open & the lines are normally five deep sometimes more. The majority of the customers by my recollection are normally buying food. So I'm in line behind a middle age guy who has two buckets of freeze dried food nothing else in the cart. He's in decent shape and quiet minding his own business. Gets to the register & the lady running said register takes his membership card. She then looks at the cart eyeing the two buckets of food. Looks back at customer & asks him and I quote "what are you a dooms day prepper?" The guy calmly responds no, my family hikes and camps a lot. Apparently that wasn't what the clerk wanted to hear as she frowns & then asks "well are the meals any good?" At this point I'm rolling my eyes as the guy then calmly responds i don't know but I guess we're gunna find out. He takes his receipt and walks away.

So I'm looking around at the irony of the whole situation I just witnessed. Here I am with jars of peanut butter, loaves of bread & boring snacks for the kiddos weekly packed lunches I approach the clerk. She gives me the normal greeting and takes my card. Looking around still I lean in and ask her if she's a fan of dooms day preppers? (I think I watched one episode for the record) She states no confused & embarrased it seems by my direct question. I then tell her the fact that if the trucks ever stop running we have less than a ten day supply of food in this nation. Wish I had a camera handy at that moment.

So I assume in the last ten years the majority of people that visit this site voted Republican. I'll confess, I did sometimes & sometimes not. I don't belong to any group really, yeah I gave money to GOA & they made me a member but so what? I'm not a member of a church or any gun ranges or even the chamber of commerce. You may ask why, my reasoning is rooted in the fact I believe in self reliance & unless it involves a hand shake, looking a man in the eye or following Christ directly not through some other organization I want no part of it. But anyhow back to what started this post, if you think voting for a president will make one bit of difference in the direction of where we are headed I believe you are dead wrong & have wool covering your eye lids. I think most would agree all the presidential candidates suck. That in of itself should tell you something. Anyhow, I will not be voting from here on out & that is my vote. I refuse to be a part of this evil corrupt completely staged for entertainment scam of an election cycle. Oh and for those claiming they will make it mandatory for everyone to vote good luck with that too & welcome to communism!

On a final note I want to thank those who gave their time, blood, sweat & lives to give me the opportunity to vote. So in honor of them my vote has been cast going forward by not voting.

OK, so I'll admit. My first thought was maybe this was a Hillary supporter (Ken possibly?) trying to provide a photo for a menacing anti gun ad.

Then I thought maybe it was one of the older retirees here on the forum and they had misplaced their depends and with poor eyesight thought this was it?

Anyhow after those fun images I thought it would be a good time to play that game "caption this"..........

If this needs put in a different place by all means just move it I won't be offended.

Anyhow so after getting a very heavy 30" of snow last week the wife and I on Sat morning were strolling thru Lowes looking at $800 snow blowers. I told her maybe in a month or so I can find one at a Mom n Pop place that they don't want to sit on for an entire year for a discount. As fate would have it the older female realtor who lives across from me (who I had a discussion about her broken snow blower a week earlier) later this same Saturday hits me up and says she has a deal for me. Apparently she needed to get her convertible out of storage and needed to make room in her garage. She tells me that the primer is out of it and she doesn't know how to start it. Visibly it also had a flat tire. Tells me $50 and it's mine.......

Not the best picture but Score!

So I literally drag it home with one flat tire and never hearing it run. Looked like it was never used other than the extremely dirty oil. So my two youngest girls help me get it up on my steel (Yes Don no wood tables for me!) work bench and I tear it apart. I pull the primer out thinking it's probably bad. Nope it blew air when I pressed on it but it was not hooked up. I pull off the steel cover to the carb which was only attached with two of three screws. One was missing and one was a wood screw instead of a sheet metal screw and lock washer. So this I find this hanging from the carb........

So yeah now we know why the primer didn't work! So I pull both wheels off as I'm a big proponent of tubes in ultra small tires. Make a trip to the tractor supply to get new quart of oil, couple of tubes, spark plug, couple sheet metal screws and some fresh gas. Less than $30 and a little sweat and she starts and runs like a top! I think the machine is easily worth $200 has electric start even.

Build Threads / 2008 Jeep Jk 4 Door
« on: March 25, 2016, 11:50:59 PM »
Ok, so I've done several mods since buying this approximately 10 months ago. I bought it bone stock with 56,000 miles on the odometer. I really like the jeep & I really dislike the turd mini van power plant. With several trips across country I've racked up close to 20K miles since acquiring it. I have been planning a major oil change as of late. But for now that's gunna stay under wraps, don't quite have all the details worked out. So in the mean time I'll be showcasing the few small upgrades I have completed.

D.O.T. / DOTing of Dons threads as a past time
« on: March 20, 2016, 11:02:38 PM »
Seeing how there are many of us involved in this venture I wanted to take a minute & detail my passion. You see I'm not sure if Don realizes it but I thoroughly enjoy interrupting his posts. You know the ones where he's saved up a whole days worth of progress & pics and is detailing it all with like a huge dump of 30 consecutive posts all within 5 minutes. If I can catch him in the act mid stream and just get in a single "nice" comment then I feel that all is right in the world for those couple minutes. I'm also pretty sure Big D is cussing me while he's rapidly trying to finish his posts before some other knucklehead comes in & dirties up the thread even more! Anyhow I wanted to share, carry on fellow DOT nation!!!!! ;)

D.O.T. / Movie Dogma & current Pope
« on: February 18, 2016, 06:17:19 PM »
So, yeah I'm not Catholic and if I were I would be extremely ashamed of the current Pope. Literally every day some stupid thing falls out of his mouth. I don't think he really understands Christianity at all and tend to believe that this is the typical lack of a leader we get as the world slips further away from Christ. SOooo in true DOT fashion I say lets have a good laugh because if one thing is pretty certain God likes to laugh. Really, if he is paying any attention to me at all and my life it's a daily occurrence for him. So I run across this card board cutout picture of the pope (actually the one I saw had an 8 year old kid taking a selfie in front of it) but it's at the white house no less, go figure.

& immediately I recall that dumb Dogma movie I once saw years ago and think of this.......

Then it dawns upon me, I don't doubt from the things this Pope has said and continues to say and do that maybe just maybe this is his understanding of Christianity.......
