Hello from North eastern Nebraska.
« on: August 23, 2015, 04:54:29 PM »
I am a farm hand from Pender Ne. 42 years old. 6 kids. 4 from first marriage 2 from second. My wife of 4 years is from south eastern Kentucky. Met on the the internet. We enjoy gardening. We got into it more when we found out our youngest 2 has severe food allergies.  soy, chicken, milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts. oats and goat milk. Its been rough but we got it figured out.

We also enjoy traveling and camping. We go to Kentucky at least once a year sometimes twice to visit the wife's family. This year we took the camper and made a big trip out of it. We try to go on several camping trips a year even if its just to the local camp ground 12 miles away.

My wife and I  have been canning for the past several years. I don't consider myself "prepper" I just missed my grandmothers canned peaches. Shes dead so I had to figure it out myself. I wish so much I had paid more attention when I was younger but I had to be on the tractor with grandpa. Now I can everything. Beef, pork, chicken, I make my own chicken stock. Made pickles this year for the first time. 8 gallons.

I like to hunt and fish. Not so much hunting anymore but I try to fish quite a bit. I like to dump the canoe in the river and spent the day. Nothing better then fresh catfish.

We've already been conversing, however, welcome to our humble site

Nate and I would like to hear about the canning stuff. I need to get smart on canning whole meat based meals to decorate the shelves in the cabin I'm going to stitch together down on my "Farm"

Jon, welcome!  Glad to see you make the trip over here to this site.  I watch your canning escapades on Nate's thread over there.

I too need to get up to speed on canning.
Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

I just don't want to wind up missing a digit or limb.  I can sometimes get in a hurry to get results.
