It was a great day of fellowship and work. More like fun instead of work. When you get to run equipment all day and have a finished product at the end, that's fun.
Can't wait to get more done on the range then do some drills.

Hey Kieth-

can you give me a quote on cost to do something like Don's on the upper portion of my receiver?  (Matched set-Spikes Tactical "Jack" in .308)  I'm envisioning it running somewhere under and parallel to the rail section.  I'd like to get it done before I send it off to get Cerakote applied to the skull and engraved portions to contrast the rest in black. :o

Mike P.

...for the Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12

Mike,

If you are wanting deep engraving to fill with topcoat or contrast color, I'm not able to do that at this time. However i am able to engrave through the topcoat and produce the results you see on Big Don's Sig.

If that is what you are looking for I can definitely help with that.
Pricing starts at $75 for one side one area and go up from there.

I have been working on a new digital camo design for my Glock 30SF, thought that would be a cool idea. I told Don about it on our way down to his farm Friday and he said he would really like to see the results. I told him today that it is finished and as always he said "no pix it didn't happen". so i will be posting soon.

Well this is the third time I tried to send this post with some Pix so I think I will get this post out of the way and send the pix on the next ones

I think they have to go through a FFL dealer. I've been looking into it so I can receive them directly but would have to ship back to another FFL dealer.  Most charge anywhere from $20 to $50 to receive and fill out all the appropriate paperwork.

Hi every one. I know I haven't posted anything for a while, busy with life and all but I have recently started a new side business. I do laser engraving, cutting, etching and marking.

You going to eventually do the ATF specs for engraving the NFA stuff? Since there were people on the forum talking about SBRs and etc.

P.S. That engraving you did looks pretty top notch. And no spelling errors for a Marine.. so yay!!  ;D

P.P.S. Chief that rifle looks too clean. I see no dings or scratches.. that needs to be remedied!
Bobby,
Admittedly I've only had it out a few times
Remember back when I was trying to figure out that QD mount for that 30mm Socom scope?
Well, I haven't closed the loop on that one yet, and the iron sights were pretty close as delivered

Yes, eventually I will be able to do the NRA marking but have to come up with the funds for the other type of laser that does deep engraving in metal. I have a CO2 laser now but will need a Fiber or YAG laser for that.

Hi every one. I know I haven't posted anything for a while, busy with life and all but I have recently started a new side business. I do laser engraving, cutting, etching and marking. I have been talking with Don about it  and showing him some pix of the jobs that i have done, including weapons, and he has  given me the honor of doing some work on his present last year from the Mrs. the SIG 716 .308.
Don thought it would be a good place to post this new project on the site for all to see. He hasn't seen the results of the yet so this might be his first time seeing the results of it as well. Here arer some before and afters. I also took a video and will try to post as well.

Thank s for the info. I think I am going to try one of these as well as the LT -32 to get some comparison.

What would be another good powder for the .308? I'm going to try Accurate LT-32 witch will be fine in the .223, but would like to try another to see what the rifle likes to eat. I'm using CCI primers and topping it with Sierra 175 gr. MK HPBT.

Thanks Don, trying to o be a good example for the boys... But it doesn't seem to be sinking in... :-)

Thanks TRN I will defiantly use the info. I'm really looking forward to the first time at the range with some work ups. I also need to get a chronograph at least for the precision reloads so I can enter results into my balistics software.

An expensive hobby but we'll worth it.

Thanks, it drives me nuts when things are out of order.

It looks like you're setup to use a powder drop? If so, be sure to use a scale to double check the amount that's dropped. For my hunting rounds, I check each round after doing a box (20). It adds an extra step, but it's the only way to make them perfectly the same.

Thanks for the advice Ken, I will do that on the bulk loading.
I plan on batch loading for the .308 and use a funnel and scale all powder to work up the load.

It might not be a new weapon but it was just what I wanted, reloading equipment.
A Lee load master with 9mm, .45, .223 and .308 dies and some other accessories, case feeders and some case prep tools.

I built the bench while I was off work recovering after a surgical blunder and a bad case of staph infection. But that has healed after 8 weeks of IV antibiotics.

So while waiting on my powder order I figured I would start some case prep on all the brass I have saved. I'm on my last 100 of .308, depriming so I can trim cases and get rid on the crimped primer pockets on the mil spec brass. But I he time the powder gets here I'll be ready to start to work up a load for the Remy. Then some bulk loading of 9 mm, .45 and .223.

Since I'm just starting to reload any advice is welcome.

Not a bad group for stock stick, inexpensive glass and factory ammo.

I do believe that's somewhat better than not bad.
He's sand baggin' Bobby...Marine...They do that you know. Try and lead we Army folks down the path then pull out the gotcha!

Not gonna pull anything over on an Airborne NCO...You got him!
Thank for the vote of confidence there Don...
It was shot from the bench on bipods and a balled up fist under the stock. Sand bags don't have a heart beat and when your shooting on 40 power at 100 yds that's what you have to time to squeeze off a group like that.

That same day a guy I met at the range had his $2700 custom Surgeon with NF glass and still couldn't top that group.

Still I enjoy the back and forth banter.

That's priceless.
I have spent plenty of time in the CH-53's and CH-47's and hanging from them, (spy rigging) repelling and fast roping.

I have flown a Cessna 172 when I was contemplating getting my PPL. But I have always loved the helo's.

I sat in the front seat of a super cobra on ship off the coast of Hati but they wouldn't take me up... You know that whole your "enlisted and only officers can ride" thing.

Yes, the M.E.R. is 3750. I've also seen them come out of the tube and go vertical when one of the wires snapped.

A little of both and Alot of snap in time.
Scout snipers were attached to our unit in the Med and Hati. Became good friends and did some cross training with them. Also my MOS was 0352 anti tank missile, TOW2. Tank sniper. Longest shot 3250 meters.

I tried posting this earlier on the web from my phone but the pix ,I guess, were to big.
Here it goes on tap talk.

Bone stock Rem 700 police, except for the Kydex adjustable cheek rest.
26" Heavy barrel, stock trigger except I adjusted it down to about 1.5 lbs, Harris bipod, Barska 10-40x50 with illuminated retical, the glass is mounted with 30mm Burris Signature Series with adjustable MOA inserts with dove tail mount to Burris two piece base with adjustable windage.

Ammo that day, factory  Federal GMM 175gr SMK HPBT 2650 fps on the box.

Not a bad group for stock stick, inexpensive glass and factory ammo.

I did chronograph after shooting the group to get a 5 shot average.

There are a few more upgrades for would like to add and really thinking about reloading to develop a more consistent round for this and bulk ammo.

Those are some good pix, brings back memories. Have done fast rope, repelling and spy rigging. The closest I got to flooding was the helo dunker.
Didn't know you were in Hati in 94 Don, I was there too. Spent three weeks in Gitmo and 1week in Roseavelt Roads training for the port landing. We're you land based or ship?

You are correct Don, the government does know where they are but they are just going to "watch" them. They won't do anything because the are American citizens and have rights.

In my opinion, if any US citizen chooses to support monetarily or physically participate in a known terrorist group within the States should have their "Citizenship" revoked and delt with accordingly.

"Let God sort them out"...  I think everyone knows the first part.
