It uses the wrong fuel!
Those V10's are all over the place in heavy class C RV's. I have wondered how they would do in a lighter application. I drove one for a month out in the cali desert at Ft. Erwin. Have to say, I didn't like it's weird sound, lack of power or horrible fuel mileage. But betting Ford has vastly improved the thing.Good score SI am always interested in what you will do to things. For your own sanity, do not subject it to the "Don effect" as some of my friends refer to things I own.
Those excursions are heavy pigs but ride nice because of it. The V10 holds its own, but a Cummins swap turns them into a heck of a rig.
My brother's 01 f250 has 345k. Most we did is intake gaskets and a/c..nothing engine related
Nice find Shawn. I almost bought one new with the diesel way back when. It was a moose. Should have bought it.
I'll find a home for it...you know im looking.....I'm kinda dense. I want a modern chassis with a old school body dropped on. Maybe even A/C.....
Here you all go DOTing my thread up with talk about luxury Redneck items such as aftermarket AC units. Thinking this needs its own thread, where are the mods I’m outraged!
Shawn, I haven't heard many gas engine related problems with those, but I have heard plenty of diesel problems with their high pressure oiling systems failing at very inopportune moments. seems like a good thing it's not ford diesel.
Started with the 7.3s and they didn't have nearly as many issues as the 6.0s.

7.3s are tanks.. but dogs. and from what i’ve always heard the 6.0s were tuned one way from international, but ford got them and turned them up to 360 hp which pushed head bolts and gaskets to their limit.. even though it’s a ‘factory’ tune.
I had 5 or 6 come in for head gaskets , but only one needed it. The rest were egr and oil coolers. Local dealer diagnosed most of these. Smh
grab a set of 08+ super duty mirrors. you’ll thank me later.

Shame you don't know anyone with a decent 24v. :sarc
Nice Ex, we have a suburban 2500 with a normal axle :) and love it.7.3s with an SXE turbo and a tune run and tow great. Brings em into the modern era IMHO
Ok, so other than dragging my small trailer around I really haven’t had time to do any upgrades to it. Tires (cooper ATP E rated) should be here this week and after hauling 16 pieces of 16” sq pavers in back if it this morning I’ve decided the old tires will be going sooner than later. Haven’t checked but believe they are D rated at best judging sidewalls this morning on those well worn wranglers (not a fan of those tires btw). I’ve done further research and banks kit is a waste of money on a v10. I may find a tuner and do the motor and trans with slight tow tune. In addition I checked and this came with 4.30 gears and limited slip rear. Seriously considering a grizzly locker for the rear in this though.
Turner, I’m not sure. Corners are worn pretty good on them but all in all they had a good 1/4” or more of tread across center. Plan was to keep them on until Sept. however we have two camping weekends coming up this summer and it will get loaded with gear and kids so not risking a blow out on used tires. I had noticed prior to buying it that at some point I believe it had a rear drivers blowout as inner fender liner (plastic) is busted up. I had these tires on a 3/4 ton D rated once and lost it coming across Cinci bridge on i75, was not much fun.....Also worth noting I think these tires have been on there for a few years.
