Busy supervising testing today and just finished reading about Matt and Doug- laughed out loud so kids wondered what I was doing disturbing their testing!

Thanks Don, the book (on phone) is making a tourtred day go easy!

That was a cool jeep
CJ7, 4" lift, 12.50/33" mud tires, 6 cyl 4 speed, granny first had headers an intake manifold and holley 2 bbl carb, a push guard and KC DayLighters, and those two loose speakers...

I was relaying the tank training stories to a guy that works for me who was a captain in the armored cav commanding a tank in desert storm.  He spit tea out his nose at lunch today.... "you mean he swept the back of the tank with the laser, right?"....umm no. 30 cal.  Pffftt! out the tea came...

Yep, that's all true. Was shortly before they issued us the new (at the time) M240's
We were shooting an ancient Coax called a M219. It's design later let to SFC Kol.... getting shot. I don't think I wrote about that in Distant Thunder, but is in the second book (unpublished)

You slap the feed tray cover, and sometimes it just started shooting!

I take it guys these days don't use "Back Scratching??"

Tell him I did it on the far end of the basic driving range at Knox, he'll know the place. I was going down the far hill not far from the dump, well what was the dump in those days.

The back scratching happened near Steel Tank Gunnery Range on Knox as well. He will have fired from that range as well in his initial training
