Actually what I did Sunday morning:

Camping at a field trial with the trailer sitting around talking with friends outside our trailers when another person pulls in with their truck and trailer and as we’re watching him drive by my truck and trailer remark how he’s awfully close to my trailer and then get back to bs-ing with each other.  Time to drive to dinner and I collapse tow mirrors on the Dmax and discover drivers side is “falling apart”....hummm how’d that happen?  Yup- guy caught it with back of his trailer!

Gorilla Glue brand duct tape is awesome!  Guys paying for new mirror thankfully as it’s $430 just for the parts!  Photographic proof that I’m qualified to be a part time Redneck!  Towed home 3.5 hours at 75 and still attached!

Thanks guys!

Man, that sucks Mike, but I suppose it's better to have lost the mirror than the entire side of your truck.

I don’t see anything wrong with the mirror, looks like Caintuck standard issue equipment right there.

I spent the evening at the old house cleaning and doing a few small things to get it ready for Pictures. Realtor is going over to stage it tomorrow for Pictures on Wednesday.

Its all about the Google Fu Shawn!

I was thinking about sub contracting the roof out but I can't  get return calls so I may rent a tele handler and just work from the tele handler.  Sure would make 32 sheets of decking up on the roof a whole lot easier

I rented one when I had to roof the addition.  I thought it would be handy to get the sheeting on.  We ended up getting the first row on from ladders and then nailing 2x4"s every row to get up to the peak.  The telehandler was handy for the facia and soffit going up to the peak but not so easy to work with on the roof.

This was on a 12/12 pitch also.  I was working with my dad, who has a good bit of experience with this sort of stuff also.

Good info Bear. I’m 14-16 ft to the lower eave because of the foundation and 12ft walls. I’d have to make some temp scaffolding. That telehandler is 21000 lbs and ain’t cheap and I bet it has to be delivered. A lot of hassle and expense if it won’t be effective

I guess I did not get an actual telehandler.  I rented a tow behind boom lift.  I think the major downfall of it was that it did not have an extendable boom.  Maybe an actual telehandler would work better.  Or maybe even a boom would be ok if it could be extended.  I just remember when we tried working with it we were always working underneath us.  We couldn't get it in position so that we were under the work.

Renting scaffolding was also cheaper then I though it would be.  I think it was about $50 to rent 3 sections of scaffolding for 2 days.  That was enough to get up to the peak of the roof, which looks about comparable to yours.

I would just rent one of those scissor lifts for facia & first row of sheeting. Do this over a weekend, get your drip edge on bottom of roof. The rest of sheeting and drop edge to peak can be accomplished later. After that first weekend throw the sheeting up into second floor and work from roof. You really need man power not that telehandler imo.....

I sealed it with 4 coats prior to grout, and 4 coats after because it's so rough. Last time I work with slate...grout still stuck to it horribly.

You can sheet from inside Tex, slip first sheet on from inside and build up from there or you can measure from your tails up the four feet Chalk a line across and start first sheet from the four foot mark and you can stand on the top of the wall

A service advisor with a sense of humor....I hate dealing with dealer service advisors as most of them know absolutely nothing but how to write a name in a time slot.  Trying to explain a problem with my truck or car is like talking to a post most of the time. All I get is the deer in the headlight look and end up talking to a mechanic on the phone or the shop finding nothing wrong with the rig when I go back to pick it up.

Pheasant Hunting Shawn?  Been there a few times on my way to Roscoe, SD - myself and 3 others actually drank Roscoe dry of Budweiser once.......guess they kept a very tight margin on what was delivered and shared between the store and two gas stations that sold it!

Nope, so many birds there  all you need to do is find a road ditch along the gravel road and start walking;  dog does make it much more enjoyable though!

Is that still the case?  I thought I had heard that the last few years the birds have not been nearly as plentiful out there.

Since it’s been getting colder & I like to workout early I’ve taken to running an indoor track. Apparently I need to start stretching which I despise. My routine has been to walk a couple brisk laps then run a couple doing this for 4 miles. Keeps heart rate up for 45-50 mins, well two days ago I tried going to three laps running then alternate back to two laps fast walk & on fifth lap I pulled lower right calf muscle. First pulled muscle in couple of years so as not to ruin the workout I did a heavy shoulder and chest workout along with kettle bells.

Harvest is going slow with my boss having that stroke. With Dr visits and another overnight in the hospital. Along with an upcoming sugery. The neighbors got together and are coming today to get our beans done. We will 7 combines 3 grain carts with 2 more on reserve. A dozen or more trucks and more man power than jobs. They do this all the time when someone is sick or hurt. I just never thought we would need help. Its humbling and heart warming. Now if mother nature would just cooperate. Its in the 30s today with 50 mph gusts. We have about 500 acres or so to go.

Glad to see that still happens Jon.
That much equipment should make short work of 500 acres.
Hope all goes well with the boss and harvest.

Decking, underlayment, soffit and facia. I’ll have to order the r panel and either have them come back or roof it myself

It is an easy roof job, I’d probably do that myself. Two days getting after it should be no problem with a coil nailer. Get one of your daughters to be shingle fetch girl, heck with that pitch she could set on peak & slide them to you. But writing a check is easy too.....

First fire of the season. Drinking a little brown water after a hard day of watching other people work. It'll get down to 34 tonight

Kids today don't know how easy they have it. When I was young, I had to walk 9 feet through shag carpet to change the TV channel.

These three guys cost me $46 per hour combined.  I could watch them work all day.

Cleaned up about a thousand square feet of the garage, now I can pull the minivan up to the door at the far end of the garage. Also cleaned out the fireplaces at the house for the first time since buying. Some people can be pretty stupid as to what they burn. The tile the nails are sitting on are 6”x6”and that pile is about 4” tall.  Then had a nice fire to relax with after the kids went to bed.
