Same thing I think happens in Cali, recall the Christopher Dorner manhunt? Those cops couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn & no one was shooting back the majority of the time.

Btw, that was one guy, chew on that for a minute.....

6102
Don, this is no surprise. I’m not sure if I told you in one of our conversations or not but my wife’s former boss (read homosexual male diabolical narcissist, for the record I’ve dealt with many professionals over the years and this guy who was a COO was downright odd hard to describe even ) who him and his husband or partner or whatever used the corporate money chain to fund their “adoption” of a little girl from a baby making factory ie: this lady lived well by producing kids she would sell to homosexuals. She lives in southern Cali. The corporation (huge healthcare company) paid for north of 90% of all costs.

Pretty sure I have some ammo from the 40's or 50's in steel tins inside of wooden crates 7.62 x 54 and the one tin I opened and shot from was fine. I do think you should buy bulk and store with the intent of passing it down to the next generation. Although my kids like to shoot so I think they would always appreciate it.

Another thought
I personally have ammo I bought in the 90's off retail shelf with price tag still on the boxes, I wish I had bought more as it would be a steal in todays pricing.........

All that said, I do think anything that allows a high cyclic rate needs to be regulated. Not necessarily banned but stamped like a FA weapon.

Here’s some numbers, about those weapons and more laws.
https://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=233077

At the end of the day us being “more responsible” gun owners with “more laws” or “different ones” really isn’t going to make a major impact on any real number. That is a fact, so why would I submit to more crap laws that don’t work or are not enforced? I won’t, plain and simple.

Talk to your blue in the face and it won’t chenge my opinion. Adding more laws won’t fix the moral decay in our society. Regardless of how many databases I am in currently (quite a few by my simple math btw) it really doesn’t change things for me either. Until someone gets the nutsack to come start confiscating from all these lists debating which law or system is better is nothing but a pile of steer crap. My 2 cents, have a lovely day everyone!

I sell Deka, only because I kicked Interstate out of my shop. Out of the 2, I prefer Interstate...the "6" series Dekas are almost as good. Their top of the line "7" series don't hold up to heat as well.

Let me guess the interstate rep had a trump bumper sticker on his car?

Cousin (Romanian version I think versus China or Russian which is svd & whatever china version is called) to the svd, fires same 7.62 x 54 but there are some differences although can’t recall what they are at moment. I do believe the barrels are same thickness though read thin. I have even read where guys shortened the barrel to limit the whip. My experience as with a lot of ak actions the first few rounds are somewhat accurate & once they heat up they are all over the place.

I tend to agree with Charles though that it would be a stretch I think for one to make those hits at that range. I think both versions we see here in states were imported prior to Clinton banning the China Russian imports of them so maybe their quality has improved greatly since then? Then again maybe some of our guys here who spent time over seas since Clinton have better information. I seem to recall someone having a discussion about his buddy getting shot in the hind end by one at night on a base somewhere.

Coffee Induced Early Morning Rant / Re: Steel and aluminum tariffs
« on: March 05, 2018, 09:13:28 AM »
That’s a lot of bloviating to get a simple point across.  Not sure I agree completely. Until humans agree to pay more for goods than they could, businesses must necessarily go towards a lower operating cost to be competitive.   That’s why the massive corporate tax cuts were so important and actually will raise some costs as labor costs will rise here ( good for American workers) I do believe that if a dumping situation or other extreme imbalance exists between countries then tarrifs are warranted.

Charles, I agree if you actually read it in its entirety there is a lot of fat. I rarely read anything complete, most often it is a fast skim of an article to get to the meat.

Absolutely

6121
I agree with Norm lots of teachers are nut cases. I’m not asking them to be swat or for that matter demanding they be armed. What I think needs to happen is allowing ones who want & are capable to to do so have a path. This would include a training program and ongoing mental evaluation including quarterly training at a min. Norm, I think you of all people can find common ground in this.

I don’t think these tariffs will hold, Bush tried them years ago and they didn’t either. With that stated this is signature trump, piss the opposing side or sides off then work back towards center giving up nothing on our side but with the opposing side giving things to keep us negotiating.

We have black lacquer cabinets this time, the finish has been ok. I will say when they wear it’s on sharp corners when the finish doesn’t get on as thick and the contrast is noticeable versus a regular lighter wood stain which I think wears the same just the contrast is less so you don’t notice near as much.

Shouldn’t that wire bed be elevated 2” or so?

It should be but on small pours such as that it’s not uncommon to drop a few piles then lift the wire up as you continue the pour.

Charles, great idea. Fortunately I don’t live in a prison.

6132
Not I, when my old man got pissed watch out he’d do a good enough job for for both him and my mom.

Heck, my school principle and his paddle didn’t hold a candle to what my dad could dish out (for the record laughing at the principle before swats probably wasn’t the best idea either, made him try extra hard). Guess there was a reason my Dad and I still don’t see eye to eye on a few things. But I wouldn’t dream of hitting a girl either so to each their own I suppose.

6133
Ok, so here’s my rant or vent for this morning.

A little history, two summers ago these two brothers my middle daughters age 7th grade at the time one of which decided to hit her (punch to face) at local park. So Shelby comes home crying, explains what happened. Told her to get in Jeep, she tells me they went home & she doesn’t know where they live. Regardless we find two brothers down a couple houses from their own and I ask them where they live. They point to the house a couple down with both parents standing out front (think present day ward cleaver) so I drive down there and in no uncertain terms explain what happened. The mother is beside herself and the Dad is wondering by the look in his eye how this is going to end as I’m pissed. Long story they apologize and kid then sent into house for whatever fate.

So this morning my daughters are talking about some kid getting bullied at bus stop. My middle daughter again is now talking about walking up and punching said bully in the nose. To which I didn’t have much response other then make sure you finish it if you start it. Mother on other hand didn’t think that was such a great idea.

So hour later I’m taking two youngest to bus stop. While driving there we pass a kid who has some mental deficiencies but all in all is a good kid from what I’ve witnessed. Middle daughter points out that he’s the one who is getting bullied. So we drive on & they then point out that the bully is non other than the boy who punched my middle daughter two summers ago. So against my daughters wishes I pull truck over and roll down window. I then proceed to have a conversation once again with this boy. He admits to picking on the other kid no less & also acknowledges the mental short comings of the other kid. I calmly explain men don’t do that & if I find out that you ever do that again your Dad & I are going to have a much deeper conversation about the matter.

So reflecting I really would like to smack this Dad in the mouth for his obvious failures, I won’t obviously. However, other than his son being respectful to me & not lying when confronted about his actions I’m getting a little tired of the crap this kid is pulling in our community. One thing is for certain had I ever hit a girl as a boy I can guarantee you I would not have been able to sit for a week as a result of my Dad’s leather belt. Rant off

Yep, all used up now, time to trade it in. Looks like it does the job you want.

Maybe you can put a couple of those hay roll thingy's to filter the runoff coming into the pond if there is a clear area for it.

Now would be the time to add a drain or 2, as you build the levee up so as not to dig it out.

So who's batteries were almost dead, Chief or Sarge?
Yea, going to add the drain...Shawn seems to have the best idea on how to...But the pond is way too full

But like always I have a plan

Don is gonna excavate a whole new area of equivalent size. Then cut the wall between the two sides

Then when the pond level drops several feet, I'll get in there and install the overflow before the pondage back-fills to the current level.

Marking this date on the calendar, the boss said I had a good idear....

Yeah, so mechanic is fixing couple leaks (stuff I dislike doing) & I completed a couple jobs today & in between I was able to cut & drill mounts for the xj front winch bumper. Stocker front bumper and mounts got pulled as well. Tomorrow in the morning I’ll start tacking items in place on new bumper then meetings in afternoon.

I hear it is now 4 officers were on scene and did nothing. I couldn't live with myself if I were in that situation.

All including the sheriff should resign.

The first responders emt & fire were begging to go in (wanting to put their lives on the line) and scene commander (whomever that was?) would not allow it. To quote the first responders the way this played out was completely backwards & disfunctional. I’m not a first responder but in the couple times of emergency I’ve been involved (first on scene) with there was no hesitation only action, you act & do whatever it takes. To think their were kids getting shot up (whole other level of evil I might add) I do not think I could stand there and wait.

Resource officer claims he thought shots were outside building now & on other side of building.

My old pond NE IN with quite a bit of rainfall (lots of lake effect precipitation, Lake Michigan & Erie) was 3.5 acres & on average probably 15’ deep (deepest was close to 30’) across the acreage. We had a 10” on ours & it never had an issue. The pipe that went thru the dike was about 5’ below crest. Then it came thru about 5’ into pond side & had a 90 push on pvc fitting with gaskets in it that allowed the vertical section to get pushed back and forth when it froze over in the winter. Come spring I would adjust it back to level I wanted the pond at for the year. Worked really well and was not my design.

Hide Site / Re: Hide Site/Bug-out location Construction, Part 5

Then when I went to check on the ponds, I was shocked to discover both were completely full and were running out over the levees. One levee was getting close to failure, so much had washed away, so I got to work patching up the hole, then built up the thing a foot higher.

Don, install an 8” tile (pvc pipe works fine too) at the height you want the water to crest at & run it through the dike. Then it will stop eroding the dike & overflowing the berm.

Jeep jk started puking oil, so since I don’t have time but do have ability to write a check it was dropped off at mechanic. I know I suck. Anyhow, I think either the intake is leaking at back of motor or drivers side valve cover at rear. Drivers side back of block is wet all the way down and around starter. This leak started very small a couple month back leaving a drop here or there on occasion (dime size drop). As of this morning it started leaving silver dollar size puddles after driving and sitting for ten minutes. So there’s that, and picked up steel for front bumper on the xj. May start cutting, drilling and forming parts for it tomorrow if I get time in between other jobs.

Gun Control / Re: Trump to Sessions “ban bump fire stocks”

In the 1920’s the NRA’s National Revolver Association (hand gun training arm at that time) proposed the conceal carry permit regulations that were later adopted by 9 states.

In the 1930’s the NRA helped Roosevelt draft the 1934 National Firearms Act along with the 1938 Gun Control Act which we’re the first two Federal Firearms laws.

Now for the record JR you asked how anyone could not like the NRA? Well, I don’t like these laws so I guess by default I don’t like the NRA. Do they do some good? Possibly, but it appears playing both sides is not out of question for them either.

NRA history lesson very brief overview:

CCP was their idea
NFA they helped draft the legislation

I’ll leave it at that but if you want to research it further there is more.

So I’ll choose to support GOA & other (what appear to be at present time) true pro gun groups. The idea we can give a blanket approval to any man or group doesn’t work, the good book tells us this no less. We need to hold them accountable for their actions.
