I did it 2 different ways. Meat on top and meat on  the bottom. The meat on the bottom worked the best.

Tried a new recipe Saturday.  Seen in on Facebook. Its just canned meat with some onion, some garlic, taters, mushrooms and carrots. It turned out delicious.

I was always told the ban was because it made eagle eggs soft.

You can always  convert it to regular shocks. I contemplated doing this with my 06 suburban LTZ. But i traded it for my Duramax instead.

So if my thinking is right I can pull the 3/4 ton axles out of my 80 pickup. Then I need to order new 3/4 ton springs for a suburban. That will raise up the rear end quite a bit. Then if I order a 2 inch lift for a 3/4 ton it will come with new 3/4 ton front springs. If i gotta buy new springs anyway I just as well lift it a little.

I don't NEED a 3/4 suburban but if Im going to put new springs on I just as well go one step up.

Did the half ton and 3/4 ton use the same frame? My 91 has the saggy rear end problem and will need new springs. If I gotta buy new ones I want to go with 3/4 ton springs if they will fit. I don't want to do a bunch of fabrication. This is more of a beater and run around fishing/hunting truck than a restoration project.

I dragged these home to body and engine/trans swap.  The one with the good body has a running straight 6 with a 4 speed. But if I can pull the 3/4 ton axles out and get this stance on the burb with out a lift that would be awesome.

Its times like this I really hate adult ADHD.

There is a whine in the Rear end. I didn't think much of it. Its full of oil. I have a 80 3/4 ton sitting behind the shop. Its a different project that I never started. That one might get scrapped and the axles find their way under the suburban.

This recipe is real close to what she did. Only change was she put it in the oven on a cookie sheet with a whole sliced lemon.

Picked this up yesterday for 650 bucks. Odometer sais 130,000 miles but it dont work so who knows what it has. I found a list of repairs done at 109K in the glove box but the date is 2001 (ball joints, wheel bearing, brakes, fuel pump, etc) so I hope its not too much past that. Im thinking add a 4 inch lift and some bigger tires. Sand it down a little bit and shoot it flat black. No rust repair just leave it. The rust is not horrible and wont show that bad through flat black. The interior is really what sold me. Its near perfect. If someone takes the time to keep it that clean than I think they would take care of it mechanically also.

No its not going bad over summer But I should drain the hose. Just whats in the hose changes color.

Ive heard stories about that in WW2 My grandpa served while his younger brothers and dad farmed. They still had horses. The government must have had enough so they didn't take anything.

My boss told me stories abut his dad during that time also. Being the youngest and his brothers already over seas they let him stay home. You couldn't buy a tractor at that time. His uncle was a shady character and  car dealer. He found a Allis Chalmers wd on the black market.  That was the first tractor on this farm that I work at.

My boss, the man the with check book don't believe in all this prepper stuff. I was just wondering how long we might have with what we got.

D.O.T. / Re: What fuel has the longest shelf life?
« on: January 10, 2016, 09:11:01 AM »
The "official" shelf life for "pump" Diesel is roughly 28 days. Anything after that it starts to degrade. (straight from the man who sells us fuel)

Additives can prevent algae, and slow this breakdown process, but ultra low sulfur fuel has a very short shelf life.

The local emergency management folks use pure Kero in standby gen sets and such in these parts. They change that out yearly also BTW.

Personal underground storage is all but impossible legally with EPA laws as they are.

If I was storing fuel for emergency use long term, I'd store Kero with additives or #1 in a pinch if possible. Heating oil where available is also viable.

Waste oil that's been processed free of water would be possibly the ideal option...for those that can run such stuff. Hydraulic fluids, and such have shown to store decades.

On the farm here we tend to try and cycle through fuel so none sits more than 4mo or so in the tanks. These new modern tractors and equipment have zero tolerance  to "old" fuel. The problem has become acute enough that fuel suppliers have been changing how they deliver fuel and are now offering on sight/infield delivery as a way to reduce the need for large quantities of fuel being stored in tanks on farms.

At the present rate of EPA restrictions, refinery changes in how fuel is made and other factors are slowly but assuredly creating a situation where diesel is NOT as viable a fuel for long term emergency use as it once was.

I would start looking at propane for a long term fuel storage situation these days. You can still own and store propane underground in large quantities without attracting attention, and it doesn't go bad.

Central Valley AG delivers our fuel. We have monitors on the tanks. When it gets so low they come fill them. Then we only get a bill for what we use. Basically even though the tanks are ours the fuel in not. They change the filters and do maintenance on the pumps and the monitors. The monitors are hooked into a land line telephone so the tank can call the office and say hey I'm getting empty. If we think there is a problem with the fuel they come an test it and do what they have to do to remedy the problem.

Our no1 fuel tanks truck and tractor will sometimes sit all summer full and we've never had a problem with it going bad over summer.

Every time we go camping its a challenge to see how quickly I can make a fire with no lighter fluid. Sometimes it takes a while. I always bring a gallon of diesel. Ever since I doused a pile of wet wood with gas then I couldn't get the paper lit to throw on it. By the time i got it lit we had flames from vapor 6 ft out from the ring. Diesel don't do that.

Then my boss and his buddies would all go to Colorado on a ski trip every year. Get a big condo with a fire place. I said that must be nice sitting around the fire having drinks after a day on the slopes. He looked right at me and said nobody can ever get the fire lit. Really? Wow. What a bunch of men you guys are.

If in ideal conditions it last 12 years, I suppose you could cut that in half or less if its in a 1000 gallon barrel above ground. Assuming it hasn't been used or stolen by then.

I got sucked into a tv show. Last man on earth.  Kind of dumb but I like it. One episode the gas turned bad. Turned into jell. I know that don't happen but one guy on there sad Hey I told you this would happen.  Diesel last longer.

Got me to thinking. A gallon can of gas will go bad in 8 months or a year.  Will a 500 gallon barrel go bad that fast or will that quantity stay good longer?
How long would the same gallon can of diesel last?
What about propane?
The military uses JP8 I don't know much about that except its jet fuel but like kerosene. Can it be used in diesel trucks? Most likely hard for a civilian to obtain.

Every farm has fuel storage. If something happened I just wonder how Long before we are out of usable fuel?  Don't want to waste fuel in a SHTF situation  but if it will go bad in a certain amount of time just as well use it. I know we have a few propane tanks that have been full for a couple years. Filled them to run the grain dryers and never needed them. How long before they go bad?

« on: December 23, 2015, 08:23:52 AM »
Were headed to the great state of Kentucky day after christmas. Been planning for a while. Was just going to be me and momma and the 2 little ones. Leave the truck at home and drive the Traverse. Save some money on fuel. Plenty of room so I asked a buddy of mine to ride along. Has been wanting to go with but we always have all the kids.
So get a phone call. Seems the mother in law got the boys a pair of them little Chinese 4 wheelers, cheap. Well crap. I guess we will drive the truck. Then my daughter decides she wants to go. I'm not going to say no but now we're gonna be crowded in the truck and that sucks.
So I'm thinking I wish that Traverse had a hitch I'd borrow a little trailer. So I get on eBay and get one. My brother and I intall it. Get the trailer from my neighbor yesterday. Check the bearings. All rusty. Replace the bearings. Take the big ramp off it just catches wind anyway. Make a little tail gate out of a 2x6 and I think we are about ready to go. This trip has been a lot of work and we haven't even left yet.

Maybe we can sneak away and do a little fishing.

What I See Happening In a Trump Presidency

By Bill Bennett

They will kill him before they let him be president. It could be a Republican or a Democrat that instigates the shutting up of Trump.

Don’t be surprised if Trump has an accident. Some people are getting very nervous: Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton and Jon Corzine, to name just a few.

It's about the unholy dynamics between big government, big business, and big media. They all benefit by the billions of dollars from this partnership, and it's in all of their interests to protect one another. It's one for all and all for one.

It’s a heck of a filthy relationship that makes everyone filthy rich, everyone except the American people. We get ripped off. We’re the patsies. But for once, the powerful socialist cabal and the corrupt crony capitalists are scared. The over-the-top reaction to Trump by politicians of both parties, the media, and the biggest corporations of America has been so swift and insanely angry that it suggests they are all threatened and frightened.

Donald Trump can self-fund. No matter how much they say to the contrary, the media, business, and political elite understand that Trump is no joke.  He could actually win and upset their nice cozy apple cart.

It's no coincidence that everyone has gotten together to destroy The Donald.  It's because most of the other politicians are part of the a good old boys club. They talk big, but they won’t change a thing. They are all beholden to big-money donors. They are all owned by lobbyists, unions, lawyers, gigantic environmental organizations, and multinational corporations – like Big Pharmacy or Big Oil. Or they are owned lock, stock, and barrel by foreigners like George Soros owns Obama or foreign governments own Hillary and their Clinton Foundation donations.

These run-of-the-mill establishment politicians are all puppets owned by big money.  But there's one man who isn't beholden to anyone.  There's one man who doesn't need foreigners, or foreign governments, or George Soros, or the United Auto Workers, or the teacher's union, or the Service Employees International Union, or the Bar Association to fund his campaign.

Billionaire tycoon and maverick Donald Trump doesn’t need anyone’s help. That means he doesn’t care what the media says. He doesn’t care what the corporate elites think. That makes him very dangerous to the entrenched interests. That makes Trump a huge threat to those people. Trump can ruin everything for the bribed politicians and their spoiled slave masters.

Don’t you ever wonder why the GOP has never tried to impeach Obama? Don’t you wonder why John Boehner and Mitch McConnell talk a big game, but never actually try to stop Obama? Don’t you wonder why Congress holds the purse strings, yet has never tried to de-fund Obamacare or Obama’s clearly illegal executive action on amnesty for illegal aliens? Bizarre, right? It defies logic, right?

First, I'd guess many key Republicans are being bribed. Secondly, I believe many key Republicans are being blackmailed. Whether they are having affairs, or secretly gay, or stealing taxpayer money, the National Security Agency knows everything.

Ask former House Speaker Dennis Hastert about that. The government even knew he was withdrawing large sums of his own money from his own bank account. The NSA, the SEC, the IRS, and all the other three-letter government agencies are watching every Republican political leader. They surveil everything. Thirdly, many Republicans are petrified of being called racists, so they are scared to ever criticize Obama or call out his crimes, let alone demand his impeachment. Fourth , why rock the boat?  After defeat or retirement, if you’re a good old boy, you’ve got a $5 million-per-year lobbying job waiting. The big-money interests have the system gamed. Win or lose, they win.

But Trump doesn’t play by any of these rules. Trump breaks up this nice, cozy relationship between big government, big media, and big business. All the rules are out the window if Trump wins the Presidency. The other politicians will protect Obama and his aides but not Trump. Remember: Trump is the guy who publicly questioned Obama's birth certificate.  He questioned Obama's college records and how a mediocre student got into an Ivy League university.  Now, he's doing something no Republican has the chutzpah to do.  He's questioning our relationship with Mexico; he's questioning why the border is wide open; he's questioning why no wall has been built across the border; he's questioning if allowing millions of illegal aliens into America is in our best interests; he's questioning why so many illegal aliens commit violent crimes, yet are not deported; and he's questioning why our trade deals with Mexico, Russia and China are so bad.

Trump has the audacity to ask out loud why American workers always get the short end of the stick. Good question! I'm certain Trump will question what happened to the almost billion dollars given in a rigged no-bid contract to college friends of Michelle Obama at foreign companies to build the defective Obamacare website.  By the way, that tab is now up to $5 billion. Trump will ask if Obamacare's architects can be charged with fraud for selling it by lying.  Trump will investigate Obama's widespread IRS conspiracy, not to mention Obama's college records. Trump will prosecute Clinton and Obama for fraud committed to cover up Benghazi before the election.  How about the fraud committed by employees of the Labor Department when they made up dramatic job numbers in the last jobs report before the 2012 election?

Obama, the multinational corporations and the media need to stop Trump. They recognize this could get out of control. If left unchecked, telling the raw truth and asking questions everyone else is afraid to ask, Trump could wake a sleeping giant.  Trump's election would be a nightmare.  Obama has committed many crimes.  No one else but Trump would dare to prosecute.  He will not hesitate.  Once Trump gets in and gets a look at the cooked books and Obama's records, the game is over.  The jig is up.  The goose is cooked.  Holder could wind up in prison. Jarrett could wind up in prison.  Obama bundler Corzine could wind up in prison for losing $1.5 billion of customer money.  Clinton could wind up in jail for deleting 32,000 emails or for accepting bribes from foreign governments while Secretary of State, or for misplacing $6 billion as the head of the State Department, or for lying about Benghazi .  The entire upper level management of the IRS could wind up in prison.

Obamacare will be de-funded and dismantled. Obama himself could wind up ruined, his legacy in tatters. Trump will investigate. Trump will prosecute. Trump will go after everyone involved. That’s why the dogs of hell have been unleashed on Donald Trump.

Yes, it's become open season on Donald Trump.  The left and the right are determined to attack his policies, harm his businesses, and, if possible, even keep him out of the coming debates  But they can't silence him.   And they sure can't intimidate him.  The more they try, the more the public will realize that he's the one telling the truth.

Using gas is ok in the old diesel engines. My dad was over the road trucker owner operator. He used gas all the time. Now that we have this fancy new fangled low sulfer diesel fuel it's not a good idea. My opinion based on My own research. I use straight no1 and Howes. We got some new stuff this year I forget the name. Put the new stuff in one tractor and howes in the payloader. We will we what happens. I always put chicken stock in the pan to keep it moist. This is a soap opera but here we go. So my oldest is 18. HE has been dating this girl for over a year. She gets pregnant and they break up because he cheats. Ok fine BUT he has no ambition to do anything. HE had been living with my mom an hour away and she just let him lay around. Got on drugs. Finally he must have gotten tired of everyone on his butt to get off his butt. So he and his current Girlfriend (A psycho is I ever seen one) decide they are going to move away. Awesome. Get to a new town away from old friends and get off the crap.  So they move way to the other side of the state. Out on the Wyoming border. As far away as he could and stay in the same state. 460 miles away. Old Girlfriend is still prego not due until the middle of December. Fine come back for the birth and stay for Christmas and go back. Nope baby came early. HE and current GF are broke up. He has no wheels. Instead of asking family he is calling old buddys. His old gang. No body helps him. His ex wont take him. Then hes askes the only other person he hangs out with out there but she wont take him because she will miss thanksgiving with her kids. Well DUH. My brothers wife has family out in the middle of the state. So I get ahold of the kid and say hay call Uncle Kyle and kiss his butt maybe he will come get you. Got that figured out. He will be here Saturday I will be taking him back next week sometime.

This kid and a lot of kids I know have to realize nobody is going to help them just because they want it. HE is going to have to realize he has to do for himself. Cant rely on other people. At least he has a job. Finally. Its not much working at Taco Johns but hey I worked at Mc Donalds once myself.
Looking back I know what happened to him. I had him here on the farm working. Trying to keep him on the right track. He had a pretty good work ethic for a young teenager.  Then he got in trouble and put in a group home. It was that or Juvie. Spent a couple years in there with a bunch of lazy gang banger wannabes and he is a totally different person. Everything I tried to do, morals, work ethic everything erased. He did graduate high school and then he just quit doing anything.

Now for the happy stuff. I fully intend to be in this child's life no matter what the boy does. She is beautiful. I dont care how big of a man you are when you hold your child or grand child for the first time you melt. Nothing more precious than a new born baby. Her name is AVA 7lbs 9 oz
