Apparently the clock spring has a sensitivity issue.  I can only blame millennials for the cause of such a stupid device.   Must be left alone, can’t turn to far one way or another, has to be strapped down for other non related repairs.

It has to be a millennial part of these trucks.

While making better of a bad situation my wife suggested that we take some of the “junk” cabinet doors left over from the wrong size cabinets and make some nice magnet boards.   Got some scrap from my sheet metal hvac guy and used his press brake and cut em out, siliconed them in and used some little picture frame clips to hold it in place.
Turned out rather nice if I don’t say so myself.

Built a set of stairs for the loft area. Before the only access was up a set of attic stairs. These are only temporary, we are going to redo this area into a bathroom and put in some easy low angle stairs. But this was only about $100 and it is easy enough for the kids to get up and down safely.
It was my first attempt at stairs and they turned out nice and sturdy.

We’ll, I’m going to be rebuilding these stairs already. After looking at it and the way I was going to open the ceiling up for headroom, it makes more sense to make them wider and open the ceiling up more. So I’ll be disassembling them and rebuilding. They are currently 30 inches wide and they will be going to 42 inches. I’ll cut another stringer for the middle and new treads and risers. We’ll see how it all goes.

My stairs are 32 and seem fine, but I have plenty of headroom. How much is there now, 5ft?

No, I only have a little over four feet. and when I open up the ceiling(already planned), I didn’t think of the fact there would only be about 12 inches left of the floor above to the side of the stairs. Too much temptation for kids to climb around up there. I’ll just push the stairs all the way to the wall, less places to fall too for the little ones.

Iirc minimum stair width, unless secondary egress is available is 36 and headroom is 6’8”

Yep, headroom is OK but built them at 32 wide. Not tearing them up now!

Nice swag!!

I am now good with headroom(nothing a sawzall couldn’t fix) as for egress, there’s windows. :). I plan to build permanent stairs that will be 42 or 48 wide, but I got tired of watching the kids (and my wife and I) scurrying up and down folding attic stairs.

Thanks Sam.  There is enough 130 proof whiskey there to make an entire crowd stupid.

Thought about you today.  Watching Building Off The Grid, North Pole and these guys built a 12x16 cabin 16 miles from no where hauling in everything on snowmobile.  Way envious, but I would be doing it solo.  Wife is not on board.

We have 200 big round cornstalk bales to get picked up in the field before it warms up. Problem is there is too much snow to get around out here with the semi. So we built a goose neck hitch to go on the 3 point of the tractor. This way we can use the 30ft goose neck flatbed.  Its going to take longer but we will get it done.  Again no pics because my camera is still broke. I found kiosk in the mall that will fix it but he had to order parts.

Had first construction meeting on new home this morning. They are ahead of schedule by a few days and digging basement today.

Had appraisal on existing home done today.

Officially signed lease and deposit on new town home for six months. Spoke with all utilities & have things set up for the switch.

Movers have been hired and we move on the 26th

All the heavy equipment is in my shop except for the lathe as it still needs moved along with odds and ends mostly steel parts. Compressor is extremely top heavy and no fun to move, retired neighbor cop stopped by and gave me hand off loading it along with bottom roller tool chest. Second set of hands was very appreciated.

Finally received refund from Richmond American Homes on original build, vp is lucky they have cameras in his lobby. I exchanged some choice words with him about his disfunctional company. Not my finest moment.

So bottom pic, home in the middle is similiar to ours being built except we have more windows up top. Single car on the one side is moms separate entrance to her suite.

26th, wow that is going to be busy!

I did a kid thing yesterday and it felt great. On the way to pickup my son from school I was merging left as the lane ends after a stoplight. As I merged, this little rice burner (car) was right on my bumper attempting to pass everyone with the lane was ending and I was the first car. He went into the bike lane to get around me and I floored it. My tune is not the best but was enough to outrun him and blew a good amount of smoke in the process. When I looked over I noticed the window down and my exhaust is about that height so it was a double play.

Shawn, that looks good.  I haven't been able to park my ride in a garage in 5 years.  Momma has both hers in the garage and both mine sit outside....

Nice retort, Nate....

JR. love it!  I did that to a jaguar convertible with a couple of alternative lifestyled individuals in it a few years ago.  They were trying to jump off the light and cut on to the freeway on ramp

Thanks guys, going from tiny expensive home to tinier town home then to quite a bit more expensive large home. The unfinished basement is 2k sq ft with the top two floors at a little over 4K including moms area. So far everyone is happy and excited, the main floor is open and has a huge main kitchen with island long enough to seat 6-7 people comfortably so the wife can cook & host which is her thing (she even hosted a cooking class recently at a locals request). It would have been nice to have more garage space as always but I have a shop so no complaints here.

Man, you bought swamp land?

What's wrong with ya

Nah, never mind, don't have time to go there...

When the EPA gets wind, (And in that hippie haven of a state that you are buildin' on marshland, you'll be cooked).

Start moving heavy equipment onto the site and the first thing, it sinks! Pity.

Get rid of that wasteland while you still can!
