Powerplant, Driveline, and Braking / LMM build
« on: March 23, 2020, 09:24:51 PM »
so.. started another 3+3 build with LMM/1000/263XHD.  2-4wd conversion. found a ‘79 HP D60 for a drop in square body swap and keep manual tcase from the duramax.

will be getting a fuel system (either kennedy or FASS)

EFI Live with DSP5.

thoughts on turbo? he’s pulling the built suncoast trans from his ‘08 truck before he sells it and put a factory one back in. i think his LMM truck currently has a 3794 garrett in his truck he’s driving now.  i think in his 3+3.. he’s looking for more power while retaining drivability.

once we start the actual build i’ll start another thread. but i wanted to ask this separately.

Build Threads / 3+3 2500
« on: May 01, 2017, 06:48:17 AM »
just gonna leave this here for a teaser since i don't have any pics yet.. but i've found one. made rj deal yesterday so it's 50% mine. taking some $$ today/tomorrow and figuring out a way to get it away this week.

1988 chevy cheyenne 3+3 r2500. original owner. straight as an arrow with no rust apart from minor surface oxidation under the paint. seized 350 (no matter.. you know what's going in it ) 14 bolt of unknown gearing. and dry as a bone.

once i drop some $$ off, i'll get some more pics. it's less than 1 mile from my new house.

plan is to far it apart, blasted and epoxy primed. then just let it sit until i get a chance to actually start on it after his house reno and wedding. that's eating up time and $$ like a teenager (from what my parents have told me..) hahaha

and i know i know.. pics or it didn't  happen. they're coming.

hoping to get it running soon. have a few must have pieces ordered and coming in to the cummins place up the road.

so, heres the kaiser we are currently in the process of repowering..
hope to have it drivable by spring, but who knows when it'll actually be done. hahah

running driving all original '67 kaiser and an entire spare frame and axles

and her soon to be transplanted heart.. in the form she showed up to the house

along with the 47RH i picked up on Long Island while i was in the city doing a job..

shackle reverse mid-process

front spring hangers welded under the frame..

and sleeves welded in the frame

rear spring hanger plates

and spring hangers mocked up
rear spring hangers from a K3500 van with CUCV springs and axles (front kingpin dana 60 and FF 14 bolt rear with detroit and 4.56s) no pics of them right now..

alittle purple power never hurt no one..

when i washed the engine.. it was already painted like this!

just kidding.. it was filty. and those valve covers didn't stand a chance against aircraft paint remover..

my take on the supply and return lines for the heater core.. i thought it was kinda cool looking.

Build Threads / just another 1st gen cummins
« on: December 11, 2015, 12:51:05 PM »
so this is the day i picked her up

1989 D250, 5.9 cummins w/ unknown mileage (supposedly has 10K since its been gone through, as well as the trans) 727 3 speed, NP205 tcase, 3.07 D61/71 combo
to say this thing runs like a top is an understatement. PO was on leave for 10+ days when met him at his house in jacksonville. turned the key on and bumped it, and by bump i mean .5 second, and she was up and running. idled perfectly and the 4" straight pipe sounds amazing.

after pulling the mat out of the bed (it was raining when i bought it, so i couldn't snoop like i wanted), this was the best fix for the bed. hahah

frame was in amazing condition. zero rot anywhere. only minimal surface collection and it was mostly dirt..

pressure washed, scuffed and painted the frame, along with the bones of the flatbed that would soon take shape, with a new set of shoes (old BFGs were worn unevenly and badly out of balance. rode like crap) 285 75r16 terra grapplers fixed that

also has a set of donor doors from an '87 D150 with perfect panels and functioning windows, along with an immaculate bench seat from the same truck

material for bed.. pulled out of the woods at my parents house.

and coming back from the mill..

planed, jointed, routed and ready to be fumigated.

headache rack and fill neck

fitting the oak slabs on the bed and headache rack

jockey box manipulation to fit under bed, between cab and rear tires

more fun

notched to fit around front position rear spring hanger

rustoleum semi gloss professional..

test fitting..

mounted

5th wheel plate and OBA tank (seen from under the bed/rear)

Viair 100% duty cycle mounted in passenger jockey box

new bed mocked up. lots more holes to be drilled and self tapping deck bolts to be put in place. hahah

finished bed and headache rack
