Well my wife got the outside washed today, looks lots better. After work today pulled couch and frame so we can get rid of the nasty carpet!

Then I started on battery and water tank area. I want to clean all this up so I can add dual batteries and my charge controller for the solar.

The water tank had about 2" of water left in it! Lots of scum when I dumped it out. I'll fill it with a cup of bleach/water to the top and let it set for a few days to see if I can save the tank. Younger Son coming up tonight to shoot handguns if the weather holds so no work on camper till Monday. Everyone have a good Mothers Day, out with my Mom, Dad and my family tomorrow.

The truck doesn't even know it's there! Camper is only 1500 lbs. and one of my many planed mods is to take the bumpers off the front of camper, they're aprox.  3" deep so you don't hit the top of your bed rail. Going in their place will be a tailgate bed mat so their is something between my fuel tank and the front of the camper. That will move it 2 1/2" more forward. The camper only hangs over about 24" from the bed some of the truck campers you can get for our short box trucks are HUGE with as much overhang and tons more weight!  My eldest son works at a local fab shop, so we'll take tailgate off and come out of the trailer hitch with a angled support up to the bottom of the camper in 2 places. Also this gives me a spot to mount steps.

Also will be doing some truck mods for the trip. Here's first time on my truck, I have an RDS 45 gal aux tank in the bed that's why the gap between the cab and camper.

Made it home set it up on patio so my wife can get started on the cleaning and pulling out the couch and carpet.

I went with M4 Products. More money but very well built and better voltage range 10-30v,  so if you have solar charging at 14.5v - 14.8 volts won't hurt the bulbs. We spent a week at Glacier Nat. Park  just on solar and LED lights, ran the C-Pap at night no problems.

Build Threads / Front shackle mount
« on: February 11, 2015, 11:54:00 AM »
Number 2 son (Corporate Pilot) wanted new mounts on the front of his 11 DMax this is what we came up with

We used 2"x2" tube and 1/2"x2" flat. Number 1 son(Production Welder) is welder, fabricator, mechanic, Sport Pilot, jack of all trades

We welded everything up slid them in to mark bolt hole locations

Then we took the mounts over to a friends house with a mill to drill out the holes

Then slid in 1"id tubing welded that up , covered front with 1/8", finished all welds then off to powder coating

Old / New

Installation

Finished Product

Hey Guys I should have given a little more background, my wife has guillain-barré syndrome it's like MS. She has a Kimber Ultra in 9mm as her CC gun and can handle it pretty well, she's a good shot. She's home alone a lot, I work 3am-3:30pm a lot. and she was thinking she wanted a little more than just her handgun if some one is trying to break in, so she can stand her ground from master bedroom or from her craft room in the basement till the good guys arrive. We have tried 20ga shotgun a little to much kick if she is having one of her flareups her and hands aren't working the best. That was what started my thinking about a small AR for her, she's shot my sons full size BushMaster 20" barrel but it's to long and heavy for her. So I would like to find something that would work for her. Also how many wives ask for a new home defense gun! PS. our county just cut all sheriff road patrols because of the budget!! We'll have to wait for the State Troopers arrive!

It was the same with the in-laws 5th wheel sat outside no cover , roof was in bad shape, camper not worth the money for whole new roof, so I patched the weakest spots with Rubber Roof tape, then coated the whole roof. My wife took the 5th wheel and her parents camping a lot this past summer and no leaks in a lot of heavy rain. This coating worked great for the money even it I have to recoat it after a few years for $60 a gal. used 1 gal. on 22ft roof.

Here are the pics of the roof coating we did it looks like white bed liner did a great job on the inlaws older roof, no leaks now!

What do you guys think of a 9mm AR for the Wife as a home defense gun. I'm thinking short ,light, no recoil it won't go thru all the walls in the house, but still has 32 rds  and load it with good home defense rounds it should be good for close quarters. What brands should I look at and which to stay away from. Thanks

Your roof looks like my in-laws 5th Wheel when we started! WE had to remove street side wall and replace everything because of the rot! The rubber roof was never maintained , had to fix the small tears with Dicor Tape then cleaned and coated the roof with this rubber roof coating, Worked Great No More Leaks!!

I'll try to get pics of finished roof tonight
