We made history tonight
That 1st stage coming back in for a landing was intense. It's like something out of a scifi movie, firing retro rockets and all that. Very cool moment.
Hey Don that is called the "grasshopper" it was kind of destroyed when the engine failed during one of the tests

I have to research that "vacuum engine".
It's just called M-vac because that's the environment it operates in.
No I'm just a redneck with a third grade education but I have been accused of having more than one brain cell And I build rockets for a living.

Yes I am a part of SpaceX I am the grandpa in my group and I'm considered young in Aerospace years.

But youngest in aerospace years meaning you're somewhat new to the industry? Because when I first read it I was confused as how you can be a young grandpa. Fascinating accomplishment for space x and all involved though, even if somehow or another you have managed to be old and young all at the same time :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well Mr Phil, congrats on what you and your "kids" have done.
Basically what is do is we run over after the rocket has been secured and we have big steel shoes that go over the landing foot and we weld that to the barge. Yes the barge is a drone ship, and it was the first time we kept it upright. We have hit the barge every time we have tried, just a little too hard in most cases! We launched out of the Cape, the ship is 200miles off the coast.
