Happy thanksgiving to you too. I could not have said it better.

All these people uninvited or not spening time with family over political reasons is just childish. I hope none of you have to go through that.

Oh yea, remember to keep your thanksgiving dolphin free.

Happy thanksgiving.  3 hours into a smoke. Brined and smoking with cherry wood. Brushed with herbed butter. Lemon slices and herbed butter under the breast skin

I told my wife I'd just as soon eat cheese dip and jalapeƱos. I'd wreck that pecan pie, Bobby. Like high speed low drag pie eating :-)

That pie is as good as gone already. I'd be completely fine sitting in my apartment eating a pizza or chili dogs.

Update, I failed to eat any of the Pecan pie. I just decided that I will make myself wait until this weekend to eat it. I discovered this morning that I've lost a few pounds and don't want to reverse said discovery.

Well, I discovered I can't eat very much carb laden foods any longer. So I had a little bit of everything (deep fried turkey was a hit btw) & I saved a little room for a small piece of that pecan pie. It was very good Bobby!

I don't think you can ever go wrong with Pecan pie, well unless you're allergic.

We've done the deep fried bird.
I hate turkey generally, as in I'll go hungry if need be.
Mama was so happy to have turkey again.
It was a hit, even with me...I'll try anything once, and fried bird will remain on the go for it menu for me. Problem is with just the two of us, finding an appropriate sized bird is tough.

This year we did a big chicken instead for just that reason. Big birds take a long time, Chicken is better tasting than Turkey, and good for one round of leftovers then you ditch it before the salmonella gets ya.

Nate, that looks good brother. My smoker must be about 15 degrees off from what I can tell.  This was the first time I was smoking something with a deadline and it was not coming up quick enough. Checked and it's off.  I cranked the heat and it jumped from 145 internal to  170 super quick. I pulled it at breast temp of 170. Dark meat was money but the breast was a slight hair dry. Next time I'll ice the breast at 155 but at least now I know the smoker is off. I'll clean the probe and I'll be buying the thermoworks smoke thermometer with dual probes and wireless remote.

To help with the dryness try brining it for a few days before hand.

Yes sir. I brined for 36 hours. Probably the only thing that saved it.

Try cooking upside down on the smoker. White meat down. Dark meat is up high where it's hotter, and fat drips down through the breast. Ain't as pretty but it's about the eatin not the lookin, right? :)

I did upside for a while then flipped and then flipped back. I plan on getting the thermoworks Smoke dual wireless thermometer. That should help. I confirmed today the temp probe in the smoker is off 25 degrees. At 275 it's only 250
