Word(s) of the day
« on: February 19, 2015, 08:44:10 AM »
Let's do a scriptural word of the day. I'll share mine, others may share as well. We won't place any shackles on the holy spirit on this site!

Proverbs 13:2  From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence.

I've been leaning on this one a lot lately:

James 1:5 "But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him."

shining ever brighter til the full light of day

But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness

A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.  :)

Hebrews 7: 24-25

...but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely, those who come to God through him...

Hebrews 4:15

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weakness, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet he did not sin.

We do, however speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age who are coming to nothing

Do not be deceived

Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were

But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the spirit of God.

Psalm 91:5-11

You will not fear the terror of the night
Nor the arrow that flies by the day
Nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness
Nor the plague that destroys at midday

A thousand may fall at your side
Ten thousand at your right hand
But it will not come near you
You will only observe it with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked

If you say the Lord is my refuge
And you make the most high your dwelling
No harm will overtake you
No disaster will come near your tent
For he will command his angels concerning you
To guard you in all your ways

I have a sense that we are too late..."Their" plan has moved too far along to do anything other than to hopefully surf the tsunami when it comes.

I do feel God will protect his people. Perhaps that is why this Real-Man site exists...

I read for quite some time this morning searching for the correct verse for today, and I flipped the page and WHAMO, there it was.

20 For they speak against You wickedly,
And Your enemies take Your name in vain.
21 Do I not hate those who hate You, O Lord?
And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?
22 I hate them with the utmost hatred;
They have become my enemies.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Sorry, three.

Matthew 7

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

From Proverbs:

14:19  The simple believe anything, but the prudent give thought to their steps

14:34  Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people

1:32  For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them
But whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease without fear or harm.

2:12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men...

3:32  For the Lord detests the perverse. but takes the upright into his confidience

Do you think Pharaoh had free will?

Matthew 6:5-13

And when you pray do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others... But when you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your father, who is unseen. Then your father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you,

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words...

This, then is how you should pray

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed by thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

We lost another fine man last week across the pond.
Seen this and though how appropriate.

John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down ones life for ones friends.

Rest easy Sgt. Doiron.
I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.

May his sacrifice not be in vain.

And if this passage does not shake you to the core, you need something you do not have....

Made Alive in Christ - Ephesians 2

2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, 2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Saying 5  (Sayings of wise men)

28
Do not move an ancient boundary stone
    set up by your ancestors

My Note: When I was reading this earlier it occurred to me that this verse may have more application than just a physical land boundary. Now being a Kentuckian who owns a farm which was first established in the early 1800's I get that. When you read the land description, it does indeed give some boundary markers as a "bend in the creek", a large pile of stones, and a spike set in an oak tree! So yes, I could see where it tells me not to move the pile of stones which I could do quite easily with a track loader.

But what occurred to me when I read it was we should not tamper with those boundaries for social behavior set by our ancestors. The one that came to mind immediately was same sex relationships. In modern day America, gay relationships are forcing their way into the mainstream lives of many. These relationships are in biblical terms abominations. We cross that boundary in what is becoming Sodom which was America and look at all the unraveling of order, and values, and personal responsibility, and just about everything good.

Saying 7

Proverbs 23

1 When you sit to dine with a ruler,
note well what[a] is before you,

2
and put a knife to your throat
if you are given to gluttony.

3
Do not crave his delicacies,

4

Proverbs 23

Saying 9

6
Do not eat the food of a begrudging host,
    do not crave his delicacies;

7
for he is the kind of person
who is always thinking about the cost.
“Eat and drink,” he says to you,
but his heart is not with you.

8
You will vomit up the little you have eaten
and will have wasted your compliments.

Saying 10

9
Do not speak to fools,

(When I read this "Do not speak to fools" it immediately made me think of liberals! But we have to at least try to speak the truth to them, but if they continue to argue, insult, and rebuke you, then I guess we do as Paul and the disciples did and "Shake the dust off our sandals!

Saying 15

17 Do not let your heart envy sinners,

18 There is surely a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23

Saying 16

19 Listen, my son, and be wise,
and set your heart on the right path:

20 Do not join those who drink too much wine

Proverbs 23

Saying 17

22 Listen to your father, who gave you life,
and do not despise your mother when she is old.

23 Buy the truth and do not sell it—
wisdom, instruction and insight as well.

24 The father of a righteous child has great joy;
a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him.

25 May your father and mother rejoice;
may she who gave you birth be joyful!

Saying 18

26 My son, give me your heart
and let your eyes delight in my ways,

27 for an adulterous woman is a deep pit,
and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

28 Like a bandit she lies in wait
and multiplies the unfaithful among men.

Proverbs 23

Saying 19

29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has strife? Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

30 Those who linger over wine,
who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
    when it goes down smoothly!

32 In the end it bites like a snake
    and poisons like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange sights,
and your mind will imagine confusing things.

34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas,
lying on top of the rigging.

35 “They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt!
They beat me, but I don’t feel it!
    When will I wake up
so I can find another drink?”

Proverbs 24

Saying 20

1 Do not envy the wicked,
    do not desire their company;

2 for their hearts plot violence,
and their lips talk about making trouble.

Saying 25

10 If you falter in a time of trouble,
    how small is your strength!

11 Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

12 If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”

Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?

Saying 26

15 Do not lurk like a thief near the house of the righteous,

16 for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,

Saying 28

Rom chapter 9:  14  What shall we say then? There is no injustice with God, is there? May it never be! 15  For He says to Moses, "I WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM I HAVE MERCY, AND I WILL HAVE COMPASSION ON WHOM I HAVE COMPASSION." 16  So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on God who has mercy. 17  For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "FOR THIS VERY PURPOSE I RAISED YOU UP, TO DEMONSTRATE MY POWER IN YOU, AND THAT MY NAME MIGHT BE PROCLAIMED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE EARTH." 18  So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires.
19  You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" 20  On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? 21  Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use?
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

Revelation 21:4 - And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 - Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Romans 14:8 - For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

1 Thessalonians 4:14 - For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
